I've decided with my other 395 different techniques & 22,593 lures in my room, I'm not buying anymore 😂 already have to sleep outside with my room full of boxes of lures
Great video, never heard of strolling. Gonna try that today! I love your presentation, even when you are "distracted" you are still filling air space with nuggets of fishing wisdom. Thanks! You guys are kicking some real Bass!
I just want to say, I fished all my life and it was always just FAFO style. A few years ago I started watching your videos and learned techniques that I probably never would have explored. Nowadays I'm the guy (on the bank) plucking fish out between all the other guys and they ask me what I'm doing. Good stuff, invaluable content as always!
This technique works! You don’t need electronics. You don’t even need a boat. I tried this technique from the bank at a local pond when nothing else was working and I started getting bit! I was catching largemouth and crappie. Like slab crappies! I didn’t even know there was crappie in that particular pond. So the technique definitely works with or without electronics.
@dgroves85 cool, I am going to give those a shot at one of my crappie holes. I normally use small bucktails and squirrel tail jigs, want to try something different.
Love the fishing the technique while your explaining it! I know not all techniques are great for the format, but any that are would be awesome to see. Still the most useful fishing stuff in the RUclips sphere!
Fantastic video. I’ve been using this technique for a while now and I still learned a lot from watching this. Ironically I just purchased some sinking braid earlier in the day before I watched this video. I too have always used the San Diego jam knot but recently went to a loop knot for shaking minners. The tip about not fully snugging down the San Diego jam and using it as a loop knot is genius. I’ll be using that. Great job fellas
I’ve been trying to hone this technique. Started late to the game. Don’t have FFS but feel confident it will happen. I still want to get yallls micro A-rig. Probably for Christmas. Thanks guys.
Dude thank you so much for this video, I hadn't caught anything in weeks and I caught fish on both my first casts today and yesterday on the zman graph shad.
I learnt from the founders of Raid Japan, when they launched their strolling bait the Fish Roller, that using a snap also works just as well as a loop knot. Awesome when you want to switch between jig heads and lures.
We’ve been fishing a wobble head & Fluke combo for over a decade before FFS was even thought of. Strolling is a slight variation of doing exactly the same thing.
Budget tip for my fellow broke people: For line, fill 1/3 of your spool with mono as a filler then top it off with flouro or braid, you can fill more spools with one spool of line. For braid, you can't go wrong with Power Pro or suffix 832. Or, Use good copolymer like izorline xxx, suffix advance or Trilene sensation. Copolymer aren't perfect for anything, but good for just about everything except those instances where you NEED braid.
Bro... I just realized you are the Bob Ross of bass fishing! Snaps fish off: dangggg it !! Looks over board: ohh well guys , to many fish without re-tying 😅😂
Raid Super Fish Roller in a color that matches your bait fish- Shad Bluish Purple for You- up here in the NEast the Yellow tinted ones works well- Probably looks like a golden Shiner to them- Matches up with a Bay Ruf BR Head - 1/4 oz for up to 5-6 feet- to get it deeper use a 14 gram- Half- Ounce Head- If you can get away with it - Move down to 12 gram 7/16 th for better action
I love using pintails, but I've been super successful on a slightly different lure, I've been using the Fish Arrow Flash J-Split 4 inch! It has the same action as a pintail practically but just a little split in the tail and it has a little piece of foil inside the plastic that gives it flash and a little noise too! The j-split has been game changing when I use it for mid/bottom/hover strolling!
@@HawgWyldFishing I tested them side by side, totally different action! The fish don't like the super fluke fished mid-stroll the same way. The flash j-split has a different plastic and some hollowness too, seems to make a huge difference in the number of bites
I'm stunned 😮. Here in the Netherlands we've been fishing vertical with soft jerkbaits for pff, maybe 20 years. Mainly for zander. Now I see this and surprised how long it took to arrive in the USA 😆
Now given that you are adding a twitching or vibration to the straight retrieve can you just use you pointer finger to interrupt the line on a spinning setup as you wind it in to create that pulsing? Basically point the finger down and let the line brush against it as it winds around the spool.
so this is basically like crappie fishing, but upscaled? when its tough, my go to in the winter is a 2" bobby garland minnow on a 1/64 or 1/32 jighead, i fish it the same way around current seams and the outsides or over top of cover. works really well when its dead cold for moody bass.
i bought some 3/8 premade graphshads and literally caught fish the fist day! lost the jig head after catching 2. i knew i was in a tree. this past weekend swapped to a jigging wrap and its nuts. bass hate it so much. youll pick up a whole school with that little bait.
Matt. Don’t Iff you’ve ever heard of. Trika rods made in I believe Wisconsin. Their claim is they cast light bait 20-30%. Farther than most rods. I’ve been using one for walleye bass. And!!!! It is definitely true. Light sensitive. Paired with a Diawa tatula reel diawa 10lbs diawa braid. Med light. Consider it. You mite find I’m right on this one.
We own a few 👍🏼 That castability comes from having a "regular" action that loads deeper into the blank. Many JDM rods or JDM inspired rods take advantage of that action as well.
My girl is getting into fishing and reviews are just around the corner. Curious if it would be worth the ladys doing a lady specific clothes and gear review(if thats a thing). I am not sure if everything thing recommended should just be purchased in the "ladys version". I would assume they have their favorite fits and maybe recommendations on purchasing and things to avoid. Or just practical recommendations for men buying for women.
This would be great!! I can give a few things my wife liked. She got into fishing late last year. She loves her Krazy Profishiency rod combo. I tried it and it's great!! Wife has some wrist pain but that rod is light and comfy enough that it doesn't bug her. Also get her Northside boots from Sportsmans. They're on clearance and my wife has enjoyed fishing much more with em!! Just a couple of things that made a big difference to her 👍
What can I use to catch bass that are eating almost 10" crappies I've thrown everything but a crappie cause it's a game fish and we can't use them as bait I've noticed cause they chase my crappie as I reel them in and if it's undersized when I throw them back in their on them those bass are 8lb to 11lb at least
I can attest to strollin without tech. Ive been strollin in the river i fish, cast it upstream and stroll down and been crackin em! Blue gizzard guppy head on albino shad crush city!
I haven't. In my mind, it's the reverse of a proper jerkbait rod... you need a really stiff tip to hit the bait and a soft mid to absorb during the fight.
@@tacticalbassin Thanks for that info. I've not used a solid tip rod but I assumed that the solid tip would be stiffer and be able to work a JB better. Obviously my assumption is incorrect. Thanks again.
I am getting striper hits on a 3.5” Spunk Shad on that 1/8 Guppy head 1/0 hook - and they hammer it - but I am afraid that 1/0 hook probably won’t hold on bigger stripers - hoping to find out though👊🎣👍
Great video ! This technique Deff taking over and works phenomenal! But just brain storming here what about strolling a tube jig? It has the glide but if they made the body a lil more fish shaped instead of round , I could see that getting the rock and glide on pretty much same “Hoover retrieve” just throwing it out there anyone have any ideas?
NOOB question - when you’re attaching a leader to a braided main line, how long should the leader line portion be? For this instance, on a 150 size reel. Thanks!
For spinning gear it can be as long as you want and generally the clearer the water the longer the leader so the braid is away from the bait. On a bait caster, leader should be short enough not to get wound into the spool.
Question. Not relevant to this video but its swimbait related. Have you guys ever used the okuma komodo reel?? If so whats hour opinion i just got one and it seems good. Wondering if hou guys have sny long term experience with them. Love the content. Appreciate you guys
Yes, most boat/tube/kayak anglers are willing to tell you what they see on their graphs. Just be polite, give them a greeting and make a little small talk. If you KNOW your pond or water body, then you kind of already know where they are going school or suspend.
The biggest problem I have is knowing whether or not I'm working the bait properly. There are a lot of times, as I get it closer to the boat, it's not rocking side to side, but front to back instead. I've tried rod tip up and to the side. It seems to rock front to back significantly more often with the tip up. I have caught a good number of fish since I started using it so I don't know how much it matters which way it's rocking. Is the anything you are supposed to feel to know you are doing it correctly?
Would love to see video of how jigs work underwater. Even if it's in a long fish tank on surface how your rod action above water affects the jig under water. Don't go to bass pro for that video he he just some video footage of what jig does.
No matter how hard the fishing is that day, every time i dangle a bait in the water with the rod unattended...slam and rod may or may not go in the water😅
Just here to say any fishing technique is either going to work or it’s not 😂 with or without FFS. I don’t understand where everyone gets crippled up on oh it’s for only for using FFS, like new jerk minnows that literally sink and return upwards instead of down. FFS makes any fishing technique easier though, by literally just letting you know if there’s the type of fish you are fishing for In the area or not. I'm here just to say, you absolutely do not need FFS for this technique. I've caught a ton of fish with it.
I catch most of my fish without ffs with this technic
I love it!! Thanks for chiming in!!
My brain can’t process it. When I see a bait labeled for ffs I click away 😂
We heard him tell us that
I have also had pretty good luck with just seeing them on down imaging or fishing around shad schools

