I was looking for how real heat seekers work. Found this video and started watching it. I literally realized at 3.10 that this is a game with a guy teaching me how to launch the missile from the computer keyboard.
hey Gaijin, instead of adding stuff to the game, perhaps focus on fixing the stuff that are already in the game? most of the maps are not balanced, certain BRs are unplayable as certain countries and the gamemodes are repetitive. hope you guys see this and actually hear what the community wants
Can the missile lock onto an Abrams? It has turbine engine as well, but with less exposed exhaust flame. Can I redirect incoming missile using a nearby bomb explosion? Can I redirect by firing my own rockets? Thumbs up for proper modeling of weakening heat signature of shut down jet engine.
@@kacper8562 AIM-9L and R-60s are more modern and can tell what is a target and what isn't. A bomb or a short burst of heat from a rocket isn't going to redirect its attention from a jet engine.
No, even the earliest missiles would not be fooled by a tiny rocket motor over a jet engine or a burst of heat happening after the missile hit you, Your bomb would hit the ground after you died and even if that wasn't the case the missile would not be fooled.
@@Royalwaffles you misunderstood my comment. I was saying that the better seaker head might have a better chance than the early missiles to lock onto a heat signature of an Abrams turbine engine. I never meant the bombs and rockets as decoys part of the comment. I must admit, i wasnt very specific, so it was kind of my fault. Plus, from my DCS expierience, i can tell you that it it extremely unlikely to do any of the things listed here, but i know war thunder uses diffrent guidence modelling than DCS, so it might be possible to lock onto an abrams in war thunder
What happens when i use missiles: I lock onto the target, the target is flying straight and level, i fire, the missile completely misses the target. I repeat this procedure until all missiles are gone. I then get shot from behind by an enemy missile that was fired without any warnings whatsoever...

French tier 6 planes for the next update will be a good idea; don't forget France are the pioneers of military aviation, also they are the ones who creates the successful planes of the 6 days war, the first to reach mach 1 and mach 2 in Europe, the first to travel Atlantic in plane (read the entire story of the "Oiseau blanc" and the assassination of the two pilots Nugesser and Coli) Finaly, they are probably the last nation in game who won't receive a full tree of copy paste American and Russian planes, at tier 5 and 6 (Rip Germany, Japan, Italy...)
Real quick here I just wanted to ask this: So i exceeded Mach 1 in a Me 163 Komet in game and it's been rumored (only rumor) that it broke the sound barrier in WW2 by a test pilot named Heini Dittmar on July 6th 1944. However I did not get the expansion fan effect on the aircraft (but i did get the sound reduction past the wing thing) So....when will the 163 get the expansion fans on it if you go supersonic?
The 2 buttons on the side of a mouse is the best but it is a problem when your friends have a Tier 1 to 3 aircraft’s and there should be Air to Air refuelling drogue and probe system and a probe system.
Fix aircraft carrier spawns as well. I’m tired of crashing into the tower and losing the whole game because of a bad spawn. The only way to prevent crashing in a bad spawn is to fire weapons and rearm to get a better spawn position.
You NEED to buff these missiles. Recently they barely work at all. They constantly get confused and pull of in directions were neither a enemy or the sun is shining. Sometimes they just pass enemies who do not even pull the required g-load. I saw them basically dodging the enemy plane they were going for. This is not how air to air missiles are supposed to work. Even if these missiles 'hit' I have seen situations where they explode and wouldn't even cause any damage.
Great info but a lot of the info has been superseded. Players no longer get the "Rocket has been launched" warning, instead the missile gets its own icon while in flight. When and for how long is still tied to the crew skill rating, but actually turning your head to check six for incoming missiles is now up to the pilot. Missiles now also come in dozens of flavours, with variations including MCLOS/beam riding/IR/radar/laser guided, caged/uncaged, active and passive and so on. A lot of the newer ones now also include ECCM so they are a lot more resistant to counter measures and environmental effects. Check out the channel Tims Variety for an up to date (and continuously updated) video on all sorts of air to air missiles and how to deal with them.

Is there a page somewhere talking about the jets already in game getting their heat seeker missiles? Or if this is even a thing or if heat seekers are just a test thing that no other jets will get?
Here is another tip for any missile-toting pilots out there: Try launching the missile at your target when you have an altitude advantage. That way, when your missile runs out of fuel and has to rely on inertia alone, it will have more energy to hopefully intercept your target
Please fix bombs. In air Rb i have multiple times dropped bombs near perfectly to light pillboxes and it’s just a hit, or worse nothing. I love the game! But i hate the bomb mechanics (luckily most tank rb maps are very flat and yes I’ve tried different sizes, from 100lb to 2000lb).
why do you only have a brief window, you should just be able to turn the master arm on en immediatly start locking when they are warmed up, that doesnt have a time limit in real life, so it stupid and really really enoying in-game
How would you implement aircraft in the game that only had missiles for their armament, like early models of the F4 Phantom II? Is that even possible at the moment?
The ww2 tech trees would be shermans mostly yes but from the 1960s we produced our own tech like the rooikat and eland which are wheeled fighting vehicles much like italy's centuro which resently got added.We also have our own produced mbt the olifant mk2

I think the heat signature is to small for the early AIM-9B's and R-3S's. It might be worth giving a shot with an AIM-9L or an R-60

They could but the exhaust of a jet engine is fairly easy to distinguish against that. They are more likely to simply lose lock easier.

Problem, grind is to long for us players who only have time to play maybe 1-2 hours pr week :’(

Yeah, if your missiles fail (You have alot so it might actually be pretty rare in wt) You can always ram.
