if only kids today could know the felling of hearing this for the first time as you enter the blood code. There was no game as intense as MK back then it shocked the world and changed gaming forever.
I gotta say, when "MK" first came out it just blew my mind....I kept seeing ads and screenshots of these cool lookin ninjas and a dude with a pointy hat and I'm thinking.....wtf is this cool looking game??? And the logo....everything about the game was so mystical.

Not trying to sound old-timey or elitist, but kids who didn't experience the early 90's explosion in fighting games REALLY missed out. For some quick background, my father ran his own video game store right around the time Mortal Kombat hit arcades. When it hit home consoles he bought this giant cardboard cutout of Goro for the store that I always marveled at as a kid. It was a special time back then until the late 90's when arcades died out and the fighting game market grew stale due to all the horrible copycat games flooding the market. Good times though!

@@TheNotoriousPunk3709 What do you mean "huh"? I meant what I said. The newer MK games have really forgettable OST's and the sound mixing makes them barely audible compared to the voices and SFX, so they might as well not even be there.

Hell yeah buddy. For me, the showstopper was always the Ninja Turtles cab. That thing was a spectacle man, especially as a kid. Massive machine for four players, blinding marquee, and if the arcade owner had the machine volume up, the bass cannon would vibrate through your ribs. When a turtle bit the dust in the demo or from someone playing, you'd hear "SHELL SHOCK!" over everything else around you lol
I am someone who grew up with the 3-D era for the PlayStation two and Xbox, and yet, there is something magical about the music of the first game that makes me come back to it more often than any. It gives me an old western vibe, when the lone gunmen is fighting dozens of men on horseback to reach his rival and save the girl. Considering that this is a dueling game and the soundtrack is electronic, I have no idea why I feel this way, but I love it!
You should play Lethal Enforcers 2 : Gunfighters on the Sega Genesis. You’re a lone gunman in the Wild West and the music is awesome!
Its like that to a degree. Mankinds last stand against Outworld in Mortal Kombat. Usually the lone protaganist having to fight the hordes and raidboss to save the day.

Man I seen this for the first time in Rhode Island when I stumbled into open air arcade right off the beach side. I was only 10 and the machine was cranked up so fkn high it was vibrating the little metal swing-lid on the quarter changer lol. I couldn't even get up to the machine because there were a crowd of popped collar jock guys all over it flipping tf out. They were betting money on matches.
Never got to play until my ol man got me the SNES sweat version, but I was obsessed since then. I miss arcades so much even though I wish I was older at the time

Especially after seeing that Sindel's ending in MKXI, I agree. MK9 is amazing, no wonder its story mode is the best between the new ones according to many. I wish to see things back to the original MK trilogy too.
This is where it all started !! And all you had were 7 characters : Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Raiden, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, Kano and Sonya Blade. Back then the characters were digitized images of actors/martial artists dressed up as them and I thought that was cool in addition to the blood and fatalities (which made Mortal Kombat popular but what also got it in trouble).
The warriors are obsessed with something that make forget their fear of death.

Sonya Blade: Saving her captured unit?
Rayden: Ending Shang Tsung’s reign?
Scorpion: Revenge against Sub-Zero?

Shang Tsung: To unravel the furies and allow Outworld to finally invade the Mother Realm?
I used to know how to draw the dragon by heart/memory, or without looking at it. Now I might have too, it’s been over 25yrs. 😅

I remember this sounding so epic when it first came out. MK1 was so original at the time.

I have a little story of this i never play mk 1 i have only 20 years old but in a local pizza place have old arcades and that and i see mk and i try to play it and is a such a good game but here the story
One day i go to that pizza place to order my pizza(they know my order already because i eat pizza all the fridays) and i see a bunch of kids playing mk1 and a grow up man like of my age or more go to the arcade and make a match with the kids
Only 1 coin and all the 3 kids deafeat and like a little revenge i go to that place and i see the guy only with the eyes he know what i was there so he put a coin for me and start to play after a large time i deafeat that guy and the kids was like "that was so sick old games have magic" and after that i leave with my pizza and now every friday i see that guy and i play with him

They gotta get him back on the MK soundtracks. The music in MKX was very underwhelming. I still can't hum anything...I can't recall any music lol. There's just nothing memorable about the themes in MKX.
Somebody should remake this with real japanese instruments. That would be so dope and awesome!
