I heard that mosquitoes are attracted to darker colors. So maybe using a black bucket might help. Allegedly they feel safer near dark colors because they're not as visible. Not sure if that's the case but hopefully it's one more thing that can lead to mosquito eradication.

That's true & I noticed lots of bugs like the color blue! Later I read someone else saying the same thing.

Can’t wait to try this. I have a large stretch of protected wetlands down one side of my property and absolutely get eaten alive trying to use my big backyard. Thank you!

My wife just got some pheromone clothing moth traps off Amazon. She set them up last night and almost as soon as she opened one the air was alive with the tiny moths. Now they are stuck to the tape inside the traps. Smart ways of dealing with bugs are great!

I’ve tried everything and the zappers work the best but they just be large enough. I will try this in conjunction with the zappers. Thank you from Texas!

I couldn't suppress the vision of mosquitos picking you up and carrying you from farm to farm. In your wake are all sorts of repaired walls and ceilings.

Trying this - hate chemicals! I'm using two empty giant plastic pretzel jars like you get @ BJs. I didn't want critters getting into it either, so cut some of those onion nets and clamped it over the opening - stretching it enough that the mosquitoes can get in. If it doesn't work I'll remove the netting. I get mauled by these blood suckers every day when I go out to change the birdbath water. We've had a ton of rain here in the north east (MA-USA) and this is the worst I've seen them. All my neighbors spay, so my yard if free of chemical for the wildlife & wild birds I feed. Praying this works - I cannot sit outside at all right now. I've even had to put long sleeves on during hot days & mosquito netting just to go put out bird seed and fresh water. Horrible little beasts! I have 1/2 an acer so put one in my front & one in the back yard using a full float. Thanks for recommending this.

After the eggs hatch, the larvae turn into pupae and eventually become adults in about 14 days. From there, the adult mosquitoes will breed and lay eggs to start the cycle over. Mosquitoes will die off when the weather gets colder, when they're are eaten by a predator, or they'll die naturally in about a month or two.

Once we had a bucket with a couple inches of water that had been left out. When I looked in it it was teeming with wrigglers. Hmm... we also had a freshwater aquarium. It was so satisfying watching the little monsters trying to get to the top for a breath of air, but the fish got them before they could draw a breath. Bwahahaha!

Hi. Important!!! Please!!! a mesh, chicken wire or plastic cover with holes MUST be on the bucket to prevent Any child from falling inside. Thanks.
