I love the sentiment of this video and it’s something I’ve been thinking about too. I feel like most AAA games are designed to keep us hooked, not engaged or emotional stimulate like true art, but a psychological trick. Even games that aren’t F2P or have monetization are using these psychological tricks. We need to go back play the games reflect great game design and passion. Seek out new games similar. Great video, man. I feel like many will agree with your points. 🔥

I'm late 30s and the last genuine, deep-down excitement I can remember with a game was Skyrim. Every day was new, every area was unique, every moment was fresh, I didn't care about the graphics really. I was in my early-ish 20s at the time, and a colleague of mine sat near me at the office was a gamer too and was playing it. The amount of days we had talking about it like "oh man I found this cave near X and inside were these vampires, and at the end you get this insane sword" or whatever, just sharing constant stories of stuff we stumbled on and found, combos that worked, new armour, whatever. I think back to it and there's a simple reality to it, for two reasons - one, it wasn't built with GAAS in mind, always online, none of that crap. It was "here's the game, go enjoy" and asked nothing else of it. Second, no RUclipsrs ruining everything and no previews crap being shoved down our throats. RUclipsrs for clicks and money ruin EVERYTHING, they always have to post "get this !n54n3 weapon fast!" clickbait crap, and there was basically none of that back in the day. Now it's everywhere. Endings get spoiled day of release, previews are basically a third of the game ruined already, you lose that sense of excitement when a game arrives because nowadys you feel like you've already played it due to so many previews everywhere shoved down our throats by RUclipsrs and alike desperate for clicks for money.

Plenty of AAA games with passion have been coming out. God of War series, baldurs gate 3, helldivers 2, Elden ring, Armored core, cyberpunk, Ghost of tsushima, Persona 3 remake, tears of the kingdom, lies of P, remnant 2, robocop rogue city, ratchet and clank: rift apart, mario wonder etc. and most of them are better than games were years ago. Hell BG3 may be the best RPG ever made... The amount of impact you have on the story and the freedom in combat are unparalleled by anything out today.
Everyone seems to feel that the "golden age" was the era of shovelware movie tie-ins where every other game that came out was "Lord of Ring: Gollum" quality. Or before that, the era of straight up rips, reskins and resales of popular nintendo 64 games. It really just feels like nostalgia or a change of interests rather than a factual argument. I wonder how many people remember Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters for xbox 360? Or Thor:God of Thunder? Or Drake and the 99 dragons on ps2? Or ride to hell retribution on ps3?
I think everyone just forgets about all these and remembers that halo and elderscrolls were good games 🤣

arkham knight wasn't "ahead of it's time"
    it was right on schedule
the industry downgraded and turned to shit
also we are stuck in a paradox
we play older games to play something good
but we already played them to death, there's nothing new, no excitement - turns into braindead glide through media
and new "games" are so shit that nobody wants to play them, they keep using nostalgia and known names to get customers but all they do is remind everyone they could be playing older better games, and those who in spite refuse to acknowledge that gaming industry is in the worst position ever play the same mindless, boring, uninspired shit for countless hours only sending out a message that mediocrity is acceptable - braindead glide through media.
whenever they fail they say something like "going back to the roots"
like call of duty, we expected grittiness of world at war in other campaigns around the world - what we got was one of the worst games ever created and it was so cutscene heavy you would never tell it's a call of duty game.
like need for speed, we wanted more of first two fast and furious magic and what we got was subpar to NFS from 2005.
they keep making new games and they are worse than first installments of the franchise
gaming doesn't feel the same because all the magic that was there was replaced with greed, cheap cashgrabs and woke propaganda

Good summary. Also all the friends I used to play with have moved on away from video games, that's a big part of it for me.

For me personally, I’m getting older with less time to game and my friends have their own lives and can’t play because of scheduling conflict. Additionally I’m constantly exhausted with so much to do.
I haven’t even beat Elden Ring even though it’s one of my favorite games of the last decade because of all this. So now I’m preferring titles with shorter campaigns or multiplayer games that have quick matches I can get it and out of with friends.

I think it also has to deal with age I’m 22 and I decided to boot up Spyro the reignited trilogy when I was a kid I would be transported into multiple fictional world with every level, but now as an adult I can’t help but wonder how they animated something or How They placed a gem during development I think something else that adds from our inability to escape, is that we understand how a game is made, and the philosophy behind it when we play game now

Just a little thing, I actually kind of like the Suicide Squad game in all honesty.
And this is coming from a guy who doesnt really like looter shooter games aside from like, maybe 1 or 2. Suicide squad being one of those.
But for the most part i totally agree with this video.
I remember back in the day i used to play the ever living shit out of skyrim and REALLY enjoyed it.
The story the gameplay, the lore, everything was amazing.
But in recent years, yeah i have not had as much fun with some games.
I like many modern games obviously but a lot of them are boring sometimes like overwatch 2z which is fun but a lot of times VERY boring.

@@ryszakowy in truth I just kind of think it's fun.
Plus the story is not the worst DC story I have heard in recent times in all honesty.
It ain't the best, by far but it ain't the worst.
Also in truth I think the characters are all great. You know Captain Boomerang is a jackass and kind of funny.
I like Harley Quinn due to her being one of my favorite characters in DC in all honesty.
I will admit the excuse for Deadshot being black is very clunky and dumb and I don't really buy it but it doesn't bother me.
I guess in truth I just find it to be a fun game and pretty funny at times. Plus the story to me is passable, it ain't the worst, it ain't the best, it is just passable.
Also it has king shork in it. Also yes I did spell it king Shork ☺️.
Also yes I will admit the ending did suck ass, I wish it had a better ending in all honesty.
