    We still live off just my husband’s income. My income paid for the house remodel. This year my income will go to clear the cars and so happy about that.

    Dave Ramsey is LiFE CHANGING! You are so right about the absence of stress - no fights about money, no sleepless nights wondering how we are going to pay a bill, etc. My son is a freshmen in college and instead of stressing over tuition bills - I can just pay them and move on. Being debt free has literally changed our lives.

    Awesome, we've followed Dave Ramsey and the baby steps for years now and it truly is a game changer! Our son recently got engaged and hubby and I plan to pay to have him and his soon to be wife go through FPU! I can talk till I'm blue in the face and he doesn't hear me when it comes to money so I think FPU will be a big step in the right direction as they start their life together!!

    THANK YOU! I wish you both would consider making this a frequent vlog on your channel, the reason especially for me is I’m the type that needs to be reminded and my thought process especially with funds needs to be reinforced. I’m the bad one in the family, when you spoke about “nickel and diming” that’s me to a T! Again thank you both so much, I couldn’t hear this encouragement and information enough.
    Edit: A huge thank you for creating the spreadsheet for us to use 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

    We love Dave Ramsey. Our church did it for a year in small groups. I love your videos keep up the great work. One thing I do is I make a list of the things in the house I want to do it change and I go to goodwill, wait for huge clearance sales. And if I find something on Amazon i.like, I add it to my cart or wish list and wait for awhile and then I make the decision to purchase it or not.
    I had to leave my job last year as I had hurt my back and sitting or standing for long periods is no longer a option. In October of 2018 we were destroyed by Hurricane Michael, we learned so quickly what was most important. God Bless you and your sweet daughter.

    I just recently came across your channels (LOVE, by the way & I've been binge watching!) But, I've really been binging these videos. My issue is, I have all the motivation in the world to pay off debt (& thank God it really isn't a lot) however, it seems like every time I get any sort of extra income, something else always comes up. But these videos give me so much motivation, so thank you!

    Thanks so much for the spreadsheet. Our downfall is definitely eating out. After working all day, I seldom want to come home and cook too. If I am organized to do a crock pot meal, I am fine, but that doesn't always happen. I have filled out the spreadsheet and think I will do the envelopes for eating out and household items/decor. I am super motivated!

    Bought the Financial Piece University kit for our kids. They started it, we’re doing great and then quit. One of our two adult children is still in debt. We are debt free except mortgage. Paid cash for our “brand new car”. Retired. God has blessed us in this area. John Commuta is another great program to use. The only thing I personally don’t care for about Mr. Ramsey is his bad habit, as a Christian no less, of name calling and using “stupid” and “idiot” constantly. And “Shut up”. He’s brilliant. But if he’s trying to encourage people to become debt free, and they’re already down, why belittle them even more? Otherwise...his program will not fail anyone...if one follows it and uses it correctly. Thx for the candid video. These are encouraging.

    You provided some very practical tips. My grant sponsored job ended after three years. I saved what I thought was a year’s worth of living expenses to tide me over until I secured new employment. It turned out to be 8 months of living expenses. It tided me over until I found employment. I also managed to continue with small things such as getting my nails done (I know that’s a no no). It also made me realize how I really didn’t need some items. I also shopped my house when I wanted new decor.

    I’m 29 years old and purchased a two-family home in July of 2014 for $214,900. It will be paid off in March! I have sacrificed yummy daily coffees, luxurious vacations, driving a luxury car, like all of my family and friends and it’s finally become all worth it! Everyone has asked me how I’ve done it. I’ve saved a ton since I started working at age 15. I’ve always tried to work as much as I could while still vacationing (on a budget) twice a year. I hate being called cheap - I label myself frugal. There’s absolutely no need to purchase a brand new car just because the payment is “only $400 a month.” I drive a 2007 CRV - paid $8,500 cash out of pocket. I was told “you’re young and single you should get yourself a brand new car.” That mentality is completely ridiculous. My car has GPS, automatic starter, leather, and sun roof - why should I spend more? For what? It gets me to where I need to go. It’s not hard to save you just need to be disciplined and stay focused on your goal. Stop acting rich in order to impress others - I feel like everyone is in competition with each other due to social media. It’s a very good feeling to be debt free and I’m proud of myself. If I can do it, you guys can too!💙

    This is all SO true! I have bought (and sold) two houses and the tip at 9:14 is so the truth. The lenders do not care about you and your bills. This content is real, Ashley! I've always lived within my means and had small debt. It's all true though - sell what you can and SAVE for your future!

