Mediocre they may be, but they are the only team that you can watch and enjoy some actual watchable bball. All the rest of the league is just chuck a 3.
@@hardywoodaway9912 Certainly for watching defense there are more watchable teams. For me, I can’t stand the flop and foul grift; so some of the “better” teams with the league ordained free-throw darlings are impossible to watch
Agree 100%. Can’t stand the all 3 ball league. If Denver can get their defense together, maybe make a minor move, they can win it all again and show the league the 3 ball is overrated.
They are not 'mediocre'. That is just noise by the NBA media and social media 'experts' who think it's easy to win and don't take the nuances of the ebbs and flows of a long season into account.
Yes and no. You have a point, but their defense has also been very poor compared to previous years. Losing KCP hurts and AG out for many games, but a lot of it is lack of effort from the rest of the starters. Murray is hardly in a defensive position most of the game and they switch on screens too easily, which dates back to the Wolves series last year which points to strategy/coaching.
The only thing the Nuggets 'need' is a quality backup Center when Joker goes to the bench. DJ is basically a quasi-coach at this stage of his career, but he's playing because Saric and Nnaje suck! I knew Jamal would turn it on, and MPJ has played well all season. We need to get healthy, acquire a quality backup Center, and have patience. The worst thing to happen would be to make a knee-jerk reaction and trade one of our core players like MPJ.
Well put, though we sure could use some more reliable shooting and some KCP type perimeter defense (KCP come home, get away from those bad Magic people!). Next year Holmes, and DJ off the roster, but maybe a coaching position. Right now, no assets to get Jokic help (good job Booth).
@@boltcourt6 yes sir, Jonas V. is my ideal fit. An intimidating presence that can protect the rim, get rebounds on both ends of the floor, and set picks for the Offense.
@@nenevz2948@nenevz2948 We don't need 'reliable shooting.' On any given night, MPJ, Jamal, AG, and Westbrook can go off. The shooting notion is because of the model that the 'Dead Dynasty Warriors' created with the Splash Brothers. The Nuggets have a transcendental player in Joker that the Dead Dynasty Warriors never had. The Nuggets are the number one team in transition, putting a lot of heat on teams, especially at Altitude. When the Nuggets go to the half-court game with Jamal and Joker, they can kill any Defense in the league. CB, Westbrook, and P-Wat are elite perimeter defenders. Yet, there are times when they have left shooters wide open on the perimeter this season because of a lack of effort and intensity, not personal. The only thing missing from their 9-man rotation is a quality backup Center like Jonas V. and to 'consistently' play with effort and intensity. It was an epic mistake not to resign Jay Huff and acquire Dario Saric in free agency. Regarding trade bait, Calvin Booth will have to sell a team like the Wizards on Zeke Nnaje's 'potential' with a fresh start and include draft picks.
Oh brother, putting Westbrook in a box, he "always plays poorly in the playoffs", what a truly ignorant, ridiculous statement to make! He'll prove you wrong. He's found a home with Denver, who knows how to use him, and it'll just get better!
Yeah I remember in the distant past of 2 years ago the boys trying to sell JM as an All-Star, post his Finals run, and I was like do we just discount his entire career to that point where he never starts hot enough let alone in a stacked West to even be considered? Like we can hope he changed, but I don't think the voters should have just let him in over folks actually having good years. It's good that he's self aware enough to know it. It's weird 9 years in he seems to have no interest in not doing it. Then again he's gonna make a few hundred million at the end of the day so what do I know. I mean we joke about Jokmas but dude still puts up casual triple dubs when he's lollygagging.
They just need more maturity from their bench. They will gel and be much better by the end of the season. It's not always about changing players. It might be about patience and coaching.
This summer the team needs to move on from Mal & get what they can for him. What Booth did in resigning him early should be the defining move of Booth’s “legacy”. Josh K prob needs to clean house & retool.
What exactly do you think the nuggets can get for Murray? It probably wouldn’t be a good return at all and surely won’t be what Murray CAN BE in the playoffs. It might upset you guys but the nuggets best chance at winning is with the core as currently constructed unless a player like fox forces his way here which is never happening.
@@torpedospurs That changes in the summer when the year turns over, then Murray is tradeable. And what you do is you trade murray and probably a younger player a team is interested in just to unload Murray's salary. Westbrook should be a starter. He would make their games so much easier. He got a bad reputation when he played with the Lakers but there was a lot of things wrong with that team and he became the scapegoat for everything, although Lebron was playing to make his stats look like he is still an elite player.
Everything Tim said here is true, but I think I’ve come to the conclusion that in the playoffs none of this will matter because I just think that what the Nuggets want to get to and do is more consistent and reliable than these teams gunning for 45 3s a game. The defense is concerning, but they’re playing a defense similar to the Heat of the 2023 playoffs. I also don’t see a team in the West that I like over them in a 7 game series. I just don’t.
Just be healthy, and I like the Nuggets over anybody. Last year most of us who watched Denver regularly were fairly sure Jokic was playing injured and it showed
