There's a good reason why dueling was so common in the past. Such people in their vanity and vainglory and hysterics would be told to fight or shut up and apologize, and people use to respect it, and if they didn't they'd be ridiculed as a coward. While violence is often not the answer, sometimes you need some mutual combat to remind a person that society is about being polite to avoid a fight.
"Society is about being polite to avoid a fight." I love this quote, it summarizes the social contract of civilization so succinctly. Thank you for this wonderful phrase.
You’re not an asshole whatsoever. You handled the situation far more civilly than me and many others would have! ❤ I like to think I’m an overly nice guy, but I would kill for my mom.
This lack of personal accountability is especially true when it comes to motor vehicles. Every time I call someone out for fucking up in traffic, they get angry at me. Things like bro you’re literally hogging the left lane while not keeping up with rest of traffic, or unannounced lane changes very close to clipping my car, or you have your high beams on at night blinding everyone. So I flash or honk, and they get angry and start driving even more aggressively. Like c’mon, own your shit.
My grandfather once told me "Don't waste your time trying to convince an idiot that they are an idiot." I was paying for petrol IN the station when an old lady drove her car down the side of mine, the wing mirror was hanging off. Ruined all panels. I ran on foot caught her up at he roudabout and she denied it to my face. Even though people saw it. She denied it for 18 MONTHS until my insurance company threatened to sue hers. (as I had a witness who came forward with his number as he was at the pump opposite as it was his car she was trying to avoid. She did that bit right.) If it'd been the other way around it would be in the local papers "youth rams old lady on petrol forecourt and flees the crime scene". You are correct. Nowadays with dash cams it's easier. Film footage doesn't lie. You are correct to fight your Mums corner and I'd go to the nth degree of petty just to prove a point.
NTA, my dude. They made your mom cry, which is just terrible. Plus, with you cracking down on them like this, it could save someone else's mom from being upset in the future and the person that hit your parents' car will hopefully stop driving around like a goddamn crackhead. Also, thank you for the smooches, I love you too.
Seen this happen before. People just swinging in to a car park without any care. Someone in a land cruiser reversed into me once. They were trying to move out of the way of other cars in a car park when they should have just kept driving through. They said to me that I should have a flag on my car because it's too low. Took me months to get money out of them.
Let me tell you a little story here, I was once in a really bad place in my life when things got even worst when I accidentally rear ended a guy on the road (at that time my head was floating and I was not paying attention, I was on my way to work) the dude hasn't even got out of his car and I was already profusely apologizing. A very grumpy looking old guy came out of the car and looked at the damaged I've done (of course all while I was profusely apologizing) he looked at me, then looked at his rear bumper and put his hands on his chin and said "its ok no worries". I realized that there was not much of a damaged on his bumper, only some mild visible scratches. I ask him that I could pay for the damages and he just said its ok and he's just glad that its was nothing too serious. I called at the office sick that day and ask for a 2 day emergency leave and went home.
Honestly, I can relate with the feeling of not wanting to lash out or escalate matters when dealing with a party that is responsible but does not co-operate. It just makes me feel miserable for having to act in a non-friendly manner. But honestly sometimes escalation is the only way if otherwise you are going to be handed the short end of the stick just because the other party wanted to not be reasonable despite being in the wrong. Genuinely, what else could you do? Pay for damages that they caused, didn't even apologize for, and blamed it on you? Based on whatever you mentioned, they deserved whatever mess they end up in. That aside dealing with insurance and authorities might suck for you too, so stay strong.
@@vespii Race has got nothing to do with it. Wasn't even mentioned in the video. It's the fact that nobody wants to take accountability for their mistakes. It's disgusting and damaging to the other person's mental health. And it's a lack of character. Every race goes through similar issues. Honestly, the person that made the mistake sounds more like a 'Karen' than anything. Or at least possesses the mentality of one. But I'm not going to bring race or politics into something that doesn't have anything to pretain to the situation. It wouldn't make sense!!
It's a domino effect regarding apologies. They think that if they admit to a mistake, it will open up the rest of their lives to scrutiny or self doubt. Even when you convince them, they come back later and say that you must have tricked them. It's crazy mental gymnastics.

