Gold is a British pay television channel from the UKTV network, that was launched on 1 November 1992 as UK Gold before it was rebranded UKTV Gold in 2004. In 2008, it was split into current flagship channel Gold and miscellaneous channel, W, with classic comedy-based programming, now airing on Gold, non-crime drama and entertainment programming airing on W, and quiz shows and more high-brow comedy airing on Dave. It shows repeats of classic programming from the BBC, ITV, and other broadcasters. Every December, from 2015 until 2018, the channel was temporarily renamed Christmas Gold. This has since been discontinued, although the channel still continues to broadcast Christmas comedy.
Note: Starting in 2012 during the 2008-14 era, the dots have been removed from the logo.

UK Gold was an incredible channel in the early days the Golden Retriever idents surely brought back happy memories Gold covered so much classic British tv from all TV networks mainly.showing comedy from the golden age along with soap opera's gameshows Top Of The Pops children's programmes drama even American action tv and Dallas. Nothing like that today its the same shows repeated over and over and over again boring.
UK Gold it shown Reruns from programmes made by BBC and Thames tv later Central and Yorkshire Tv Programes by 2000 all Central Thames Tv and Yorkshire tv programmes moved to G Plus
I sometimes think ahh I miss uk gold then remember all of its shows a click away somewhere on line and 90% free. It just not the same as getting home and watching everything from dynasty to dick emery at a given time😂

I like the Golden Retriever one.
My favourite idents from UK GOLD would be two of them (the 1992 and 2008 ones). They sure has some gorgeous animation, and the 2008 ident has neat animation and artstyle. My least favourite idents from UK GOLD would be the 2002 idents. They're like older brothers of the BBC One "Oneness" idents from 2017-present, because they're both lazy and does not show some creativity into it.

At least UK GOLD had a better schedule at launch than Granada Plus. Old episodes of Coronation Street and World in Action
I loved the golden retriever dog but after the golden retriever dog left sadly all good programs did as well. Now its a awful channel
Yeah I like that one too, especially with the whistling in the music. I also like the idents from 1994 with the gold bar. I thought that was pretty creative.
Started out as a great channel, now awful.
Better times ... everything is surly, sarcastic, and grim nowadays.

Always remember they ended up with some dodgy transponder on Astra 1B that made the programmes look appalling. The second a shower started, UK GOLD was the first to lose its signal.
