    It looks like a hugger ceiling fan and the ceiling fan blades looks like it needs to be straightened up because it’s not centered quite right if it had 4 blades. And it looks like you need to fix the ceiling fan blades because it looks bent to me.

      @TechGorilla1987  Год назад +2

      You could not be more correct. I noticed the bent blades a year after this video. The fan is still running. Still needs the bearings replaced. The blades are bent because it's in such a place where if I carelessly put on a shirt and raise my arm the wrong way, I get hit and stop the fan with my arm. I am 6' 4" so it's not hard to do.

    always heard fan's sealed bearings are 'not' able to be oiled. [+ heat] not HtURT to try.
    All these years with Fan _'SINGING'_ away. *Thanks,* Nice difference. Cheers! 🇺🇸

    If I open a motor I would just replace the bearings. It’s like the only permanent fix.

      Thank you for stopping by and commenting!! I really appreciate it. I am thinking seriously about revisiting this fans bearings. They are to the point where the fan no longer will run on low...it just gets hot. Someone else pointed out that the blades were bent which is also correct. I suppose some people would be very interested n a bearing replacement video. It wasn't obvious to me how to remove the old bearings, but I can probably handle it. Should I do it?

      @@TechGorilla1987 Yeah. Maybe you would need bearing puller.

    • @TechGorilla1987
      @TechGorilla1987  Год назад

      @@CeilingFanVideosOnYT I can do that probably. If you're wondering, I don't replace the fan as it's 1, a rental property. 2 it's a LOW profile fan and in a short basement. 3, I am 6'4" tall and often will hit the running fan while putting a shirt on (hence the bent blades)
      Bearings are all this thing needs (well, and a blade straightening) and she will be right as rain.
      Your user name trips me out. Seems like a LOT of people are interested in ceiling fans. Upstairs I have the 3 blade, industrial style 54" fans that I absolutely LOVE. Low speed moves a TON of air.

    Is it fine to leave it on a speed that doesn't make the noise or should you oil it because mine only does it on full speed and I don't think my dad wants to take it down to oil the bearings

  • @TheBodrey

    Hi TG. Is this fan manufactured by Canarm? I have a ceiling fan that looks similar in design and it's making noise. I suspect the bearings in it are going but according to a rep I just chatted with they're not replaceable. I wonder if they just told me that so that I'd just go out and buy a new one.

    Awesome video! That is exactly what I do whenever I oil a fan (unless there is enough space to where I don't have to take the motor apart, but can see the bearings).
    Also, nice fan too! :)

  • @CeilingFanVideosOnYT

    I did open a ceiling fan motor few days ago not because of bearing issue, but because I had to reconnect the wires to the motor windings. And since I opened the motor, I went ahead and put new bearings in, just cause the bearings had gotten old and I don't want to have to open the motor again anytime soon.

  • @scottdowney4318
    @scottdowney4318 5 лет назад +3

    It needs new bearings. Worn bearings make noise, if they are lacking grease you can be sure they have worn. Sure you can grease them but they will always make noise. I still hear the bearing at video end.

    Replace the bearings, top, and bottom. Sealed from dust, send the old ones to the Hydraulic Press Channel, let them crush the bearings in a spectacular fashion. New ones go out with a bang, old ones worn and (maybe) fractured, but work hardened? Who knows!? and make new (and slightly crazy) friends!... Ahh but I just noticed this is two years on as I type this.
    How does the fan sound today?

    • @TechGorilla1987
      @TechGorilla1987  6 лет назад +1

      You are absolutely correct on all accounts! The thing that keeps me from doing it properly is that the house is a rental so I don't own the fan. The landlord would pay to replace the fan, but not the bearings and we're not going out of pocket for it. As far as replacement goes - Well, its a very tiny fan and I have yet to find an extremely low profile fan to go in it's place. I am 6'4" and at least once a month, I crack a finger getting dressed in the morning :D The total ceiling height is 87" She's better and it's my most popular video to date. Thank you very much for watching and interacting! And I'll pin this for the future viewers.

      Tech Gorilla awesome. If your looking for a good fan to last a life time I recommend a hunter original. They use a cast iron housing to ensure no damage will occurs as well as a oil bath system to keep the bearing in good shape for a very long time! Here’s a example of a industrial fan I replaced bearings in.

      That's a great question. I am probably going to revisit this fan again because we still live here and the bearings are making more noise. I should have replaced them from the start as others have pointed out. If I replace them, I will update this video. Thanks for watching!