This is where my idea for social system would be amazing. Take the black mirror episode and the social code. But instead of rating just social interactions we rate our driving 😊
Reminds me of when one time my mom opened our front door and our dog happened to run outside. She had seen a dog being walked across the street and barked at it to say hi. Lady immediately acts like this one and calls the cops on my mom saying our dog viciously attacked hers. Prick made my mom cry too. My parents worked diligently with animal control so thankfully all we had to do was put an "aggressive animal" (or something like that) tag on her collar for two years. Even that was ridiculous. Two years later, literally ONE day before the statute of limitations ended she sued my parents for basically "emotional damages." At no point in this time had that lady given us any vet bills, doctor bills for her "anxiety", or anything that constituted proof. Thankfully they won but I don't understand how you'd sit on this for two years and then go "imma ruin this couple's day."
loved how the biggest accident ive been in was when i was in line at the bank. woman in the other lane decides to back out INTO my car. give a honk, she stops. she resumes, honk again. one last time, and right into my car. gets out and says she didnt see anything on her rearview camera. i tell her youve got THREE mirrors and TWO eyes that will show you what the camera cant, use them!
Sounds like you're in the right about the whole thing to me, Muta. People just simply need to own up to their mistakes, and I _definitely_ know this because I used to be like that and claim it was never my fault.
I agree with that the dashcam is a lifesaver. I will share one experience i had that made me buy one. I was parked next to the appartment house i live in,in the spot where i don't see on my car nor hear too much noise from the parking lot,and someone tried to steal it,but thankfully did not succeed. When i came to my car,it was unlocked, steering wheel locked, immobiliser on,the thieves left maybe 1-2 minutes before i got to my car, because intetior lights and infotainemt screen were still on. When i walked around my car, i noticed something else... they did not steal it, but when fleeing the scene, they left metal deep scratches and dents on the entire side of my car all the way from driver door to rear bumper with their car that was white in color (white car paint spots left around the scratches). I thought i was in a bad dream. I still don't know what made them run, but fixing the damage would cost at least about a 1000€. I wish i had a dashcam at that time so gosh darn much. I bought a small 4k cam that can be used as dashcam as well as normal camera. Quite handy, but kinda too late. I still have no idea who could have done it,because in the town i live in, car theft is pretty rare. P.s. You are not a badguy, you did a right thing. I would do the same.
Doesn't matter what any of us think, what matters is your parents, knowing their child loves them and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect them, just like they did for your as a child. My opinion is, you aren't the bad guy here, the person that hit the car sounds like one them people that throws fits to get out of any kind of responsibility and such people need to be given life lessons at every corner there is, before their ignorance and crappy attitudes gets worse.
I understand how you feel. There is a lingering feeling when you face someone who is just outright too prideful to say sorry. All we can do is hope karma is real, and move on for the sake of our own sanity.
I was literally raised to believe that if in accident happens, it's never your fault; I was told to always believe that. I love my parents, but I ain't raising my kids like that.
Not in any stretch of the word. You are one of the reason I still have faith in humanity left. You unknowingly have helped me a lot during really dark times. Even though you don't know me and never will, I consider you a dear friend. Never change please.
Treat others how you want to be treated. Being intelligent is a double-edged sword. Saying sorry goes a long way. Reality is both a blessing and a curse. Be kind to each other.
i was in a situation before, i was riding a motorbike, there was a car in front of me. it was suddenly braking for some reason and i reacted to late, hit the bumper and made a slight crack the driver stepped out of the car, i turned my bike off and approached him to apologize for hitting, then he ALSO APOLOGIZED for sudden brake he didnt ask for money, i asked if it was okay and he said okay. then we go about our days and that's it. no further escalation all it takes was owning up, sincere apology, and understanding to have a good life but sometimes there's asshole in the world

yup, the only time that's different is if there are no witnesses, then the investigators come out. And even that is only if there's a victim or the story doesn't make sense
I think the "just" thing to do would be to go after them and take it to the end, but what makes you the gigachad is forgiving them and dropping it. And yea it's terrible that they made your mom cry, but I think if you went the forgiveness route she would understand and be very proud.

No one else talked about the kissy he gave us and I thought I was going crazy.
I feel like that last part could've been a pulled scene from the Joker movie lmao.
An armed society is a polite society.
Indeed
@@himedo1512 Well, no, because we're already an armed society.
You’re not an asshole whatsoever. You handled the situation far more civilly than me and many others would have! ❤ I like to think I’m an overly nice guy, but I would kill for my mom.
Muta's super villain arc has finally started.
Muta was a lot calmer about it than I would have been. I love my momma too
@YeaMan you can't even spell page

You're one of the more level headed content creators left on this platform Muta. Never change.
Jesus people suck
Soft
jhayvie_tero I feel you. It's ok to make mistakes as long as you acknowledge them.

