Couple recommendations I have - use a dremel and chop those bolts off(not that big of a deal though, depending on what you store). Use silicon packets (or whatever they're called) to keep in there. If you're in a hot state you will still get moisture in there and the packets will really help. Also, instead of that plastic sealant I would use rubber grommets and/or hot glue. I don't think you're going to have that much trouble coming up from the bottom where the bolts are, but hot glue and rubber grommets are a 100 times easier to remove later than the plastic sealant. Also, I would store that extinguisher outside under your tent in a place way easier to get to. Awesome video George!
Great video! I did the pelican 1750 and they are great, I did how ever drilled a smaller hole just enough to fit the bolt (1/4) and I used rubber washers with metal fender washers for the outside and inside the case and it has held up pretty good so far. Just my 2 cents. Either way, great setup!
I put 2 of these on my cap rack but installed 2, 20lb gas struts per case to keep the lid open and I also put a piece of 3in wide aluminum flat bar in between the bolts to add strength and make sure the bolts don't rip out of the plastic bottom
Love the set up! To prevent the lid from opening all the way. I just used Paracord and loop it through the middle lock holes. I used just enough to where it opens and doesnt flop over. I burnt the end of the paracord together and holds solid!
If you get some cheap Harbor Freight furniture pads cut them to fit the bottom things don't bounce around too much. When they get too messed up, just throw them away. I've found this works great in hard cases
Good video, only suggestion would be to move that fire extinguisher outside of the box (Think fire in the truck...) and to add some locktite to those nuts :)
Nice video I did something very similar myself. I have one suggestion and one piece of advice. My suggestion I put a bracket on the lid of the box and fastened my max tracks to that it frees up a lot of space. My piece of advice would be to get two flat bars drill holes into them and fasten it down with the bolts reason being that box is only held on by four nuts and a couple of washers if you hit something hard Or have to break extremely fast with the weight of the objects in the box it will more than likely rip clean off your roof rack those couple of washers aren’t gonna hold it when living in Australia I’ve seen this happen three or four times . you need to brace the box to the roof rack two pieces of flat bar running to the nuts will hold the box to the roof rack as is , it’s not the greatest idea. No criticism or anything intended just trying to help out hope you don’t mind.
Looks good. My only concern is why did you mount it on the passenger side? I put mine on the drivers side, so when I’m stuck or whatever reason I need to get to it, I open my door and stand on my rock sliders to get to all of it. If you’re stuck in deep water or mud you’re kinda screwed getting to your passenger side without making a huge unwanted mess.
It's not very convenient to have to unlock a box on roof if there is a fire you need to put out. Your fire extinguisher should be mounted in the cab (under the seat, behind the seat) somewhere it's accessible.
I bought the same one last year. Was debating with either the classic or vault series. Went with vault since it was cheaper and has the subtle orange accent. Also i noticed u did the same as I did with mounting on the passenger since originally. I wanted to install on the driver side but then the wheels was facing the front which looked tacky. Great choice nonetheless braddah!
Iv got this box on my truck also and it’s such a great box. If you use the lid pad of foam I had to use spray adhesive to keep it down .. keep up the great work dude love the vids
Put your fire extinguisher inside the cab too. If you should be in a rollover you lose access to your medical and fire suppression gear. Be safe. Otherwise a good video. Thank you.
Just installed two of these on my roof rack and after using them I have to say I’m pretty unhappy with the latches on the ends of these boxes it’s just a pain in the ass undoing the end latches and the lids feel cheap and flimsy. Think I’ll end up going with actual pelican air boxes with just latches down the side and more robust. Out $400 on these since I drilled through the bottoms to mount 🤦♂️
is this also your daily driver? im thinking of getting a truck for overlanding, but it'll also be a daily driver - im curious, do you take off the overlanding gear when at home? If you do, how do you store it? I'm not trying to drive around with a tent or rig on my bed 24/7 - would love to see how you might handle that
@@daltonw7439 I'm not sure. What I do know is that front runner has proprietary table brackets that install on the underside of their racks. The table then slides in. Whether you can adapt them to another manufacturer's rack, I don't know. The front runner tables aren't cheap. I'm using an oztent bi fold table with my FJ.
@@daltonwalker49 I just know of the table when I was research a roof rack for my FJ Cruiser - I was seriously considering a Front runner rack; the table that slides under the front runner rack is not cheap (about $400 plus). I went with a warrior rack which I have been please with. And I bought an Oz Table (stand alone table - does not go into a roof rack) for less that $100.
I’ve seen a bunch of videos on this subject where they use silicone/sealant like you. I still don’t get it. Water isn’t going to flow “up” into the case. And if water does get into the case somehow it will most likely be from the lid being opened in a downpour. In other word I don’t see the need to waterproof/“seal” a case like this. Worst case is you drill a hole for your hardware that just fits that hardware and its not too sloppy in the hole.
@@ryanskeete yes that's what I would do too. I'd hate to deal with sealant if I wanted the box off. I'm sure regular washers with the proper size hole would work, but rubber washers would definitely seal it up good

Add dri deck inside its great stuff. It raises everything up and creates air flow under it and keeps your stuff dry.

I love what you're doing with your truck, but I'd be worried that your sealant will get gooey if the sun heats up your box.
Have you got a video on the table and table slide for under tk roof rack
Great information 👍. Thanks
Hey George I just got the same rack does yours make a lot of noisy vibrations at 35-45mph?
How is that Front runner mounting to the Tacoma bed rails? Is it holding up good
Hey so pelican just released a line of cases that have mounts specifically for the frontrunner rack for this purpose.
Do you have another medical kit inside the rig. Seems like access to it quickly would be better than putting it on top

Pelican just recently launched the Cargo case line 🤘
Love the box!! Any reason you decided to drill a hole bigger than the bolt size and almost the off the washers you used?
I like the LA County First Aid Kit. 😂
Got one as well.
I like the packaged kits In the First Aid lo….Where is it from?
How's the pelican case holding up after use ? Would you still recommend it ? It looked great on the vid...
can you provide any insight on why you chose this case versus the Pelican Cargo Cases?
I need to know what case that is you use to store your Drone and Camera gear???
When you installed the FrontRunner Slim line II, did you need to leave the weather strips that run along the channels on?
“A machete .. “ hahaha

Can anyone assist here? Couldn't quite understand the weatherstrip used on the cross bars. Thanks
I appreciate your mount process. However, I use mine as a gun case and storage when camping.
Can't put holes in it 😳
Oh yeah, you definitely don’t want any moisture or holes if you’re using it to store weapons lol
What kind of light are you running above the windshield?
Great video! Did you consider the V700?
Curious, why this over cargo series? Cost? Fixed? Size options?
