In this video I have my first day snowboarding in Mt Rose, Nevada. I'm here on a powder day and it will be interesting to see if my snowboard can survive these early season conditions.
Thank you for giving Mt. Rose some love! My home mountain that I don’t see featured by the big channels. Powder days on the chutes are some of the best riding I’ve had living in Tahoe
We hit Discovery Resort on saturday and it was empty slopes, great conditions early Montana :D

I was at Kirkwood right before the current storms hit and I got a few scratches on my brand new board too. Got lucky since it was just twigs and not rocks but still sucks.

What would you recoomed me to pair with a yes dicey 2020-2021 model.... strata or ultra ? I am begiiner-intermediate - just say that at my level I am lookeng for some "do it all binding"
Where to go first in Tahoe? From Cali, always go north.
If it’s your first time in Tahoe I would check out Palisades, Sugarbowl or Mt Rose

No plans at the moment. There are so
many great mountains around Tahoe to still explore. Next season I’d like to spend a month in India snowboarding!
How you liking your excavator? I got the brain dead one for this season and have only had it out on groomers so far but the carving experience is amazing
The Excavator is amazing! Lots of stability at high speeds, floats super well and lots of energy in the tail for Ollie’s! Fun to carve too!
@@WAco-se9wf I upgraded from a twin pig and I find the edge hold much much better on the excavator. Between the extra camber and stiffness I feel much in control of my board compared to my twinpig

Do you feel like the k2 excavator base is easily gouged by rocks. My k2 base on my k2 brodcast seems to get torn up easier than some of my other boards. For instance I have a sims nub that I can run into stumps, rocks, anything and seems to barely scratch. But my k2 always leaves the boarding session with very deep gouges that need ptex fixes. I bought a 2024 k2 excavator today to use this season as my daily driver. Just curious what your thoughts are on base durability.
The waxed infused sintered base is “suppose to be” very durable.

I've never done it, but I know people that rent for the whole season - probably cheaper
My first set of gear was all 2nd hand. Helmet, boots, bindings and board for like $200

Buy your own boots but everything else try to ask friends for or people in your community. Do you live near a mountain? Mountain towns will always have extra snowboards and swaps going on you just gotta ask a few people in the community