Muta's dads dashcam is better than my TV.
Bruh truuue
I mean, according to Linus, dashcam quality ranges anywhere from dogshit to disappointing.

i just love you can tell its a black that they were dealing with lmfao
@@vespii Race has got nothing to do with it. Wasn't even mentioned in the video. It's the fact that nobody wants to take accountability for their mistakes. It's disgusting and damaging to the other person's mental health. And it's a lack of character. Every race goes through similar issues. Honestly, the person that made the mistake sounds more like a 'Karen' than anything. Or at least possesses the mentality of one. But I'm not going to bring race or politics into something that doesn't have anything to pretain to the situation. It wouldn't make sense!!
@@blacksheep7910 how you going to sit here on your soap box saying its not about race, buts its definitely a white person lmfao.
It's a domino effect regarding apologies.
They think that if they admit to a mistake, it will open up the rest of their lives to scrutiny or self doubt.
Even when you convince them, they come back later and say that you must have tricked them.
It's crazy mental gymnastics.
Love how Muta”s lights change with his mood.

You did the right thing Muta, sad your old folks had to go through that annoying experience. Some people shouldn't really be able to get driving licenses.
Gotta say NTA Muta--that dashcam footage is all you needed. I hope your parents are okay king, love you. :-) ♡
"They won" probably still involved a bunch of lawyer fees. BS your parents had to deal with it at all.
I'm the same as Muta. If someone hurts my mom then they're going down. She's the only one who keeps me human.
loved how the biggest accident ive been in was when i was in line at the bank. woman in the other lane decides to back out INTO my car. give a honk, she stops. she resumes, honk again. one last time, and right into my car. gets out and says she didnt see anything on her rearview camera. i tell her youve got THREE mirrors and TWO eyes that will show you what the camera cant, use them!
You're not the bad guy! I'd react the same way! And it's true that accountability is almost nonexistent nowadays!
Sounds like you're in the right about the whole thing to me, Muta. People just simply need to own up to their mistakes, and I _definitely_ know this because I used to be like that and claim it was never my fault.
Saw the title and got anxious you were talking about something else I enjoy
Nah, fam, you're good 😁 glad to hear everyone's alright, but I'm sorry you and your family had to go through that kind of stress and bs. 💛

Imagine Mutahar as a villain

I understand how you feel. There is a lingering feeling when you face someone who is just outright too prideful to say sorry. All we can do is hope karma is real, and move on for the sake of our own sanity.
No, Muta. You are not the bad guy. I would do the same thing as well to teach that fella a lesson.
Never change please.
they obviously weren't a native Canadian if they didn't apologize
Treat others how you want to be treated. Being intelligent is a double-edged sword. Saying sorry goes a long way. Reality is both a blessing and a curse. Be kind to each other.
i was in a situation before,
i was riding a motorbike, there was a car in front of me.
it was suddenly braking for some reason and i reacted to late, hit the bumper and made a slight crack
the driver stepped out of the car, i turned my bike off and approached him to apologize for hitting, then he ALSO APOLOGIZED for sudden brake
he didnt ask for money, i asked if it was okay and he said okay. then we go about our days and that's it. no further escalation
all it takes was owning up, sincere apology, and understanding to have a good life
but sometimes there's asshole in the world
We love you too Muta
Muta being the bad guy would be a confirmation of the weasel time line
honestly your in the right, coming from a state where people hit and run, blow through traffic...and a few months ago dent my bosses car and try to leave...with Her Watching them...only stopping after two others saw it.
If people can get away with it they will:
the one's that blow through/drive through the stop sign 2-3 miles from my place
plow through stop lights at 2-3 am
stop All Traffic To Yell at someone
is why i pick times when i leave for work an hour-30 mins In Advance
At least in America, the cops are only there as a third party to confirm what each party says is true.
yup, the only time that's different is if there are no witnesses, then the investigators come out. And even that is only if there's a victim or the story doesn't make sense

Forgetting to apologize in Canada is a punishable offense
The ending was actually solid gold it caught me off guard lmfao 💀💀
Mutahar is a type of guy who would go "Am I the bad guy?" then follows it up with 10 minutes of educational analysis
admitting that you made an accident will put you 100% in the guilt, meanwhile denying gives you a chance to plan a lie that will let you escape the things you might pay for.
