there's absolutely nothing random about this. eventually, Clive will have researched the carbonation/decarbonation characteristics of every alchoholic beverage, it will probably result in a nobel prize or something (or whatever the scottish version of the nobel prize is)
I prefer flat fizzy drinks. I just pour and stir with a fork til it stops fizzing! Perfect because every restaurant also has forks so it works at home or out.

@@AnglephileSwedenGerman nah mate, I'm 26 and he's not wrong. Strong bow is the coolers of cider. Tasty and sweet, but it's cider with no personality or nuance for basic bitches.

That hat always reminds me of some light shades I had back in the mid-80s. - I believe there was a full suite of items available including curtains, pillowcases and quilt covers.
Fosters did a standard lager in cans around 2006 with a widget inside. It was dropped pretty soon after. I gave to say though it was like silk to drink. It made me realise why draught tastes so good. The good pubs control the co2 levels. It’s this perfect carbonation that gives the mouthfeel and makes it ‘easy’ to drink. How many times has someone said a certain pub dies a ‘good’ pint despite ordering the same cask as a pub that does a ‘poor’ pint
Cider is only £1.49 a bottle in Home Bargains, as opposed to £2.20+ in other places. Also, just shake the bottle and get the same effect without buying an expensive Guinness surger (although, to be fair, they have been on sale in Tesco recently). The Cherry Bakewell cider is rather nice!!
I’m American and took a trip to London a couple years ago. While there I wanted to tour some pubs, in the course of that, after visiting one or two and having several pints purchased by my friends. I went up to order my own looked at the menu, recognized little and saw strongbow. Thought sure, sounds lovely ordered that and we very disappointed to find it was hard cider, not beer. Won’t make that mistake again!
If it's fizzy then it's not cider. My local was the last Bulmers tied-house in the country - serving Sweet, Medium and Dry. Oh, OK, they also did Hand Grenades - a cocktail of Bulmers No.7 (think Pilsner) and sweet Special Cellar - one pint of that'd see any Strongbow off!
While there's little point in trying to surge CARBONATED drinks (other than for RUclips amusement), it does work rather well with other NIGROGENATED drinks. I'm particularly fond of using it with Brewdog's "Black Heart" (nitro stout). The trick is to gently release some of the gas by piercing the can lid with a pin first. Don't let the widget "activate" (I'm not sure of the technicalities here but if you release the gas slowly enough you don't get it foaming until you use the nitro-surge). Other nitro stouts are available (and it works equally well with those).
I loved Strongbow on tap, it was some 1996-2002, as I quite remember... Pretty bland cider. But very nice to round up your whiskey tasting, pipe- and cigar-smoking club meeting. Just to wash down some pipe tobaccos people wanted to share... Oh those the days. When out classmates were _young_... 🥺 edit - Strongbow was a wash-down for the hefty dose of high-fat creamery ice... Well, as we say - who keeps company with the wolf, will learn to howl. Well, I drank with Scots mostly - and quite a sane company of Paddies too, thank you!
What I do (when pouring from cans) is to prick a tiny hole in the tapered rim, opposite the pour hole. This allows me to pour without glugs, which allows for a perfect pour of the gassiest beers. It's all about the angle of the dangle of the glass.
The video title had me confused before I saw what "surging" actually was. I thought Clive had found an old stock of Surge soda and was trying to mix it with something.
Clive, you are by far the most imaginative person on RUclips. I'm amazed that you think of these ideas. However, I'm dying to know one thing - what is inside the 'surger'?

Top educational content as always! I was recently making a batch of Yorkshire puddings and had read a "top tip", to put some sparkling water in with the mix to help it rise. That got me thinking, could you add the CO2 direct into the batter? Would you get turbo puddings?
Just as an interested enquiry, Clive, would that surge the humble Lucozade, or maybe an ice tea, or one of those odd drinks I used to buy from a corner shop, which had little blobs of stuff in them?
It's probably best with drinks that aren't carbonated... like Guinness 😂 or other ales or bitters ... not larger or cider etc... or white wine, Clive 🙄 😂 love the videos as always 👍
It will only workd on things wit protein/amino acids that have been pressurised with "guiness gas" most likely.
