if kawhi stays, in 2020 free agency, raps have only 10m in salary. factor in kawhi's 35ish that puts them to 45m and still can have 2 max slots not to mention pascal siakam is a rising star. I think kawhi knows that he has a good thing going for him in TO that can keep him in competition for the championship every year.
also if marc gasol declines his option and 2019 he signs for like 5m and in 2020 signs for 20m (just so raps can go after a nice free agent this summer) that could work too.

Unless there is something I am missing Kawhi is resigning with the Raptors...? If he resigns the Raptors will be be a top 3 team in the NBA for the foreseeable future, that means a shot at a title for the next 5 years. He will make an extra 40 million, and he will be surrounded by young talent like Siakam,OG,and Vanvleet. The Clippers currently don't have a top 25 player on their roster and the Raptors have two...they also have their own stadium and one of the best run organizations in the NBA. If Kawhi goes to LA it's a gamble, it could end up being like the Lebron fiasco this year, he has to learn a new system and build chemistry with new guys which takes time. In Toronto he has a sure thing and he can build on what they have already accomplished....oh and he won't play second fiddle to Lebron.
