Great video on an overlooked technique. Last month my partner and I saw a large school of fish between 20-30 feet in 50 feet of water. We tried multiple techniques without success but we put on metallic old-fashioned jigging spoons that we had not used in years. In less than 60 minutes we caught more than 30 bass with a mix of white bass and spotted bass. As you said, this technique is situational but there are times when they shine.

I used spoon for landlocked striped bass ! Best lure to catch stripers actively chasing baits

I’ve found the old Johnson gold spoon to be extremely good for snook, redfish and specks. It’s especially effective in the wind because you can better control your casts. I would think they should work for bass also.

I’ve had quite a few smallmouth hit spoons while salmon fishing the Great Lakes

I use the rapala x-rap scoop now during the fall. Fishing it through those big baitballs. Then letting it drop dead now and then down to those big pikes circling underneath😊

The flutter spoon is still a thing in my arsenal. However they are very situational & the spoon. Out of the package the flutter spoon ltneeds to be heavily modified with split rings & barrel swivels. OR you are gonna lose 80 percent or more of the fish you hook. Trust me….

Must have 40 or 50 of those things, all of are rusty! They were very effective back in the day.
