never tried a heavier 1RM
My best raw is 500 at a body weight of 230lbs. I don’t know what the percentage of people that can do that.
"Big" Jim Williams was actually the first man to bench over 700 pounds. He did 705, not officially, but before credible witnesses in the gym. Since he held the American record officially at 675, I believe he did get the 705 fifty years ago.
Bob Hoffman, John Kuc, Bob Bednarski, & Ken Leistner were all present to witness Jim Williams bench 725 at their gym
@davidpigozzo5918 I always read that Jim got 705, but I didn't know he peaked out at 725. If it had been official, he would have held the record for many more decades!
@@PinnaclePete If I also remember correctly he attempted 705 at the AAU World or National Championships? It was his 3rd attempt and it stalled on the way up so he was credited with 685 on his 2nd attempt.
@davidpigozzo5918 He used to train the anterior heads of his deltoid because they were such an important muscle for benching. He used a 135 lb. barbell to do front raises for sets of 10!
@@PinnaclePete insane amount of strength for front raises
You forgot those who is record holders clean to… no juice only raw strength. fredrik smulter did the world record 2014 to be the first to lift 400kg without any steroids involved but with help of the shirt
7:30 most impressive considering effort and BW imo
For sure you would three-peat “is bench press dead”
Ruff ruff woof woof
U know I had too
Julius is no1. Everyone knows this. Equipped benches aren't taken seriously but are still impressive.
Same. I respect raw lifting more than equipped lifting. I know it takes skills to use a bench shirt but so does operating a forklift or a crane.
The suits are so stiff that equipped benchers can''t lower the bar into bottom position without two spotters pushing it down. Silly stuff.
Thank you. Was Ted Arcidi's 705 in 1985 considered to be equipped?
Yes, that was single ply.
@@NickWrightsingle ply in 1985 is liken to a tight t shirt in today’s standards. Arcidi should definitely be mentioned, especially since he was the first to do it in a sanctioned competition.
@@beyondthematrix3945Nope! Raw is raw, single ply is single ply.
@@ytsux9259 I still think Arcidi should’ve been at the very least given an honorable mention!
Big bench press in the world Daniel zamani from iran 365 kg
Is there an actual point to wearing gear that helps you lift weights?
Very good video I hope it gets more views. I was proper confused seeing Julius Maddox doing 795 and then seeing people I’ve never heard of doing 1000
Big shoutout to Joseph tumbarello he bout to hit 700 this week 🦾🦾 and he weighs like 250 .
In the 90s I had a 495 bench at 188 pounds and 6 feet tall. That was two heart surgeries ago. I'm in my 50s now and I'm starting to get a little of that mojo back 😊
*That's very impressive (the stats you listed). Just out of curiosity... have you ever used steroids, TRT or PEDs in any way, shape or form at any point (even if it was just one time) in your life? Thanks.*
@@matthewclay6535 I didn't have access to anything like that. I was in prison. Lol. I was pound 4 pound one of the strongest people in the Alabama prison system. Shoulder press 225 for reps push. My bench warm up was 225 for 20 reps 315 for 15 reps 405 for 5 reps and 495 for a park and push
What’s Brian Shaws max bp? I’ve seen the guy do reps of 500+ like he’s pushing marshmallows
Good to see another upload Nick!
Surely Maddox can bench 800 now.
My max bench is 70 kg and i felt strong before watching this vídeo 😂😂
Kirill was actually a full meet powerlifter who switched to bench only before going back and iirc setting a total WR in sleeves and Eric Spoto is actually a professional arm wrestler who got into powerlifting thanks to mark smelly Bell. Cheers mate
Are all these 7 benchpressers drug free?
Yes and vegan
I bench 1000 lbs and am 100% natty, so yeah, it's possible.
@@ytsux9259 which championship did u bench 1000lbs?
Great to see you back! Really enjoyed this video and the buildup!
thank god u didnt include danial zamani
PB-315 for 10 reps but I was a bodybuilder. Blew out my knees, shoulder, neck, and lower back. Now that I’m 60 I’ll look back and wish I had played golf. Lol. Bury me massive! That was our credo. Hell I don’t know if I had to do all over again I’d probably do the same damn thing. Awesome time to be a bodybuilder in the 80s and 90s. Hell awesome time to be alive. Probably go down in history as the best time to be alive in this country. I miss it.
They all look terribly out of shape
Hi , totally clean , raw benched 495 at 200 lb body weight for 5 reps . Going to push the envelope for a max and record it post a nearly ton push .
Do you have a video of you lifting 495 lbs at 200 lbs body weight for 5 reps?
But what are their VO2 maxes, resting heart rate, mile, 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon times..... and more importantly will they live past 50? 😉🤔🤔🤔🤔
Really enjoyed this video. TD is so underrated imo.
New boy in town Big Bake!
Just a small correction, Scot Mendelson weighed 318lb when he did his 715lb WR. Amazing, and I think Eric Spoto was 322
If you ain't Naked you ain't Raw
Great perspective on bench pressing as well as bringing light to the current record holders.
Not a perspective it’s facts
@@bull5919 aww, look at you with your panties in a bunch. You have your panties so much in a bunch that all you do is leave negative comments.
I restarted working out from 6 July 23, and my current 1rm is 225 at 176 bw
I can do 1000 raw. I'm just to shy to show you all .
my best bench is 120 pounds at 13 years of age
How much do you bench
*1400lbs 💀*
Equipment lifting is dumb.
I am so lame, l love lifting weights at my apartment with nothing more than shorts, t shirt and chalk, and yes, I'm heavy on chalk. Don't use belt, because I'm fat, so no belt. No wraps, both for elbows or knees, l find these are a hindrance for a natural lifter. I'm 5.8 ft tall, 229 pounds, 62 yrs old and won't break any records. But I'm telling you guys right now, keep up your deads and squats, and burpees are great also, do them, do them, they are a positive
7:23 def juiced 🧃
You forgot Ted Arcede! He was the first to bench 705
The modern guys are trying to say he did it equipped. Which is bullshit.
My max is off the charts. Off the charts on the low end that is.
What about Zumani dude or whatever his name is
1400 equipped Jimmy Kolb 😉😉
If you lift raw or equipped and you love what you do, then what does it matter what anyone else is doing. Raw and equipped lifters have been hating on each other for so long that why does it even matter. Work out the way you want and be happy. I love lifting raw while training because of the way it makes me feel. When I compete I want to lift the most amount of weight possible even if it means using equipment because I get a different feeling from competing since its not about the pump and more about a 1 rep max. You all are amazing weather its raw or equipped. Keep up the hard work who ever you are
I watched that 800 attempt live, tragic fucking mistake, I don't know how you don't double and triple check when a man is about to have 800lbs over him. I have 0 doubts he'll get it if he stays healthy. Man's doing for benching what Eddie Hall did to the deadlift and pushing the envelope, going from gradual increases to suddenly smoking the world record by such a large margin is just crazy.
My joints hurt just watching this video.
