  • I got to talk to Loius from Milan's Rocket. The espresso machine manufacturers revealed their upcoming machine: the new and improved Appartamento TCA (Temperature Controlled Adjustment). Essentially, its a PID but instead of putting an ugly electronic screen on the front, they kept it classic by implementing the lever to control the temps.
It's a very interesting twist on the way you use PID controllers and I'm keen to see how it goes in the marketplace as I believe it looks so beautiful compared to a lot of the standard e61 machines on the market.
Rocket aren't the cheapest machines around but they certainly have their place and if you're a fan of the Rocket machines and Italian Espresso machines in general then these guys have a great range which you should check out. They build quality machines and integrate technology while keeping a traditional feel to them.
What do you think of Rocket? Would you spend the extra money to get one?
    Enjoy Your brew!

I am super passionate about coffee and educating people on all aspects of this amazing drink. I love bringing the stories back from the other side of the world about how they grow and process the coffee differently on each farm, in each region, and in each country. I also love helping baristas around the world make better coffee for themselves, whether they're at home, professional, competitors and or even just venturing out into the wide world of coffee.

This is the hardest and most complicated way to set temperature :)

Yeah not sold on the brew lever being used as anything but a brew lever. The Mara X method of having a switch underneath is a much simpler way without ruining the aesthetics.

While I can appreciate Rocket's desire to keep the clean classic appearance, I am not sure using the brew lever as an input device is a good idea, looks overly complex and very wet. Perhaps a hidden button or switch would have been better.

Yeh they did it with the Mozzafiato, the PID is behind the drip tray. Not sure how it's cheaper to put it in the lever. Definitely complicates things. 👌

Ask yourself how often you will adjust the temperature. In my case, it would probably be a case of set and forget. In case I do get my hands on a bag of lighter roast beans, it is a breeze to lift the lever once or twice to increase the temperature. I like this idea of how to manipulate the boiler temperature.

I think Luis was one of my favourite vendors to talk to this year at MICE. He has so much passion for the product itself and just a genuine energy to share what he knew.

so basically this is their answer to profitec pro 400. honestly i prefer dedicated switch like pro 400.

With this redesign of the appartamento, can we expect any upcoming changes to the rotary pump machines like the mozzafiato??

It’s like understanding morse code with a lever to do anything on this machine, why not just have some discrete switches?

Stainless steel boiler, no metal poisoning, good move.

Tks for the video! I just got one and am wondering if it is ok to adjust the opv on the tca model. Can opv be adjusted since it changes the boiler pressure? Or are boiler and brew pressure completely independent?

That lever as setting input is trash... Should have just added a display with buttons lol! The appearance of sophistication at the cost of complexity.

Need some help please. I want to go from my Flair 58 to either the Puristika or maybe even this new Apartamento so I can keep things very compact for my space and still make the best espresso. Do I keep the Flair or try one of these units or can you recommend a better idea please. Thank You!

I think this looks really nice. Will there be any similar design refreshes with the R58 Cinquantotto or the Cronometro Mozzafiato R?

I thought the gimmick on the new appartamento was a joke at first. 3 flashes for this, 4 flashes for that, all controlled on the brew lever but, its no joke It's real lol. Whoever design that needs to be fired. It needs to be a switch end of story. All their doing is making it complicated and making it easy to go for a different machine.

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  2 месяца назад

Yeh I have to agree, it was a bit confusing with all the different flashes. 😅

The only downside of this machine it doesn’t have a PID. That’s why I didn’t choose this one for that amount of money. You guys should have a PID stop being so cheap.😊😊😊

TCA way over priced for its feature set Rocket. Don't get me wrong its a looker for sure but too mean on the features of a HX when more than some dual priced boilers and not far off some all sing and dancing machines. Its a nope from me sorry, I think this might sell on its aesthetics and name only.
