    Very well done; if I may: at 8:21 never say ¨Ready for takeoff¨, but ¨Ready for DEPARTURE¨. ¨Takeoff¨ is only used when cleared by ATC, or by you when you are cleared by ATC.

    By far a video on practicing radio calls is very important. Anytime you have to speak and others are listening to your response it is very intimidating!!! I am a PIT and I hear radio calls when I am out and hope I don't make the same mistake I hear others do. I know I will but I want to be able to adjust as quickly as I can and feel confident adjusting!! YES PLEASE would love to see a radio practice video!!!

    Hi, This is by far the best video training on ATC comms that I have seen so far. I have the link saved so I can watch and rewatch long enough to make it 2nd nature. ATC communications is the most difficult. It is not rocket science, but, you want to do it right and look ( be heard) like a profesional. Thank you so much for the time dedicated to produce it. It helps A LOT!!, specially now for me that I am starting planning and navigation to controlled airports here in Texas. Thank you indeed.

    I enjoyed the different voices. One of those guys desperately needs a throat lozenge.
    I gotta say, towered airport communication is by far the most intimidating thing I've encountered so far on my way to PPL. I just flew to one with my instructor last week and lets just say I was not prepared. Crosswind landings, solo cross countries, and the written test have nothing on this. I'm regretting not ever having been a waiter, I feel like my hearing/repeating skills are severely lacking.
    I'll definitely be re-watching this video a few times in the hopes it will sink in but at the end of the day I think I'm still going to have to just blunder my way through some actual practice until I get it.

    Prior to 9/11, student pilots could still visit Kansas City Center and listen in on the line. It made them more human. I don't know if they've opened that up again. The ATC training simulations were fun to watch as instructors threw in scenarios including spacing for Air Force One.

    This one of the things I fear the most; not being able to remember what the controller or departure/approach/center guy/gal is saying to you and being able to repeat what they just said to you. My memory is horrible, and my note taking abilities, what note taking abilities? Haha. I’ve flown a lot as a kid, actually took the written test, passed, but never took the flight test, or solo’d; and this was quite some time ago. I’ve been really wanting to get into it again, but still fear this!! I’m in the NJ area. Not sure what to do. I wish I could find an instructor, in my area, that can help me overcome these issues/hangups, and at the same time help me feel good about flying again; it has been awhile!! And, by the way, I will be listening to this again and again, cause this is very good!!

I mean it’s one thing when you’re on the ground, practicing memorizing what they’re telling you; another, when your on final approach to land, they tell you something, you’re hyper focused on landing, and have to repeat, breaking your focus, exactly what they tell you!!

    I would love a video on practicing radio calls. Great idea jotting down notes, it gets scrambled in my head very quickly in a busy airport.

    Thank you for this video. The information is great, but for me the hand writing is most distracting and interferes with timing and acquisition of the excellent information. Do not mean to be disrespectful, just offering a more efficient way of presenting. Again, thank you so much.

      Thank you for the feedback. I don’t use the hand quote as much on my new videos. I’ve got a lot of people saying that

    I just got my PPl but to be honest radio comms and busy airports still make me very nervous. Hopefully I get better with practice. I tend to mess up read backs and have to be corrected multiple times

    • @FreePilotTraining
      @FreePilotTraining  9 месяцев назад

      Don’t worry. Everyone does in the beginning. The best thing you can do is to keep practicing and eventually you’ll learn to expect most of the radio calls

    Am glad this type of communication is still the same cause I have noticed alot of changes for example Back Taxi instead of Backtrack or Notice to All Air Missions from Notice to all Airmen. I was wondering can you shorten the read back to 123 Y without saying Cherokee ?? . In Canada We don't have flight following well not yet where I am as I last remember.

    • @FreePilotTraining
      @FreePilotTraining  Год назад +1

      Yes, you can. It’s recommended that you wait until ATC shortens it first. That way they don’t have to ask you for your full call sign later

    I would say comms is the single biggest reason for pilots dropping out of completing their ppl. Personnaly I've gotten used to it but still stressful at times.
