- The ArkUp is a solar powered, self-sufficient, electrically propelled floating mansion that can transform any harbor in the world into prime waterfront real estate. A masterpiece of sustainable engineering, This 4 bedroom floating home rests on a set of retractable hydraulic legs that anchor it to the seabed and completely stabilize the vessel, even lifting it out of the water. If you get bored of the view, you have the freedom to lift off and use silent electric motors to cruise somewhere else for a change of scenery.
Airbnb: www.airbnb.com/associates/955...
A zero emission offgrid home, the innovative ArkUp lets you live lavishly with total autonomy. Thanks to a massive solar panel array and battery storage system, the arkup doesn’t require any fuel, and with rainwater harvesting, you can live onboard indefinitely.
I recently got the opportunity to go onboard the ArkUp 75 and get a tour of it’s innovative features from co-founder and CEO Nicolas Derouin. We crawl into a bunch of compartments, look at all types of gauges, and discuss the green technology behind the sleek glass facade of this forward looking vessel.
At a length of 75 feet, with 4,350 square feet of living space, achieving energy independence onboard the ArkUp is no easy task. The lithium ion battery system provides power for all onboard systems, home appliances, and electric propulsion. The type of battery is similar to batteries used in electric vehicle's like the Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model S, or Tesla Model Y, or the Tesla Cybertruck. This large yacht is custom designed and engineered. It is definitely not a tiny home, or a container house.
The ArkUp comes equipped with two 100 kilowatt azimuth electric thrusters, that provide silent and vibration free electric propulsion.
The houseboats large rectangular roof acts as an ideal platform to harvest solar energy, but the vessels shape creates a tradeoff for propulsion efficiency in its use as a solar boat, solar yacht, electric boat, or electric yacht.
Set atop the ArkUp’s 2,400 square foot roof, The Solar panel system consists of 110 325 Watt panels that generate 36 Kw of power. Considering the size of your average home solar installation is about 7kw, this is quite a large system.
Born of these dutch roots in shipbuilding and architecture, the ArkUp was designed by WaterStudio NL under the leadership of sustainable design veteran Koen Olthuis. Inspired by dutch floating communities, the experimental concept envisions the future of aquatic living and address the issues of urban growth, rising seas, and dependence on fossil fuels.
I’ve had the opportunity to check out a few different solar yachts for this channel including silent yachts and Greenline yachts.
Everywhere the ArkUp goes its an instant attraction. As the hulking vessel sailed through Biscayne Bay, it was surrounded by a swarm of onlookers who just had to get up closer for a photo. In person the ArkUp is visually striking, like a modern miami mansion lifted from its foundation and plopped into the water.
Being onboard the ArkUp is certainly a unique luxury experience, but the company’s mission has deeper aspirations. With sea level rise here in southeast florida projected to be 6 to 10 inches by 2030 and 14 to 26 inches by 2060, ArkUp intends to develop water based housing solutions to address the impending climate crisis. They ultimately hope to create more affordable models for the average family, and even develop floating neighborhoods.

This is the kind of reviews, that I like - have you seen one stateroom, one kitchen, one livingroom, etc - you have seen them all, no matter how beautiful and awesome, they might be...
...but having a look at the engineroom, the technique, the dimmensions and what makes the boat run is much, MUCH more interesting.
Thanks Dan we try to structure these videos as more of a “technical tour”
That thing is awesome! The views are the best part!
360 ocean views 🌅
Nice green floating house!
Wow.....it's really cool man! thanks for sharing & very much appreciated!
Congratulations on this amazing video
this is the most beautiful aerodynamic vessel I have ever witnessed
Is that sarcasm? The thing is basically a box. It's probably the least aerodynamic vessel ever! Eco-dynamic however... Add a large Sky
Kite, + Vertogen V.A.W.T.s at each corner, and your set.
Wow great see tomorrow today
this is so awesome
This home has become my dream home .
This was the best video well describe with all dimensions better than any of the other videos out there absolutely brilliant this is how you get things sold I take my hat off to guy
I love the concept. One point that is not addressed at all is the operating cost. For yachts we are speaking of 10% of the purchased price as yearly operating cost. I assume it should be less for this concept, but still quite hefty.
Yeah would have been good to include a section running some cost comparisons. I’ve done it In previous videos but just focused on the technology in this one
Very cool house boat.
It’s a cool off grid house
6:15 That's where I live!! Urk❤😱
no way! what’s it like?
@@ElectricFuture Oh, I didn't see your reaction. It's a nice place to live. It used to be an island but now it isn't. But the people who live in Urk still see it as an island. We even say we live ON Urk😃.
We are also active in other nautic sectors. Like those floating boat houses. But we also "build" big ships who transfer big stuff.
I'm 17 years old now and following a nautical study. Later I want to work in the engineroom. But I have to confess, I like electronic motors and stuff more than a conventional diesel engine.
