    Reading the comments you'd almost believe it was only Michael who made the show.
    And yes, he was the showmaster of the sitcom. But don't forget the chemistry of the whole family Keaton, that despite all their differences added the real loving familyfeeling in the series. I always felt it was the unique combination of humour and hart that made this serie so special.

    • @libertyordeaf
      @libertyordeaf Год назад +2

      That's very true. Still, most sitcoms of that era had a cornerstone character that drove a lot of storylines and laughs, and drew the largest audience share. Fonz on 'Happy Days', JJ on 'Good Times', Arnold on 'Diff'rent Strokes'. I suspect 'Family Ties' would have worked without MJF but perhaps not as well.

    One of my teachers from high school told me she actually met Michael J. Fox back when he did Spin City. I believe one of her friends worked on the show and got her tickets for an episode; but my teacher told me during breaks Mike would go over to the audience and ask them what is their names, where are they from, etc.. And She said it wasn't a routine he had when he asked how is your family? He actually cared he even stayed around if anyone wanted a picture and a autograph. She said he is the most caring down to earth person you could ever meet; he's an average Joe. I'm glad to know that their are some celebs in this world who are very kind and caring people. All I can say is I hope they find the cure for Parkinson's Disease. Also how can you not like Michael J. Fox. As a kid I loved him as Stuart Little, thought he was great in Back To The Future, I also really enjoyed him in Teen Wolf I wish they made a sequel with him because I want to know what happens with Scott Howard and the whole gang of Beacontown.

      The show was supposed to be about (focus on) the parents, Steven and Elyse Keaton. My MJF was so damn good, so likable and the audience was drawn to him. The show's "game plan" changed. Although this was not what established stars Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter had originally signed on for, it became obvious to everyone that this was the direction the show was going and they were good soldiers about it.

    Michael Fox is a few (7 lol) years older than I; I was a kid watching tv and I would say out loud, ‘that is SO fake!’... when Tracy Pollan joined the show, I fell in love with her lol but, even though they weren’t in a relationship irl yet, after several episodes, I declared to my parents ‘those two are going to get married someday!’ They had such a chemistry on-screen that I fell in love again - with the couple I hoped/knew they would be. Knowing they have been beside each other for 40 years warms my heart ❤️ There are two Hollywood couples I would love to have a cup of coffee or tea with ... Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson ... and Michael Fox and Tracy Pollan. Much love to you all! ❤️❤️❤️

At one point, he went to the prop room on the TV show, and freaked out because he couldn't find Marty McFly's video camera. He simply pushed himself too much.

    I've worked in LA for 20 years, and watching Michael's work is always incredible, because he has such keen instincts with comedy! I've been through so many improv classes and on so many sets, and I've seen first-hand that isn't a skill you can just teach anyone, and even people who are really funny, or have a good sense of humor, can't always find the joke in a line or scene. But if you just look at the black and white lines of Alex P. Keaton or Marty McFly, there's really nothing there: Michael J. Fox FOUND the humor there, and made it work! The line delivery, the vocal performance, the physicality... he could make lines funny! That's a RARE talent, and to find that in someone so young is ridiculous! Seriously... an incredible actor and performer!

    I don't have many good memories of times with my parents, but one thing my mother and I would consistenly enjoy together was 'Family Ties'. I was in my late teens and early twenties during the course of the show. I happened to be living at home for a few of those years and we would truly enjoy watching this show together. It had a lot of humor, heart, and warmth. A truly iconic show and one that I will forever have great affection towards.
    My top three favorite episodes are: 'Birthday Boy', the show where Steven and Elyse want to make the time before Andy's birth special for their kids but find them distracted, and the hiring of the housekeeper (Gina Davis) when Elyse was on bedrest. Great show, great memories.

    A funny thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I've been hard at work writing an extensive testimony of my life. I'm probably not going to mention this in the final draft, but as a teen, I looked up to Michael as both a hero and a mentor. If I were to start acting, I think my type of humor would be completely different than what Michael did for Family Ties. I had gone to this appointment where there was time to write in my journal book, and before I knew it, I got thinking about my image problem. Like a lot of other guys who are in their 30s and still single, I look at myself and I see someone who constantly gets walked over, and or I just don't speak up. I had heard that guys who are introverted, like me are actually revered as extremely attractive, but it's also the way one handles themselves around others. I've always been more of the quiet one, or shy person in the room unless I was with family. Anyways, long story short, as I got back to my apartment, I got thinking about MJF. I look nothing like him, but some of my movements mimic him ever so slightly, and at the same time, I've had one or two people tell me I kinda look like him. I took myself into the bathroom and did several poses and took a good hard look at myself. That evening, I gained something, and I've got Michael to thank. The other major part of the problem is, I don't get many comments from the ladies about my looks.

    I think its funny that his character of Alex Keaton was very Conservative, but in real life he was very liberal. Now with his Parkinson's Disease, he is even more liberal and left wing. His character in that show about the New York Mayor- Mike Flaherty- actually at the end made fun of the Alex Keaton Character, I don't know how many people really liked the character because he was a Republican Conservative?

    • @Moviefan2k4
      @Moviefan2k4 6 лет назад +5

      Alex was basically the Leftist's view of a conservative, a.k.a. an extremely exaggerated one. He was obsessed with money and personal success, often to the exclusion of his own family...and it usually took his Leftist parents to "bring him back down to earth". As for the parents themselves, they seemed split on their treatment of him. The father Steven was more understanding and willing to change, while Elyse was Leftist and very stubborn about it.
