    Randy.
    Been watching your channel for a while now.
    You should do a current rod and reel arsenal.
    I'm sure others would love to see all your nice tackle too.

    I bought the 1000 REVO MGX Theta(163g)vs the MGX EXtreme 1000s( 152g) and MGX Extreme 2000CS(155g). I Spent $246 vs a $100 more for the extreme

    Now that is a beautiful rod and reel combo.....Sound like you’re liking the feel of that reel.....

    It's sort of an odd joy, having a favorite combo. Whether is the smoothness, the strength, or simply the aesthetics, everyone has that one combo they reach for before all the others. Or maybe its the combo that you see on the wall, and think, well, today would be an awesome day to wet a line. For me, for at least the last year and a half, it's been my least expensive combo - a little 1000 Legalis on an old troutslayer from Leland's. I love it. The balance, the action, I dunno, there's just something about it. I've caught two redears that weighed 2 lbs a piece on it. More chunky bluegill than I can count. And a 3 and a 1/4 pound largemouth. Its my trophy-getter, and it is no exaggeration to say I'd take it over a Stradic on a Legend Elite from St Croix. Anyway, long comment, sorry. But I also want to say thank you for sharing your extensive knowledge. I always learn something here. Be blessed, sir!

      Same..I have that set up...But once i started using jdm reel and rod.. I cant go back to that set up again..Jdm rod and reel has a different feel when the fish bite plus its light. If you do get jdm rod and reel, you will know exactly the "feel"...and you wont go back to old set up...

    I am in the market for a new reel for my ABU Eradicator Real Finesse 6.10L. I am currently running the Presso Limited 1025 on the rod, and it pairs nicely.....just no bling or color coordination. Thank you for this review, very informative on the comparisons.

    Looks like a great reel Randy! I had looked at some newer Abu reels a month or so ago. I couldn’t pull the trigger. I didn’t want to take the chance. Sounds like it may be worth that chance!

    I'm curious about the ABU. Most of your videos you use the presso reel. Any preference besides the presso?

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching. No preference really...but the Presso is a very fine reel....it just happens to be the one I have the Blue Moon FC line spooled on.

    Sorry, how long is the reel handle? I'm interested in buying one, but I'm worried if the length exceeds 40mm. I prefer using ones that are 40mm and 35mm. Been searching for information regarding the length of the handle reel on the net but found nothin.

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  Месяц назад +1

      I no longer own that reel but I know it was 40mm or less as best I remember. I also don’t like the long handles.

    The problem with JDM reels is they tend to have shorter handle then American market reels. Anything bigger then your smallest jig will need lots of cranking power. Also when you compare reels, you have to mention gear ratio: 6:2 :1 will always feel to have more inertia then a 4.8:1.

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  3 года назад

      For me it is not a problem...I prefer the short handles. On some reels I have bought 35mm aftermarket handles. I have mentioned many times in videos about high and low ratio reels....I much prefer low ratio reels. Thanks for watching...

    i watched this yesterday while i was driving. Had a 4 hour drive and couldn't help it : ). I really like the sound of that drag, as you know, and i like that oversized spool. Is this what u gona have on the abu rod permanently?

    I cancelled the Theta. I am thinking about the new Abu Zenon 1000S (140g). Have you heard anything about it? The new Zenon size 3000MSH (163g) is $310. Have you heard anything about either one? Thank you.

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  3 года назад +1

      I have not. But I’m going to offer up an opinion here. I have read everything I can get my hands on about the Zenon…..which is not much. The price of it and the 21 Presso is virtually the same. I would go with the Presso. I’m sure the Zenon is a good reel I just think on paper the Presso has the edge.

    What's the difference between the Revo USA MGX and the one your reviewing, Theta? Great channel!

    • @troutmagnetman
      @troutmagnetman  3 года назад +2

      Thanks much.....the US market MGX 20 and 30 size reel have a 6.2 to 1 ratio. The 1000 and 2000 size JDM reels have a 5.2 ratio to 1 and have a shallow spool. The US market reel has a deep spool. Other than that they are the same.

    I have Revo Alx reel 2500s paid about 170$ . I am not happy with my reel. Every time I cast I have bird nest. But Revo ALX Theata is good looking reel.
