- We took the Escalade to Capitol Reef towing a travel trailer. It tows quite well with the 6.2 and the 10 speed stayed the coolest of any 10 speed I've ever used while towing.
Engine Adventures strives to explore and test the AWD and 4WD systems of all crossovers, SUVs, and pickup trucks. To do this we test vehicles in real world environments in a way that allows viewers to cross shop and explore any vehicle they may be interested in learning about.
New videos every Saturday at 6:30 A.M. MST and occasionally on Wednesdays.
I appreciate seeing this thing get dirty as opposed to climbing curbs in the Target parking lot.
Haha thanks for watching!
The Escalade probably rarely gets tested like that!
I don't see many people using it this way, but nice to know how capable it is! Thanks for watching!
@@EngineAdventures We are actually renting a TT to hook up to our 2021 Escalade and this video was a big help. Wondering if I can avoid the suspension issue by turning off the auto-lowering before I hook the trailer up for the first time.
@@justinbukoski1 good luck on your trip! I'd certainly try turning off the auto level for entry and exit and hopefully you won't have the issue.
Another interesting and informative review!
Thanks for the support!
Thank you...you have provided us with some valuable information..
I will check out your videos showing other off road vehicles..
Awesome, thanks for the support!
Pretty informative. Have some things to think about now.
Thanks for watching!
I just saw one these. Towing. What a luxury beast
I've seen them towing a few times, usually a boat worth at least as much as the Escalade.
It’s a pretty ride!
It sure is, thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great information !

Excellent video. I'm not too familiar with off-roading and don't understand much about the terminology of off-roading but getting familiar with it. Even though off-roading is not my cup of tea, I do enjoy watching luxury SUVs & trucks get captured in videos to see how capable they are.
The Escalade done well but by the sounds of it, the Escalade needs full throttle to keep from getting stuck with out better terrain tires and low range (low terrain).
Thanks for watching and commenting! The Escalade does pretty well off-road, but not as well as a Lexus LX.
So are you currently still of the thinking that the Toyota Sequoia TRD is the best on the high speed portion of the track? Great video by the way
For sure the Sequoia TRD pro is the best in the high speed section! Thanks for watching!
⚠️ Thanks for your amazing reviews, but is it normal to have the coolant temperature at 3 quarter (222 F) ❓
Thanks for watching! It's a little warmer than normal, but nothing to be worried about. Engines are more efficient at these higher temps, as such I've been seeing vehicles run a little warmer now that I'm used to. Same with the transmission in many cases. Ford's 10 speed likes to sit above 200 degrees when not towing, when towing it only goes up another 20-25 degrees in my experience.
What town is that? It looks so familiar. I’m from Alabama and I’ve ridden through there on a motorcycle before.
The towing stuff was near Torrey Utah. The rest is in Utah County. Thanks for watching!
How much does that trailer weigh? I was pulling our 8,000 lb Jayco with my Sierra 1500 (did just fine), but my truck was rated at 10,500 for towing and our Escalade is only rated at 8,100... so thinking we need a smaller trailer now
If I remember correctly this trailer was a little over 8,000. I didn't put this one on scales like i normally do, but its GVWR was like 8,900. We had it pretty much empty, no water or gear inside.
@@EngineAdventures niiice! appreciate the reply !
I had a 2003 ESV. I have a 25' deck boat. Total weight on the trailer is about 7000 lbs. My driveway has a fairly steep incline for about 70'. When backing up the torque converter would stall out at 1900 RPM's. I would have to shut it down and wait for a bit. After it cooled down I would have enough to get it going again. Wondering if you tried backing a trailer up hill with this truck?
Not a long hill, but things have also changed. I can't tell you if that would be too much for a new one. I wish there was more effort to help with this. 1st and 2nd gen Sequoias (Not sure on the new one) can be put into 4wd low without locking the center differential. This greatly reduces the stress on the engine and transmission when backing up steep hills. Just like older vehicles with manual locking hubs, if you want 2wd low so that you can back up steep inclines and still turn without binding the drivetrain you could just put it into 4wd low and unlock the front hubs. Wish these options were more prevalent today!
Wonder if off-road mode would have worked better going up the climb.
It may have made a difference, but a low range transfercase or better tires would have made more of a difference I think.
Sick
How long was your travel trailer? (In feet)
I want to say it was a 30ft trailer. When they say they are 30ft that just includes the box, not the rear bumper and trailer tongue.
You should test out the 4wd 2012 ford explorer off road. It would be very interesting. Great content by the way
I'll see if I can find one to test! Thanks for the support!
Should have gotten the duramax
The 3.0 Duramax is one of my favorite engines. Modern diesel emissions systems however are extremely unreliable. Doesn't matter the brand (including heavy equipment).
Need tow mirrors.
For sure, if you're towing something this wide you should have tow mirrors!
What is the top speed?
Towing or empty? I didn't test either so I don't know real world, however I believe it's computer limited to 130 mph.
@@EngineAdventures Without towing. BTW compared to fortuner or innova with Cadillac, who is best in speed?
We don't get the Fortuner or Innova here in the US, but with a 6.2 liter V8 and 420 horsepower, my guess is that the Cadillac will be the quickest in 0-60 mph and 1/4 mile times.
@@EngineAdventures Ok, I'm from India and my dream car is Cadillac Escalade!
@@fergthediddly3238 Does your country sell Cadillacs over there? I've never hear people talk about Cadillac in India. Just curious.
