  • This is a Royal Australian Navy recruitment film produced in 1979 . It was created with an aim to recruit the youth of Australia to a 'modern' navy.
The film featured Lieutenant Commander Henry 'Nobby' Hall. Sadly, LCDR Hall passed away on Sunday, 25 June 2017 aged 95.
This cine film has been placed online as part of the Sea Power Centre - Australia’s ongoing archival digitisation program.

04/10/2022 Whilst never joining the RAN I was always interested in their ships, helicopters etc. I went to Nowra airshow a number of time, as well. Nice to see a film of the good old ships, as they were part of Australia's defence for years. My daughter served with the Navy and she has many things to remember; some good and some not so good.

Lots of memories, not that much had changed in 1986 when I joined! Although my first sea posing was to the almost brand new HMAS Darwin.

True. My old man served from about 1960 till 1985. All us kids heard was the amount of red tape he put up with.
I nearly joined the Navy but became a Teacher. Same is true, the bull shit in Teaching is out of control.
