The song was such a great hit it became a CROSSOVER HIT, which mean it hit the popular music charts as well as the Country music charts! Sadly, at the height of her career, Patsy died with others in a plane crash. Angelina's short version here was, in a word SPECTACULAR. She even handled the yodel as if she has been doing it for years! There was a song written for Patsy to sing before the tragic accident and it sat on the shelf for a while until the producers of the song decided who should sing the song. Willie Nelson wrote and performed the song at his gigs for almost 2 years before Patsy Cline recorded it. The song was originally called "Stupid" before Willie re-titled it Crazy. Cline's husband has previously played demos of Willie's songs which she did not like. He insisted that she listen to crazy and again had her reservations because it had several Chords which were different from country music songs that had 3 chords. Also Willie sang it behind the beat in a typical Jazzy style. Patsy Cline was persuaded to record in her own style which she did and the rest is history.