Yamamoto shad shape worm and baby z too are also great strolling baits.
Thanks!
We’ve been fishing a wobble head & Fluke combo for over a decade before FFS was even thought of. Strolling is a slight variation of doing exactly the same thing.
I use a uni knot and tighten it against my thumb nail to leave a little loop. Works great and definitely slips to fully tight on fish
That's almost exactly what we do with the San Diego Jam 👍
I’m really liking that Gamakatsu Horizon Head
Caught a fish on the Freeloader burning the bait. Your idea. Thanks.

Ok, changed my mind...buying a few packs...still have some room by the furnace downstairs for a couple lure boxes
😂😂😂 Don't get too close to that furnace or you'll find yourself starting over!

XZone Swammer on a ball head rocks close to 180 degrees on a straight retrieve. It's been deadly for me this year.
So awesome

With extremely light baits, yes. But with all of these 1/4 - 3/8 oz heads and larger plastics, no. It's not enough interruption to create the action.
Zoom tiny fluke works best for me
The tiny and baby flukes are great!
Before it gets to cold can we get a jet boat video
I hope so! Our rivers have been torn up by storms but if opportunity allows, we'll do it.

Do you ever use a casting rod with this technique? Like when you're fishing deeper using bigger baits with heavier heads.
The TB wisdom is no, because it's easier to twitch a spinning rod from the elbow than a bait caster using your wrist.
