Recently purchased a 501CM. Have been trying to learn as much about Hasselblad as I could.
Your video has really increased my confidence in using the camera. You have taken much of the mystery
    out of it. Many thanks..........Steven

Hey, Mike great tutorial! I have a 500cm camera myself. The camera has been acting up lately and I was wondering what the name of the pliers you used in this video. this would be a big help!

Good Stuff!.... Just the sound of the shutter is worth the watch. Thanks again I'm really interested in tinkering with cameras and just bought some tools

I'm working on a Hasselblad 500 C, just to show how it look's when i go further into the shutter mechanism, and advance mechanism, A film will come sooner :-)

I see the light traps are a bit worn around the bottom of the image aperture. The metal is quite soft, and wear is incurred as users "slap" on a magazine and locate it by sliding it down ("abrading" it down!) until the two foot catches engage. That's not the way to do it. Magazines should be gently placed on the foot catches first, then swung in at the top with the thumb-latch already open, and then the button released when stainless hooks are fully home.
Hasselblad 500C camera chassis metal is really a bit soft. If you want them to keep operating, you have to bear that in mind, and go easy on 'em.
Note: That body is quite an old one. Tripod plate is drilled for BOTH large and small threads. Would you believe in later versions they took one away as an "economy," presumably? After that you had to order your body with either large (3/8") or small (1/4") threads.

This is really a treasure video, may I ask all the tools version ?I can not find the right screwdriver for doing this?

You will need some flathead screw drivers, 2mm, 2.4mm 3mm, and they have to fit proper in the screwhead. You will also need a plier for lockrings just like the one I use at around 1:14.
I have add more links in the description below, to different tool.

    Dear Mike,
I wonder if I could ask for your advice. I found a Hasselblad 500cm in working condition. However, the button on the left side for holding and releasing the lens was stuck. After having a look at your nice video I thought I could fix it. After keeping it in the cupboard for several months ( read 1 year) I took it out. I managed to open it. I cleaned the housing of the lens button and it started working. However, while attempting to close I did not attach the winding button properly to the black gear underneath and ended up overwinding it. I did not realize but a small comma-shaped lever was not holding the black plastic gear in place and had flipped back. Finally, after looking at it closely, I found a hair-thin wire spring which was meant to keep the lever in place on the black plastic gear. Look minutely at the position of the gears on your video I managed to put everything back in place.
But by this time there was another problem. When I pressed the release button/black rod the mirror would flip up but the auxiliary shutter would stay open. I would then have to press the silver flat bar above the black rod backwards which would allow the shutter flaps to close but slowly.
Exploring it further I played with a lever just below the wheel for the shutter mechanism. Viola. Now although the mirror does cock and release, the auxiliary shutter flaps close only if I turn the wheel manually or when I recock the mirror.
Any suggestions on how I could fix this?
by the way, thank you for this wonderful video.
    Thanks in advance

When I press the shutter release the shutter in the lens should be released and stay open for the selected amount of time before closing again. But The lens only opens when the shutter button is released. I primarily use an 80mm CF T* lens and it is working just fine at all shutter speeds. The problem seems to be in the body. I hope I have described the problem well enough. At any rate, I can’t use my camera. What do I need to do?

My T setting is not working. It doesn't keep the courtains open. It would interesting to see how it engages the release lever

Sorry, I have no idea where to get spare parts for the old Hasselblad cameras, but maybe you can find some spare caneras on eBay or in a second hand shop.

Good work, however one should know that the tricky part is the reassembling and getting the mirror prerelease back to work as you showed here: ruclips.net/video/PKoHwla8lhs/видео.html

Thank's Andreas, those are older film's, I'm planning to make a new film about how take the Hasselblad 500, and I will at the same talk in the film about the more tricky issues on the re-assemble process :-)
