    You not only have to believe in Jesus. You have to ask him to come enter into your heart, and be your Lord and Savior. Alot of people die everyday, who do believe in the existence of Jesus. But they never followed through with the plan of salvation. Therefore they died lost.

      there's no verse that says you ask Jesus into your heart... you have to leave your life and follow Him... You enter into His heart/His Life through the blood of Christ... There is a difference.

    My family and I were a part of a Mennonite church for almost 2 years….. at first it was very inviting, but once I started challenging some of their beliefs and interpretations, we were labeled trouble and shunned ….. we were not even members of the church yet…..
    We are commanded in scripture to TEST EVERY SPIRIT!
    Any time someone lays down extra rules and calls them commandments and they go above and beyond the Bible, you need to run….. we have the rule book, it’s called the Bible. Our family believes in Biblical modesty and being set apart from the world….. but this does NOT look like one specific thing as they teach….Different cultures of people practice this differently, this is why the Church has to be driven by the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit pointing to TRUTH and NOT MEN’S TRADITIONS!!!!!
    The authority they believe the Church has goes above scripture…..yes the Church has the ability to rebuke sin…. But rebuke sin based off of what the BIBLE declares sin to be, NOT MAN!

      @@blessedrthosesermount99 I wish I could give you a real thought provoking, philosophical answer……the only answer I can give is what scripture says…… men should not put on women’s garments….and likewise women should not put on men’s…… does this mean women’s pants are not acceptable for Messiah…. I can’t say that……but when women put on skinny jeans and halter tops, or booty shorts and workout tops for the world to see, does that exemplify fruit of the Spirit? The Bible does clarify that the exposing of the thighs is nakedness.

    Interesting but what saves us not just believing in Jesus as the devil and demons do and they have no hope. It's believing that Jesus died on the cross for our own sins and personally repenting and trusting in Christ alone to save us. Then we do Gods will and the great commission after this but this won't save us. Only trusting in Jesus personally can save anyone. Good works before God don't outweigh sin.

    My family left the old order mish when I was born. I'm one of the youngest of 1. I have never met most of my aunts/uncles and have only seen my grandparents a few times before they passed. I know not all communities are alike but I consider the amish an accult. Yes there are many genuine faith believing amish but the higher ups who run the show are pedophiles, and liars.
    I could go on for hours with stories and examples of how twisted things really are. That was my dads reason for leaving, so that he could freely follow his faith and callings

      Good for your parents to leave a broken system behind. Sad to hear, that those make it to the top with some Amish orders, who probably fit the pharisee mantle all too well. Outward "righteous", but inward full of dirt. Whitened graves, full of death bones. Such will get a harsher judgement, since they do such enormous damage.

      My father left the Amish before I was born, so we are in similar positions, except I’m in exact opposition of what you are saying. Shame on you for generalizing the Amish community to be evil, perhaps you are the evil one.

    Yes there is a community near us they broke away from the amish and call themselves a christian community. They call it simple living and you can feel the spirit in them. They are sweet genuine people who told me they dont condemn anyone and dont believe its sin to have electric and things but they choose to live that way as it takes away from all the distraction and I understand cause Inwoukd love to live that way and hate all this technology and the stressful system we live in.

    Two of my favorite writtings in the Bible are the story of the two men that went into the temple to pray (Luke 18:10-14) and the story of the widow that put two mites into the offering plate when it was all she had to live on (Luke 21:1-4). Both beautiful!

    I think the better way to have answered the question is to compare the tenants of Biblical doctrine that are observed that define a true believer, (i.e. -by faith alone, by grace alone, through CHRIST alone, from scripture alone, to the glory of GOD alone). Just doing personality comparisons doesn't answer the question! What do they believe that lines up with the Bible to demonstrate the "marks" of a true believer? Shunning may be something you disagree with, however, a form of it is a Biblical concept, when we read in
    Matthew 18:15-17 -
    15) "If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16) But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. 17) If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector."
    Apart from some practices, (which may or may not be considered legalistic), they do appear to hold to the core beliefs of true Christian faith, from reading their statement of faith!

    To give some historical context, at the time the Anabaptist were formulating their positions on church discipline, excommunication and shunning was pretty mild compared to the torture and capital punishment typically employed by both Protestants and Catholics.

