@@alanaliyev456GT No if he wasn't disabled his upper body would not be as strong as his body would have to supply for normal sized lower body. He would do more than he does now but only by a few kgs maybe. Take a look at his gigantic forearms, his disability in a way helped him to develop them. He would not use his forearms as much if he was not disabled

When I was in high school, 2 of the Power Team guys came to my school for motivational speaking. One was James Henderson. I was in the front row so he used me as an example, then gathered another guy close in weight to me. I hovered around 160 lbs back then, usually what I wrestled at in 10th grade. He took a piece of rebar or something and me and the other kid positioned ourselves as human weights on either end. He military pressed us off the ground for 3 reps. He got us into position first, then the reps. When you're a teenager and pre-RUclips, you really don't have a grasp of what's possible. I thought there was no way he'd lift us. It was so strange and awe inspiring at the same time. When he was finished, he took that piece of bar and bent it in half. He also tore a large phone book in half. When I asked him how much he could bench at the time, he told me 650. I read about stuff like that in magazines and never seen anything like it up close. I totally believed him. Now with RUclips, you can see that there's several very strong people out there and it's a privilege to be able to see what the human body and mind are capable of.

Plus he’s still one of only 30 men to ever benchpress 650 plus in a full, bench only or push pull meet. He also had the total world record for over 10 years which while it’s been broken since, his 1102 kg total he set back in 1981 would still place him as the 13th or 14th best powerlifter out of over 800 lifters in the world.

Some gyms have only olympic weightlifting barbells. I don't like bench pressing with olympic barbells because the collars spin and they are hard to stabilize. The weight is spinning while I am pushing up and down.

Getting old sucks. I'm only 35 and my elbows just can't take the weight anymore. My muscles can handle it without a problem, but my joints just can't handle the load. Chronic Lyme's disease isn't helping things either. My overhead press is weak too because my right shoulder gets shooting pains if I go close to 150. I'm pretty much maxed out at 130 due to the pain. We take our youth for granted and the new generation is worse than us sitting around all day playing video games and dancing for 5 seconds at a time in front of a phone.

I went to an orthopedic surgeon he put me on anti inflammatory (melixicam)meds and they actually helped a great deal I’m in New Jersey so I went to Brielle orthopedic they were great. I also change my grip and used rubber rings to create a better grip without joint pain. I have elbow straps off amazon and it really made a difference.

If para powerlifting had the same rules as traditional powerlifting (minus feet needing to touch the ground) Siamand would have bench pressed 700 pounds. He was 100% strong enough to do it. He should've done that in training at least. RIP.

I will say that if you take steroids away, one man stands alone. James Henderson benched over over 700 multiple times in the IPF. The strictest judging and drug testing in the world. He was tested many times and actually insisted that he be tested. He benched flat backed and feet flat on the floor. No others on this list could do what he did in the manner he did it!
