I was 10 years old when my dad picked this game up on release day. I’ll never forget seeing his reaction to the dialogue and gameplay, and immediately passing the controller to me to let me have a go. A+ parenting.
Even if it has been twenty years, even if I have played every year for as long as I can remember, even if I have done everything the game had to offer a thousand times or more.... nothing has ever felt boring or repetitive. Every time I load into the game feels like home. Takes me back to being a little kid and watching my older brother play the game on the PS2, before eventually trying it for myself and falling in love with the world, the characters, the humor. It even partially motivated me to learn English to understand the commercials and pedestrian dialogue better. This was legit the first videogame I ever played, and it just means a lot to me. It's way more than a game, it's a box full of memories and good times. Happy 20th birthday old friend. Thank you for all the good times throughout the years, both past and yet to come.