Also a big Tesla fan🤫
I really want one, but Somalia 😭
🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣
I would have thought you would have preferred a mudhut bro😂
Amazing
This video was so good I subscribed instantly. Thank the recommendation gods
This is a stupid comment. If that were the case you could say that about ANY yacht anchored out . If someone doesn't see it, then they would probably be too shit faced drunk to drive a jet ski.
Thanks MoriartySan. This one was fun to make too!
For all the criticism they get RUclips is pretty good at that.
@@macrichardson7440 Says the one that copied a comment
@@ElectricFuture all i need to no is the height width length size and weight and if it can be put on a shipping vessel and all we need to do is agree a price please get back to me
No water maker? And they good easy make more power with a wind generator on the roof and some propellers under the boat or pods that generate power through water movement while the boat is standing on its 4 legs
Nice Cyberyaht bro!
This is cool, while developing maritime mobility fuel cell tech can also enable consistent fresh water access & oxygen production (from electrolysis) that can additionally enable submersible potential (whether from scuba, submarinal vehicle, or maybe even the whole structure). Climate change also has brought major storms that can sometimes be better avoided *under the water, as well.
It could also be engineered to withstand the worst storms, thus living in one of these in international waters would become an option.
Nice concept, but I'm not sure about the value you get for the money.
With $5.5 million you can buy a villa, a very decent yacht and have money to spare.
What about $3560 per night? 😉
If you rent it for 2 days and you get 8 people there that would be $890 for that weekend per person.
Not bad at all. 😉✌️ $445 per night.
Cheaper than most rooms in 5 star's hotel 🤷
@@Thatsthai2023 nothing stopping you from renting out a yacht either
yeah I agree would rather buy a silent Yacht 55 a tesla end of the world vehicle a villa or two and keep the change
@@Thatsthai2023 fucking hel your on it bro
GREAT IDEA FOR AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR POOR
and then a waterspout twister comes and whoosh! up up and away!
Just engineer the structure to withstand the high seas and you've got a cool seasteading concept!
3D printing of this house boat with carbon fibre composite and alongwith stabilization technology.
now that's an idea
This beats a house any day.
So basically this thing is not suitable to go more than a few miles due to unsuitability for open waters yet has all of the high costs and maintenance associated with a full yacht yet encompasses all of the disadvantages of a yacht like massive depreciation and outright cost. The cost of this could have been 25% of what it is and just make it tow-able so it can still do the occasional short trip it will do from time to time. This is actually in competition with a coastal house and not a yacht and the house is a decent investment and can't sink. Good luck selling this or even making any more. It's a science project and little more. I'm a fan of new technological innovation, but not for the sake of the sake of it.
Can I put one on lay-away🤦♂️🤣🤣
intersting concept but this sort of high tech vessel will become a maintenance trainwreck even faster than regular yachts.
I want one
Oh yeah...please take my money :-)!!
Those giant hydraulic cylinders must be pretty expensive.
What is the house boat made from and what the life expectancy of the external material
I mean it's cool for a Miami waterfront floating guest house. Or taking it to watch the city's fireworks display.
Looking for a place with minimal landscaping costs then this place is for you.. of course it's likely food shopping will become your next nightmare!
I like this concept but I would want an electric back up so I am not relying on batteries or their cost to replace etc.
Basically a well built, small-sized barge with electric motors attached,. The propulsion system does not have the performance needed to justify the cost of their installation. Otherwise, as a living space, this is an awesome design.
Huge battery in there.
YOU GET AN EXPENSIVE HOUSE BOAT
Very impressive. Do you deliver to Australia?
assume you get 5% efficiency with solar thermal electric, and 95%, the remaining as hot water, raise up to catamaran
26 inches by 2060 ... something tells me thats not gonna be the reason why people buy this over the next 40 years but it is super cool though :)
interesting as a concept but for the money I rather have a displacement hull instead of a floating platform that cannot handle the ocean
Would this be customizable?
For example, would it be possible to fit a garage on this thing? Every mansion has a garage you know ;)
Since it can stabilize itself with the 4 pillars, it could have a ramp so you can park your car directly from the port onto this
if you’ve got the cash, anything is possible.
It sounds great, however, the structure might be able to withstand hurricanes but I don't think the solar panels would. And if those go, you're stuck in the middle of nowhere with no way to get to land and probably no cell service to call anyone. Also the legs can only go 20ft deep so if there was mass flooding, they would also be useless. Plus, if the planet warms up and causes volcanic activity, the aerosols would prevent sun to get to the solar panels.
If Tesla made a motor home in the ocean, this would be the result.
Roblox Roleplaying tesla + nl 😂
This is way better than a tesla.
Siward Beorn Calm down
if given the choice id rather stick to traditional luxury yatch, which is ocean worthy
Hay at least they are no calling it a yacht or catamaran
What if you put one in a swamp or pond ?
"Off-Grid" it's a 5 million dollars Square boat, and for 5 million dollars it better be self-sufficient.
Fuuuckin sic dawg.
