    Very nice! Any hints on how to export the config and reimport on a new installation?

      I’m not sure I understand your context. You should have one vcenter in your environment that controls multiple hosts. You can move the vcenter some one host to another or simply create a new one and connect the existing hosts. I’m assuming you’re not running a datacenter with tons of hosts.

    Hello, in step 1 it shows the following error. "Failed to send file [vmeare%20vCenter%20server-0.vmdk] to the host [192.168.80.135], please check the network connection. installer log files are located at c:\users\user\appdata\local\temp\vcsauilnstaller. Can you help me.

      I would guess your USB device has a corrupt copy of the ISO. Try recreating the ISO on a different device or trying a different ISO file. I've had that happen with a 6.x ISO file once.

  • @johnnymclemore8255
    @johnnymclemore8255 6 месяцев назад +1

    Do you download the ISO file to a VM that you then install vCenter 8 onto? Or does it get installed onto a physical host within the network?

    • @BobPellerin
      @BobPellerin  6 месяцев назад

      As per the video, open the ISO on your PC and run the installer. It will connected to the ESXi host and install the VM automatically. You don’t load this ISO into ESXi directly to run it.

    Hi Bob. I am preparing a brand new infra with 6 Srvs Hybrid vSAN, in the case of the absence of a Domain controller, hence a DNS server, which I am going to configure afterwards on this very new infra.. My dilemma is that, Could I install vcenter server on one of the nodes of the vsan cluster, and do I have to do the same trick for the dns server even in the case of production environment?

    • @BobPellerin
      @BobPellerin  3 месяца назад

      If you have no (0) internal DNS servers you will most likely get the errors I highlighted. You could set up a temp linux one quickly or whatnot. Anything to get the VCSA to resolve during the pre-check process really.

    guys it took so long for me to install vcsa8 on esxi 8.0u3 approx. 1.5 hr

    • @BobPellerin
      @BobPellerin  3 месяца назад

      Do I dare ask why? Did you get stuck or the hardware was just very slow? The faster the overall hardware the faster it goes. Also using a fast(er) USB device will help.

      @@BobPellerin I am installing vcsa8 on my desktop for lab environment. It might be due to desktop hardware performance issue.Also, how can I fix if I can't ping newly created vcsa8 ip address from another vm installed on vmware workstation 17.6 if both are in the same network.

      @@BobPellerin I came across another issue. I can access to vcsa8 web client but lost access to esxi8 host vcsa8 running on after moving it from vm network to vDS default group named"vCSA-network" I tried revert the physical vmnic back to vss from vds and still can't ping vcsa8 ip address on other vm or esxi host on same "vm network". I end up recreate vcsa8 on different host. Do you know what potential issue to this change ? On vDS, I created two port group : default port group "vCSA-network" with static binding and another port group "vCSA-Management" with ephemeral port group on the same vDS.Thanks.

    Have you encountered the “an error occured while starting service “vc-ws1a-broker” in stage 2? I have VCSA 8.02 so the update should have worked in my lab but have no progress

    • @BobPellerin

      According to VMware:
      The issue is resolved in the release vCenter Server 8.0 Update 2a Build 22617221

    A question on the host that is running the VCSA instance. If you have like vMotion active to migrate hosts from a failed hosts (i.e. ESXI) to another ESXI in a cluster, what manages that? If its vCenter what happens if the host that contains the VCSA instance? does it just fail and not migrate anything over?

    • @BobPellerin
      @BobPellerin  9 месяцев назад

      The VCSA must be active to monitor the heartbeat of the hosts.

    Hello, I have installed and configured vcsa successfully. But so far I am not able to access VCSA using the browser. I have tried on the domain-joined machine, and I have updated the "hosts" file in the system as well. Still, I am not able to access it. Please if you can guide me on this issue.

      Unfortunately diagnosing issues over RUclips chat isn't going to work. I would recommend you find a local consulate with the skillset to take a look. I would start with going to see what you have on the screen of the VCSA. There should be a link there to follow. Perhaps you have the wrong IP set or are using the wrong port. Also try using Firefox or Chrome. I had situations where one would work better. I haven't figured out why one works at one place and not at another. Definately saw that in the field though.
