I've taken a 30-day challenge to finally sit, every single day, and learn to sew. The actual challenge has projects that I don't think will be useful to me, but know that many of yours will. So I'm going back through your videos to pick out ones to create. Thank you for all you do. I'm finally going to take sewing from spectator sport to participant. 🙂
Alisa, I’m 68 years old and have been sewing since I was a young girl. Just when I think there is nothing new out there in the sewing world for me to learn, you come along with such fresh, “no fear” methods and here I am learning new techniques and sewing with fabrics I never have sewn before! Thank you! Drafting my own blocks with your guidance has been a game changer. I can’t wait to take on this cropped cardigan! Your make is beautiful, so on trend, and will be a great stable piece for your fall wardrobe! 💕
Sewing knit fabric is a little intimidating for me unless it is a 'very' stable knit. Your tutorials are amazing and give me confidence that 'I can do it'. (I am 80.) Alisa, I am currently sewing an oversized shirt jacket. All your sewing tips and tutorials I have watched come flooding back to me and I reference your videos so often. I am adding a lightweight lining to my project. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and beautiful garment ideas. This Cardigan is...another home run.
You amaze me. You are so talented with your drafting and sewing. However, even more impressive to me is your ability to communicate and teach so clearly.❤️ Thank you!
I am enjoying watching your videos. I have been sewing all my life, but have never learned pattern making. I want to try it soon. After watching this video, my thought was that if you had used a stabilizer in the sweater front band, you probably could have used your sewing machine to make the button holes. I really DO enjoy your videos and wish I had learned this skill much sooner!!
Hello, hello Bernice :) I am so glad you are enjoying these videos :) we think alike - I tried on a scrap piece to do a buttonhole with stabilizer/interfacing and it wasn't the best outcome.
@@ThoughtfulCreativity. Thank you for answering her question. I now understand the importance of testing out different methods before going ahead on the actual project - turns out it’s never a good idea, nor a comfortable position, to sew with your fingers crossed 😆 I have yet to try sewing stretch fabric, but under your guidance I am sure I will succeed. I watched your video on bodice pattern drafting, and after some adjustments around the arm hole, I successfully made a top with three quarter length sleeves. I owe you and pledge to donate to your channel before the end of the year. Thank you Alisa!
First, I love your haircut. The length is perfect! Second, the cardigan turned out beautiful. I love the color and style. This is something I would like to try to make for myself so I can wear to the office this winter. Thanks for this video.
Very beautifully explain and it look so beautiful .so ma'am can show to make tight cardigan to loose cardigan by adding extra fabric or similar fabric to the cardigan have .thank you .
Joy, hello there! I actually already have a few on the channel, you can click on my channel name and just take a look - I think you will especially like pink "zero waste" sweater I made last year :)
Please do a video showing how you made the cardigan that you are wearing in this video with those cute bow tie sleeves. That is the cutest thing I have seen. I love it. Please share the details of how to make this in a future video. Thank you
Hello there and thank you, I love it too! I actually have a video, in fact a full mini-series on the channel on how to make it. It is actually a relaxed fit button up shirt, drafted from a bodice block with dart - the mini-series on how to draft one is available for the Members of the channel. The shirt that I am wearing is a variation of that - there is also an overview video available for Members that shows the details of the shirt :)
Hello, thank you. I can't read all of your reply. It cuts off at "The shirt I am wearing is a ..." Please send me a link to that video if possible, and also thank you for all that you do to help the sewing community. I have been watching you for a long time now.😊@@ThoughtfulCreativity
hmmm... that's so odd... but anyways :) I would love to send you the link to the Mini-Series, but it is for Members Only, so you won't be able to view :( but if you are interested - you can see the thumbnails of entire mini series on my channel page :) @@tomihill01
@@ThoughtfulCreativity Hello again, thank you so much. I was finally able to read your whole first message this time as the read more was there this time. I understand now what you were trying to tell me. Unfortunately, things are very tight right now so I won't be able to join the membership. However, from what you have described and by studying the picture of the sleeve I can probably figure it out. I always look forward to your videos.😊
No worries at all :) you have to take care of yourself first and I am happy you are here! Yes, you can totally figure it out - also, not sure if I ever turned with my back in this video, but the back yoke is also that peachy color, works well with the cuffs and the collar being the same color :) @@tomihill01
Your cardigan looks beautiful Alisa! I found your tips really useful and have already made notes for my next cardigan. I've made the free Harper by Sinclair Patterns for my mom twice and am planning to make one for a friend as well (it's a good pattern!), but I did struggle with the front band both times. I'm convinced your centre back trick and hand sewing the bottom will help. Thank you as always for sharing your knowledge! 🧵💙🪡
Hi Joy! Thank you so much. The jacket is actually just a button up shirt that I have drafted from a bodice block, there is a full mini-series for Members about how to draft a button up shirt from a bodice block, and this is one of the variations :)
