The T-mode has one extra “feature”. When in the lens is in bulb mode and the shutter is switched to T the lens shutter will be open until you switch the switch on the shutter button from T to O. Very convenient for long exposures.
If You think THIS Hasselblad is one of a kind, I strongly recommend You to search for Rolleiflex SL66 (or 66e 66x 66se), You would be blown away. From purely technical standpoint, it's just on another level
Thank you for this great video. I see dust particles through the focus loupe, the lens is clean, how can I remove them ? Will they appear in photos ? Thank you for your help
I just got me one and was watching your video so I can learn. I noticed that when I take off the film back it lets me trigger the shutter burton. It will not trigger with the back on even when I remove the darkslide. What am I missing?
Just received my 503cw that I bought on eBay. I'm new to your channel and new to medium format and trying to get familiar breaking the camera down. Is there a trick to taking off the A12 film back? It seems to be jammed. I've tried everything from watching your episode on "How to use a Hasselblad 500cm ll How to" but can't figure it out. Any tips or tricks you can provide would be much appreciated. The camera advances and shoots with no problem and using the shutter release seems to be working fine. FYI - I have not loaded any film in the camera, would that make a difference? I just can't get the release button on top of the film back to disengage. Seems like it's frozen. I am a new subscriber to your channel and enjoy watching and ready to learn. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.
@@NicosPhotographyShow Thanks for the reply. I did take out the dark slide and that didn’t fix the problem. I ended up taking the camera to an authorised HASSELBLAD repair and they were able to loosen the button to get the film back off. They told me the button was tight probably from not having used the camera for a long time. Not having used a hasselblad before I didn’t know how much pressure to put on the button without breaking it. They did not charge me for their time and now I’m using the camera without problem and loving it. I appreciate you taking the time to reply and enjoying watching and learning from your channel. Thanks Demos
Here is my version of how to use the Hasselblad pick it up make sure the film is advanced, look down the view finder at your subject matter click the button and you’ve taken a photograph it’s that simple
Hola Nico.
I have a question I know you probably won't see this but I just bought my 500cm a couple months ago and haven't really been using it due to it not really focusing correctly every shot I take seems to be out of focus and im pretty sure its not my vision because I take the same shots on my slr's (while wearing my contacts) and they come out very sharp. any suggestions as to why this is happening? a buddy of mine took a photo on my camera and it came out pretty sharp. so I know its not the camera. this is my first medium format camera ive ever bought but im starting to regret dishing out that much money for a camera that I essentially can't even use due to this issue. anyone have any suggestions? (my vision is terrible I wear contacts) should I perhaps start using my glasses when I use it?
@@JH-pt6ih haha yeah I just bought a waist level finder and used the critical focus on there and everything was fine. I think it was something wrong with the prism I was using. I don't think the focus was accurate with it.
fantastic intro. One callout (maybe I missed it): do you need to depress the shutter release the entire duration of the shutter speed (e.g. at 1s, hold release for at least 1s)
The Hasselblad backs have an ISO reminder, but unless you have a metered prism the camera doesnt really care what film is inside. Most users use an external light meter and they set the ISO there, the back is a good reminder in case you change often.
@@NicosPhotographyShow Haha, no worries, I just found the idea of stripping back up together funny in my head. English is also not my first langauge :)

This is still the smartest, most informative camera/film site out here. Another great video Nico. So glad I found you!
Absolutely one of a kind camera. I am not how they could pull of this level engineering .

My favorite camera. They would make millions if they were to produce and sell them again.
Greatest camera of all time.
Thank you for showing us this. Now I have a better understanding of my hasselblad
Thanks Nico, I own a 500cm and still learned a couple of things.
Thank you so much for another incredibly valuable video!
Glad it helped!!
This is one of the best tutorials I’ve seen. Great job.
Glad you think so!
Great detailed video. Appreciate it.
Very nice explanation. Hopefully I need it soon 🎉
Thanks for the fast and very effective video😁
Best looking and best sounding middleformat camera. Unfortunately Hasselblad did never build a 6x9 Version. So i bought a Fuji G690 in the 80ies
NICO wtf is that gigantic konica cannister?
Op/tech does those strap lugs. I have been lurking your store to find one of those or compatible. Like mamiya for example has the same lugs.

Is the darkslide inside when you try?

Hasselblad 503 CX + Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 50mm. Worth the investment!
Nico, do you have this video for RZ67? please share me the link if you do. thank you.
I will soon, need to do a few videos before.
Great video
What is that device on the top right corner of the video? Is that a light meter?
It is.

You should write a how to book!! I think you might be on to something.

On KEH I’m noticing Hasselblad A12-6x6 120 Film Back for V System there are many different options. Why is that?
They made different variations. C12, A12, A12N, they all do 120 film 6x6 negs
Thank you very much

A year later and I'm just curious if you got this worked out. :)

I shoot the 503 but really what caught my eye was the beautiful K1000
Always good to have some eye candy!

Yes. If you prematurely let go, the secondary baffle closes and the film is not properly exposed.
Could anyone recommend a lens that would be ideal for product shots for the 500cm?
You probably want to look into the 120mm macro or the 135mm and macro rail.
@@NicosPhotographyShow thank you so much! I'll definitely look into them.
Love your videos. Very informative. 🙏🏼❤️🤗
I am afraid that it WILL let you remove the dark slide, even if there is film in the magazine...
Well done.
Is it possible to have back focusing issues with a 500c/m? Can I use LV using a digital back?
Focusing with ultra bright screen?, Open f-stop & focus the lens.
Should my hasselblad be stored cocked (white windows) or uncocked (red windows) please explain why
Cocked always.
Awesome piece of kit! Do you have any experience using it with a flash?
how to set the ISO?

Wonderful listing to your mouth breath
strip it back together? :-)

120 mm lol. Hear that a lot, nice one.
50mm, 80mm & 150mm
"Not 120mm" 😂😂😂
Just 50% less.