    Their lifestyle is a choice and from my little knowledge of the community they try as much as possible to stay away from the corruption of this world as the apostle John said “do not love the world and neither the things in them, for love of the world is enmity towards God” so I’ll say big congratulations to them for being sincere and wanting to stay in love with Jesus

      Its a man made Religion or interpretation of Chrisitanity.
      In the 1800s we were all the same.
      They are hypocrites morally and spiritual I know that sounds harsh.
      They will only help out other Amish yet as a Christian we should show Gods love to all.
      We should preach salvation to lost souls yet the Amish hide their light under a bushel. A few mandatory benefit auctions have popped up latley all for show so people think they are good.
      Their Bible is in German and sermons are in a German dialect they dont undertand.
      You get shunned by your community if you leave but are taught about Christs forgivness.
      How can you create your own man made subset race of people with all the inbreeding?
      God has a husband and wife out their for you is it with in a small community. Its like arranged marriages.
      They judge the outside world.
      Sexual abuse, OSHA abuse, thinking good works is the way to heaven,
      Work can be an idol and so can the almighty dollar.

    For me it is about knowing Christ, if you know Him and His Word (God's word) you would also know you can not earn, lose or work for your salvation. Most Amish seem to lack this understanding. They are governed by rules, baptized into a religion with no calling or revealing by the Holy Spirit. So, while they are nice people and have good qualities believers should take note of, over all they are more liken to a cult than anything close to Christian in the sense we know. Being politically correct when discussing this deception does not do them or anyone else any favors. In fact it only helps the devil's cause by allowing elements of truth be used to deceive. I only pray more men of God grow a backbone and speak truth, God is not into democracy or political correctness. He is a King, final authority and righteous judge.

I would never look or hope for anything short of all mankind. There is no political or authoritarian motive behind wanting to see people saved.

    Bible teaches deny yourself and follow me,. Jesus said.
    Question to ask anyone.
    Did Jesus die for your sins?
    Did Jesus set the example?
    Is Jesus alive today?
    Is Jesus coming back?
    Will everyone drop to there knees and confess Jesus is Lord?
    If you say no to any of these questions, you need to repent and seek your God Jesus Christ
    Or you will burn.
    Bible says not one is good.its not by works alone but by faith and grace. Amen
    Now pray that God soften the hearts of these people to seek Jesus.
    All religions are made made,.Jesus is not about religion.

    I was wondering if any of them have any assurance of salvation in Florida they seem a bit more relaxed so I do not know. I know the ones I've tried to meet shunned me when I visited an Amish community and in Indiana and they were all rude to me as a teenager seemed like a cult but maybe it varies like in Florida I do not know but any kids who break away from it during rumphschpringe and leave and not return they shun them and they all say they were shunned through control. Amish life is usually about being controlled to the extreme

    I agree with MSRX. I think a lot of times we get canon belief vs. cultural tradition confused. Something funny I though about.. did Jesus and his Disciples shun water that came from a Roman aqueduct? I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say no otherwise we would have read it in historical documents or scripture.
    One story. I worked in a hospital when I was was young and there was an Amish family that was there. I walked up to them and asked them if there was anything I could do to help them and they drew their children closer to them then ignored me. Painting with a broad brush but I believe they see the outside world as so sinful that they are scared to interact with those outside their belief system.

      I just read "Joy in Submission- The Story of the Annabaptist Faith" which was lent to me from an Amish friend. Yes they are Christians, according to their written beliefs. Whether any "Christian" is actually a Christian and could be proven guilty of being a Christian by Jesus is the bigger question.

    The Bible doesn’t say not to use modern technology?! It may not in so many words. But we should explore the definition of the word ( need).
    And (destroy). Because the Bible does say do not take what you do not need. I can’t remember the verse that says this. But the Bible also says that there will be destruction on them that destroy the earth. Revelation 11:18. We lived for thousands of years without electricity, so it’s safe to say that as far as the word goes. We do not (need) electricity for life. I’m not trying to play the hypocrite I do obviously use electricity. But my statement is in response to the speakers statement that the Bible doesn’t say not to use modern technology. It may not specifically say do not use modern technology. But as I pointed out it does describe how one should live according to need. 1 Timothy 6:8-11. And I think that the use of nuclear and coal power plants can do and have caused destruction on the earth unnecessarily for life to exist. God gave us the ability to advance technologically as part of our cognitive capabilities. But that said. We may not have chosen the right path forward. Just my thoughts. God bless you all.       @Amanda Harris Yet it is God that gave us the minds to create, not Satan. However I do believe Satan uses technology to draw us away from our walk with the lord. He uses entertainment as a replacement for joy. Remember everything (not sin) is lawful, but not everything is beneficial.

