Icefall buff was one of my favorite things. Old icefall sacrificing your movement meant you had 1 of 2 situations 1. You are defending vs something that isn't threatening enough that you wouldn't be better off killing 2. You are defending vs some damage momentarily that you wouldn't have survived otherwise, but the actual impact on the activity your playing isn't changed and you would have had just about the same impact as hiding behind cover. It went from being as "exotic" as hiding behind cover, to enabling you to stay at the forefront of battle as an ice tank. Losing the surges is a bit of a minus, but its a worthwile sacrifice to take the exotic from good in patrols into viable everywhere
@TheArcturusProject I explained how it wasn't good in the past, but I didn't specifically say what's good about it now, so that's a somewhat fair response. Now with the healing and constant uptime of frost armor you have a feedback loop of tons of stasis shards generated which feeds into your entire team's melee cooldown, while being mobile and defensive. The old design rewarded playing bad or making mistakes, which once you become slightly better (not even sweaty but just more experienced) you get less and less reward from the exotic, while now it rewards interesting decisions in moment to moment gameplay, and interesting decisions during build making Lastly, its best use pre rework was as a can't die button, and all "can't die" buttons are infinitely more boring than the sweatiest copy/paste meta stuff.
The Exotic Titan Mark with the Drengr's Aspect, Khepris, and Hoarfrost is a LOT of fun Shatter, Ignite, and suspend everything. You only notice the suspend if they survive the shatter, but still very fun
I found with Raijus, you can get a big chunk of your super back after casting it. I don't know what's causing it, however. I just keep finding that I'll sometimes get half my super back almost instantly. On top of that, if you use Tempest Strike into a crowd, the jolt on it when it kills gives a good chunk
Don't get me wrong I love that Mask of the Quiet One now gives Devour, I just wish it did something a little more unique, you know? I had an idea where volatile pulses granted ability energy and extra health for your allies when you have controlled demo equipped
Blight Ranger losing the ability to generate Orbs has literally killed it. It was trash before, but the Orbs it could make was nutty and good for teammates. Now it's just straight shit.
Now here's a bit of an odd question that might be up your alley as the forgotten exotics guy. Especially since it's a potential... side/unofficial buff via a changing of game mechanics? With the changes to barricades now "taunting" enemies , how do Citan ramparts perform? Think it might be able to offer a new niche with the change or will the nerf it applies to barricades health only become more apparent with this change? They seem pretty paper thin in pvp, but how healthy/weak is it in pve now that enemies will actually fire at it?
I haven't returned to Citan's since my video on it a few months ago. That being said, I have noticed the taunt with the stock barricade, and it seem pretty decent. With that ALSO being said, the enemies you taunt definitely target the barricade, not you. So if you simply peak around the side, you'll more than likely be safe. It kinda removes the need for Citan's in that regard, but it's definitely something I'll have to keep my eye on in the next week or so. As far as the barricade's strength, last time I tried it with Citan's, it definitely was weaker, but it still withstood a decent amount of incoming fire before breaking. If the numbers in this update are to be believed, a barricade under the influence of Citan's should be able to handle about twice as much beating before collapsing. Sounds great on paper, but I can't say anything for certain until I actually tinker with it.

Titan Mains, we are eating so fucking good this season: Icefall with the new exotic stasis gl is the most fun I've had in destiny in a long time, stasis is now as cool as I wished/hoped/dreamed it would be during the beyond light reveal!
Mask of the Quiet one now invalidates devour on not 1, but 2 different Warlock subclasses. Just delete Warlocks at this point since the other 2 classes just do everything better.
I was most hyped for Blight Ranger's changes but still left me disappointed. Picking up Raiju's perks was a great choice but the reflect damage is kinda trash. They would need to up the damage by a lot to make it worth running in PvE. You also run into the issue where some of the ads arn't as aggressive as they need to be to justify using it. It's cool exotic but by Bungie playing it safe and not giving it the reflect the damage it deserves it will always be a meme pick.
I’m against the way Bungie handled the Icefall mantle rework. It feels too much like a stasis themed Crest of Alpha Lupi. The overshield and stasis surge (especially no stasis super requirement) made icefall a quality pick if you needed a huge burst of tanking and dps at the cost of mobility and class ability. I’ll miss it, but I’m not too torn up because Icefall now allows me to run a different aspect than tectonic harvest while being able to acquire frost armor
My ideal rework would’ve replaced the stasis surge with the ability to build up frost armor like we can now. This way you can build into frost armor anyway while having an overshield that would stack with frost armor, granting (as far as I remember) 700+ Effective HP.
Balidors could still be quite good with return, since you can cancel the second volley of stasis by shattering earlier, extending your super by about 35% and doing more shatter to get more stacks off Also love the change for Mask of the Quiet One, my first exo. It now truely has emergency healing
Icefall is much better in low to mid game content including things like dungeons but things like GM's where frost armor is practically useless there were actual uses for icefall being that it granted 62.5% dr, 100 extra hp, and a 25% damage buff and unlike in other content you don't exactly move much anyways so the downside is basically none existent. So I guess if this is good or not depends on the content you play.
I hope we get more surge reworks. Fuck surge exotic armors. That shit is super wack. Making your exotic be some glorified legendary pants is not cool. I miss the stacking damage of path of burning steps
Balidorse feels even more ass honestly. Yeah on paper it’s sounds ok but the bonus shatter damage being only from your super that YOU have to freeze is lame. This is made even worse if your teammates are also running stasis because then now you have to fight your teammates for freezes just to get the bonus damage.
stasis is still weak and icefall mantle doesnt allow you tank one shot abilities like before now if frost armor has higher DR like 40%DR in PVE and 20% in PVP it would've been better but as of right now it still feels situational.
the fact that raijus (inconsistently) restores up to 50% super energy on super use like orpheus makes me think they worded it badly and that you dont actually get super energy off regular kills, just kills with the super. im still annoyed that sanguine punishes you for using kinetic weapons. i just wanna sit in a rift all day with a ToM but that would mean bungie give us a reason to use ToM.
It was bound to happen, it's used in a lot of the solo raid speed runs for a reason. It's a bit of an outlier, and it's not like it was nerfed into the ground. I'm quite happy it has a purpose in PvP now and it has less restrictions for PvE personally.

Icefall was nerfed. Plain and simple. It's not bad, but it doesn't fulfill the ice tank fantasy they were going for. They could have just left it as it was, or better yet, given it old whisper of chains and got rid of the regen cooldown. The slow movement was mostly a hinderance in pvp. Most people who like the changes never actually gave it a fair shot or just called it a bad exotic. Sometimes I wonder if bungie actually tests these changes.
I used it bunch and at one point it was my favorite exotic, to me this was a buff. The icefall mantel movement debuff was really painful to deal with, to the point that you constantly had to get rid of the shield if you wanted to jump or get fast to an objective. Now it's much better for stasis builds, you have your class ability faster and if you want the damage back you can just put the mods in your legs for elemental stasis damage (which are easy to proc with charged with light in stasis)
I used to be able to run in at a champion with my sword and kill it before my icefall overshield broke and get out safely. Just imagine what it could have been with the now buffed unbreakable aspect and diamond lance frost armor slam.
Now I go into a lost sector and get shredded by acolytes and only last a second longer from the 5% health I get from frost armor gains. You can't kill fast enough or have enough enemies to outheal the damage you are taking, nor can the stasis shards really help all that much. Stasis titan had it easy enough to get frost armor, and now even more with diamond lance's buff. So why do I need this?
