In the summer of 1996, there was a white guy from Missouri who worked with kids in Japan, and he listened to this album non-stop! Happiest memories of his life.
I'm so happy I got to see Del La Soul live in Mississauga at a free outdoor concert about 5 years ago. I was a big fan in the early 90s but got more into Jamaican Ska, some of the harder Brazilian jazz and and various forms of funk and funky world music like Fela Kuti. Then Del La Soul offered all of their albums for free download because of the label dispute that only ended a few months ago. I downloaded it all and loved almost the entire catalog of their work. They played all their classics at the concert as well some newer stuff and I loved every minute of it. I couldn't convince any of my now old and lame friends to go so I went by myself and still had lots of fun. The crowd was great.
You will always bet on Track No.2 - after an intro - to be the best on any LP. Short of the title song Stakes is High, this one IS the best joint on this beautifull, ´Grammy should be gettin´ record.
What does "whoop whoop thats sound of tha poor" mean ?? Ik it's krs1 reference but what does sound of tha poor mean n what does it have to do wt this song ??
@@yOGlo you're looking too deep. Act like you've heard de la before. there are two water drips right before he said that. Water gets poured. Sounds of the pour. He's simply playing with words. #thankyoudave
@@copywrite9120 ohh ok that actually make sense... ya I've been wondering ever since I was young Boi n this is like tha first time I've seriously asked about that in this song even tho I've heard so many times
This track just bangs and couldn't be more relevant today.
For real for real. It's like it gets more and more relevant as more time passes.
Their ENTIRE CATALOG just finely aged like a bottle of Merlot your spouse wants to celebrate your 20th anniversary with!
Rest In Power Dave Aka Trugoy 🙏🙏🙏
Smartest move to remind the world of the genius of De La Soul. This cut was one of my absolute favorites from the period.

That's a dope experience, what did you do working with them? Was it teaching them? Just curious bc those do indeed sound like some happy memories.
White guys cant enjoy de la now?😂JK keep those memories safe and they'll live forever brother
In middle school this CD would be in my 5 disc changer with tribe, busta rhymes, cypress hill, and Erik sermon. Memories man

Dela Soul are the best Supa Microphone Checkers with one of the best Disk Jockey in the game. Maseo is one of the last Mohicans left.

Would have loved to hear that interlude after the track, maybe it’s on the next song in the album sequence
Comon now ! The truth vibe to that , Word Y'all !! 💯💯
Major thing missing right now is my car audio system from back then, namely the thumping JL 10" subs in the trunk.
Supa Emcees... Indeed🗿