    Jesus Christ paid the price for ALL the World's sin, 2 Corinthians 5 19-21kjv. He shed his blood on the Cross for our redemption and for the forgiveness of sins, Ephesians 1 7kjv. All you have to do is believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried and rose again and you will be saved, 1 Corinthians 15 1-4kjv. You will then be sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise, Ephesians 1 13-14kjv. Paul is the Apostle to the Gentiles, Romans 11 13kjv, and we refer to Romans to Philemon for our salvation.     We must obey Jesus, as Christians. Stop working for money, for the food and drink that perishes! Did Jesus work for money? Did Paul? Did Peter? Did John? No, and for those that had done it, like Peter, they left all and followed Jesus. We *need* to do this too.
    Matthew 7:21 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."
    Matthew 6:24 "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
    We have to serve God to do His will. We cannot enter Heaven without doing His will. We cannot serve Him and do His will if we also serve mammon, or money. Quit your job and work for God! He *commands* us to do this! Our eternal destination depends greatly on this one simple thing!

    The amish are living in constant sin. They refuse to carry out The Great Commision, refuse to be missionaries of Christ, and will be judged as such. The believe they are separate, but they only have fellowship with the unrighteous while we Christians who go into the world and brave the world of the sinners in the name of Christ will be accepted into the Kingdom. Do not be fooled for if they truly followed God and were obedient to Christ the Amish and their isolation will be viewed as cowardly and sinful.

    Amish are Christians, I don't like this kind of analysis or nitpicking. Many believe Jesus was the Son of God, died for our sins and raised from the dead. And that is enough, let's not take away anything off the Grace of God for this is for anyone who believes. Of course some may have a more work religion which is not mercy, but you also find that in the evangelical churches. Even though they have an isolated lifestyle that does not always seem 'Biblical', still, Christ's mercy is for everyone. Amish have not partaken in technology which is great, because they are more open to praying, meditating and listening to the Voice of the Holy Spirit who leads us in daily life

      Yep deep tradition substituted as witchcraft. Its called baurache or something like that.
      The sexual abuse, the lust for power and control,the untold mental health issues. Think about the disconnect of being a full time larper and then being pinned down by mindless rules.
      Salvation is not thru good or hard works.
      The inbreeding.
      The fact they dont spread the gospelmof christ and no missionary work makes em hypocrites.
      The shunning. Never built this Nation or fought for it yet reap all her benefits.
      If you look at the Amish in a critical way they are messed up people that get away with alot and need to know Christ. We romantize em that they think they are infallible.
      You dont need to be in a sect/ cult to live simply or plainly heck go live in the Amazon in a hut lol for some real piety.
      Man made religion.
      My biggest gripe with em is that they think they are better than you and I and in fact are not humble. They think they are morally and spirtually superior in every way and its that Us vs the outside world mentality.
      Really messed up folks.

    a christian is one who believes that they know they are sinners and believe in their heart that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again the 3rd day and confesses with their mouth the Lord Jesus. Faith in Jesus Christ alone and what he did makes you a christian. No one can be a christian just because they believe Jesus is the son of God alone nd does good works, that's not the gospel. Salvation = faith + nothing.

Unlike you many Catholics revere these Saints and pray for there intercession to God. Catholics like most Protestants believe in one Deity, one God, represented as the Holy Trinity.       The catholic church did not start Christianity-God did by sending His Son to die for our sins. God ordained the church. The church is a group of believers with a pastor as an earthly shepherd. When Christ died and the Spirit came, the disciples traveled and discipled others while establishing churches.
      Christ is the only intercessor needed according to scripture. To pray to someone who is dead is NOT Christianity.
      You taught me nothing but need to be taught thru God's Spirit. Get a bible and read the new testament for yourself. You are under string delusion. You cannot even see that the act of praying to saints and the "queen if heaven" is unbiblical and heresy

    Hey, you got even the simplest facts wrong! In 2018 there are 330.000 Old Order Amish in North America and they are in 31 of 50 US states, that's not half but more than 60 percent! And then the question: "Are Amish People Christians?" Maybe they are Muslims or Buddhists or what? By the way, saying "Amish people" is somehow outdated. Today people who know a bit about the Amish say "the Amish", not "Amish people"!