    Great advice! I really think you have to want it in order to be successful, because everyone can try. We live in a very basic home, but we are able to save and not worry about our bills. We could live in a nicer more lavish home, but chose not to. My car is 6 years old and paid off. I could afford a new car today, but will keep it for the next seven years and then gift it to my son. It all comes down to choices and the lifestyle you what or live.

    GREAT job presenting Dave and answering questions! My copy of this book is the only book Max ever colored in as a toddler, and now he is 12! I smile when I see the green crayon! Sadly I’ve been a yo-yo Dave fan over the years, so I’m not in that great of financial shape even though I could be. Thank you for pouring the koolaid-you and Chase have inspired me to chug it down. I SO agree that paying down debt becomes addictive. I remember jumping up and down when I’d find even just a couple dollars in a coat pocket😂. Do you put it all into savings or is it your spend money? Does it go with your monthly income or just extra? I hope this isn’t to personal. Thanks Ashley and Chase for spreading the word! Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend! Hugs 🤗

    Thank you so much for sharing all of your tips! We love Dave Ramsey here as well! I'm curious about the process you followed for your sinking funds/envelopes while paying of debt. So say for Christmas (or even car tax/registration, etc which you know are necessary expenses each year) did you put a line in your budget each pay for Christmas or did you dump all of your money left over (after bills) onto the baby step that you were on and just use garage sale/bonuses/etc. to pay for the sinking funds. I hope this makes sense! I see so many people do it so many different ways. We're still trying to figure out what works best for us!

    • @TilVacuumDoUsPart
      @TilVacuumDoUsPart  5 лет назад

      If we had extra money in the budget ( say we saved money on a bill or something ) we would put it into the envelopes but our main source was creating extra money by selling things around the house or flipping pieces I found at garage sales.

    Great video, great advice. I’m single no kids but went thru a divorce so accumulated a lot of debt. I have no idea who Dave Ramsey is but it sounds like a lot of his ideas just came natural to me in order to keep my head above water. I don’t have a fancy spreadsheet ; I use a simple one subject 80 page spiral notebook to write down how much money was coming in each month and how much was going out. Huge help when trying to budget on non-essential items. Something my dad always told me was to have an extra $10 taken out for taxes when filling out the W-4. You don’t even feel it and I always have a positive return each year that goes straight to savings. I also have at least $100 per bi-monthly paycheck auto drafted to savings each month. That is a savings of $2400 each year. If $200 per month is too much set your own limit. At least $100 will yield $1200 per year! Again...don’t even know it’s missing. No credit card debit! I have credit cards for emergencies only but if I don’t have enough in my checking account to buy what I want (after all bills paid) then I don’t get it. Period. House buying...I sacrificed nails hair makeup and other luxuries for the higher payment each month for the 15 year note. Again...don’t even feel it and it will be paid off in half the average time. I like to play the lottery/gamble every once in a while...when I win...all winnings go to savings. Know. When. To. Quit. Just a few tips of mine...hope it can help someone reading comments 🙂

    Yes! I need to give this a go! My husband has health issues which could possibly mean that one day we could have to live off my income for a while. I added up our monthly costs of living, no luxuries apart from our sons swimming lessons ($50 a month) and holy cow I almost had a heart attack! I need to get this book! Which one do i get though? He has so many! 😆 positive attitudes. I want to have a decent savings by the time i’m 35. 6 years doesn’t feel long enough! Hahaha. But then i’ll also be starting to study teaching so lord help me! That’ll be a good $20,000-$30,000! But if i have savings, i won’t need to stress....as much! 😂

    We taught Financial Peace at church for several years. What still completely amazes us is how much financial debt is caused by college tuition! We so wish high schools informed kids better about the dangers of college loans! We are retired, no debt, and are living comfortably. Dave Ramsey’s methods are so unconventional and against America’s way of doing it all on credit!

    So when you say debt free, do you still have a mortgage? Or does that not count as debt? Just trying to figure out what you consider debt. We got new truck so that would obviously be debt. But other than that we pay Regular Bill's and a mortgage. So our goal would be to do the 1000 first step, then save the 3 months? Or do you start throwing at that loan first? We own a home but want to move this summer. So we need to figure out what we can afford. I'm glad you mentioned lenders will put you in a hole. I am worried we will see a number that we can get for a house but can not actually afford.
    Thank you for the tips!

    • @TilVacuumDoUsPart
      @TilVacuumDoUsPart  5 лет назад

      So baby step two is all debt excluding the mortgage. Paying off the mortgage is his baby step 6. So in your situation I would do the $1000 first, throw everything you can at the truck loan, then 3-6 months savings.