I'm just concerned with longevity
Solars great, dropping the feet into the river bed every time you stop would be a environmental sin though, clearly not water way minded people. Love the idea just not the feet, ok in a harbour but tell me that anyone that owns one won’t want to go to some pretty reef and drop those feet like 4 big compactors drills.
Imagine if Ocean Water goes up this home maybe this answer
Yachts have sails. Its a house boat
C'est étrange ! je comprends très bien l'anglais de ce gars à 1:49 !!! LOL
Tous les anglophones devraient parler comme lui !!!
Is gyroscopic stabilisation used in this
Not on this vessel. It’s intended for short trips and to be anchored in shallow depths with the spud system.
While the shot of this video inside where the vessel anchored throught the shot
It felt very stable
@@abhaykrishnakj It was completely stable. My camera work is a different story, but I'm working on it. 😄
By the way Thanks to introducing the future 😁👍🏻
My future is fully charged
I checked it out already. And is $3560 per night 🤔
well... If you rent it for 2 days and you get 8 people there that would be $890 for that weekend per person.
Not bad at all. 😉✌️ $445 per night.
Note: hopefully taxes are included, if they aren't, well, do the math 🤷
£20,000 a week to rent it. That’s an incredible return on investment.
Not if it's only rented 5 weeks out of the year
filmislife77 check the availability on Airbnb it’s booked for the next 3 months at 3,600$ a night that’s about 300,000$ not to mention other dates booked throughout the year!
"AirBnB link in description"

🥺😭😭😭😭😭 I want it I want it 😩😩😩😩😩 but I’m broke 😖😖😖😫😫😭😭😂😂😂😂😂 can I get it on an it tech income? 🤔 or would it b cheaper to build one myself 😄
That is not made by Tesla btw. And yes it already exists
I saw the thumbnail, and i said only MIami....saw the video, YYUUPP. only thing that is new is the Salt build up
Are you gonna buy one?
Maybe one day
This has also been for sale for over 2 years now
Nah this is the Airbnb one they build you the ships you just gotta order em
The question is can it cross the ocean safely?
With luck, probably. But otherwise, no. This one is obviously made for staying close to shores in relatively quiet seas - the opposite of open oceans. You won't use it to cross the atlantic or pacific oceans, but the mediterranean, the black sea, the persian gulf, the red sea, and large lakes or broad long rivers would probably be ideal. Since the black sea, the mediterranean and the red sea are directly linked by straits, these would probably be ideal areas for it, since you could move it around with a great degree of freedom without having to cross iit nto the great open oceans where waves can become big, unvieldy, and the distances enormous (remember this thing has a max speed of 5-6 knots).
@Demad777, If you have a death wish. lol
What about post mail ?
drone delivery? 📦 🤣
How to work filter for water ? 14:30
It's just a house boat, isn't it? People had been living in them forever.
Could it technically cross the Atlantic Ocean? 🌊
no way
It could,if you were to put on one of those yacht carrier ships.🤔
That's all cool but how to u get uber eats delivered?
Drone
Cool, but inconvenient.
Typical Miami Daddy money. These two scientists lived on an old sailboat and suddenly can afford a 5 million dollar house? Lol
how the hell does 40kw solar system cost 130k while 80k one costs 600k? wtf.
cool, but it needs some sound management. It sounds like he is talking inside a tin can.
Probably more to do with my microphone setup
I could also see if this Ship were captained by a Fool they could totally destroy a Reef.
yes that is definitely a major consideration. never want to drop those spuds on anything living
Might be just the thing to survive rising sea levels
Big waves, Stormy weather, Slow Speed and Very Good Idea with Bad Designs and Implementations.

You keep mentioning "sustainable".....but there is so much energy and waste around solar tech. This is a rich person's folly.
Rising sea levels. 🙄🙄🙄
Lmao!!! A rich Liberal elitist that's worried about "global warming"?! Ha! That's the funniest shit I've heard so far this year.
we dont need that because when the land on earth is shoulder to shoulder then the water will become the same
Y use tesla while the system is corvus shame on yu
That is a crappy setup in several ways. The battery and propulsion system is an utterly inadequate hazard-in-waiting, and failing to put it on a reasonable hull design is both lazy and moronic. Many of the "advanced high-tech" features he is bragging about are just standard yacht equipment you'd find on every open-water or livable boat.
Basically, it's a crazy publicity gimmick looking for suckers with more dollars than sense. If all you need to do is sit at harbor in one spot, you could rig any basic houseboat with a solar system for a fraction of that price, and just use the diesel generator to boost a proper electric propulsion to move it, so at least you could move it against modest currents. It's not going to rock enough to matter.
If you actually want to have a thing that can operate as a boat, for that kind of money you could get a real Silent 60 or Silent 80 that are perfectly livable, and those are properly seaworthy. They've done ocean crossings and even a circumnavigation, and the proper catamaran design is more than stable enough to anchor out or sit at pier, homelike, for as long as you like.
Amazing
