ATC communication was by far the most intimidating part of getting my PPL. I do so wish I'd had this video!!!! Rest assured that I'll be watching ALL your aviation videos. Excellent stuff! BTW, I LOVED the text writing.

I know I will but I want to be able to adjust as quickly as I can and feel confident adjusting!! YES PLEASE would love to see a radio practice video!!!

I just completed my BFR after not flying for almost 20 years. I’m a little rusty on my radio communications, this video has helped a bunch. I hope to see more! I love your videos, I’ve been going through them as part of my refresh.
Hello Sir, thank you for your very informative and excellent training videos. I'm just starting my ppl training. May I ask what does "... With Yankee (ATIS)" mean? Thank you very much.
Outstanding. I never let my students talk on radio until they started to get comfortable in aircraft. It’s just to overwhelming and intimidating. They need to see you do it repeatedly.
My instructor had me doing Clearance Delivery and Ground *immediately*. He handled the rest for the first couple of flights. That worked wonderfully for me. I feel it should be according to the student's ability. I proved my comfort and skill immediately (I had other radio experience) and I handled nearly all comms after the first couple of flights. My instructor only had to jump in when he wanted us to do something out of the ordinary.
@@Texas1FlyBoy awesome! You are absolutely right. Some students pick it up much faster than others. I like to try to had the students doing some radio calls on the second or third lesson
I enjoyed the different voices. One of those guys desperately needs a throat lozenge. I gotta say, towered airport communication is by far the most intimidating thing I've encountered so far on my way to PPL. I just flew to one with my instructor last week and lets just say I was not prepared. Crosswind landings, solo cross countries, and the written test have nothing on this. I'm regretting not ever having been a waiter, I feel like my hearing/repeating skills are severely lacking. I'll definitely be re-watching this video a few times in the hopes it will sink in but at the end of the day I think I'm still going to have to just blunder my way through some actual practice until I get it.
Thanks! Don’t worry! You’re not the only one. I’ve got a video coming out (probably Saturday) where I take a student into class C Airspace. You may find it valuable
Prior to 9/11, student pilots could still visit Kansas City Center and listen in on the line. It made them more human. I don't know if they've opened that up again. The ATC training simulations were fun to watch as instructors threw in scenarios including spacing for Air Force One.
My biggest issue with radio traffic is juggling multiple radio disciplines. I'm a ham radio operator (informal), LEO (a little more formal), and learning to fly (very formal). Last thing I need is to drop a 10-code in flight or request a tower clearance when responding to a fight lol!
Your private pilot videos are brilliant, I send them to my students all the time on top of what I teach, very easy to understand. One thing I noted that your hood short line missed one more solid line of I’m correct.
