For Patagonia, its fare trade and environment. Maybe you have interest for other well intended purposes you can research and spend your dollars there.
I haven't given it much thought when choosing clothing. If it looks good and priced right I get it. I used to just buy the cheapest stuff but I've shifted from that mindset in recent years. I want comfort and style and I'm usually ok with paying for it. This was very informative and will influence me to try Patagonia. Thanks Chad!
Patagonia is lot more reasonable for those of us working outdoor recreation. As a ski patroller I get 40% of Patagonia twice a year! Having such access to really high quality gear is amazing.
As an Outdoor educator, I need clothes that perform well, and hold up. I have used other brands that didn’t cut it. But Patagonia works, doesn’t pick up odors and lasts longer than other brands. For me, it’s an easy purchase.

Been debating on buying a jacket from Patagonia due to the large price. After I watched their documentaries and watched many Patagonia reviews. I've decided to buy the jacket and I'm very excited about receiving it in the mail!
All of my favorite pieces of clothing are from Patagonia. The only thing I get frustrated at is when you really dig a particular piece and need to replace it and they have changed the style or cut. Not many people know that Patagonia is a major contractor that manufactures combat gear for USSOCOM (United States Special Operations). The truth is that Patagonia's hidden product line is being deployed in combat zones all over the world. I'm cool with it and find it kind of amusing, but peope should do their research and make their own call. Nevertheless this is something that Patagonia has decided to stay completely quiet about.
I have a long sleeve black shirt made from recycled materials but high quality and warm. Simple Patagonia name at front in white and colourful large logo at back. Hands down my fave shirt and got heaps of compliments.
Got an Patagonia Fleece, which my dad worn ( is that correct English) already more than 30years ago, when he was doing alpine tours. its the best fleece I have in my wardrobe! perfect quality then and now!

I love Patagonia. I live in Argentina by the products are very expensive. I understand the importance of your message. for that reason I decide to invest in their products. (Argentina is financial inflation. The average income of an employee is US $ 250/300)
Patagonia’s fly fishing gear is great. That’s the primary reason why I buy their clothing too. It feels quality. My only beef I have with them is I don’t particularly care for my micro puff jacket fit but it keeps me warm and seems durable. However their ethics and charitable donations and action toward fighting climate change and maintaining river preservation are a huge value statement. If you have an issue with the price, it’s understandable. It’s definitely a bougie brand, but check out their outlets or end of season sales. Best time to scoop gear.
Also second hand. There's lots of Patagonia out there on marketplace, poshmark, eBay. The majority of my Patagonia gear was bought second hand for really good prices
I'm a North Face guy, but just bought the patagonia retro pile fleece jacket, will arrive sometime next week, it was time to try out this brand and see if its good, heard so much positive about it for ages.

I try to buy as much made in USA products, but they are very open in how they make their products in Vietnam and china which makes me able to trust them in their process without the use of child labour. One of the few non made in the USA brands I have no problem buying from in my opinion

I have a pair of Patagonia long johns that are nearly 35 years old and have been worn a lot. They are basically good as new. I also have a climbing pack from Chouinard Equipment that is pushing 40 and still sees fairly regular use to this day.

Just cause there's many people in the production of the clothing doesn't mean it's not just another top heavy corporation. They probably pay their suppliers a little more, but I highly doubt it's substantially more.

I love patagonia quality and goals. But now l noticed made in china on the tags, and there prices not coming down. Not shure if they are honest or they just want us to feel good. I feel better getting as a clearence item at REI.
It's made in Asia but they use extremely well vetted fair labour factories. They're extremely transparent on their website about the people who make their clothing and where it gets made. Patagonia has one of the highest labour standards of any company... The prices don't come down by doing business in Asia because they aren't engaging in poor labour laws like other companies... If you did an ounce of research on this brand you'd know they're the real deal, they absolutely do not green wash like you're claiming.

Yes, I’m a customer and a dedicated consumer of this brand. I have found myself wearing and purchasing more of Patagonia when I’m cloths shopping. The quality is beyond anything I have used in other brands. Another reason I’m such a Patagonia fan is what they stand for.

I’ve been a Patagonia customer since 1993. When everyone was wearing northface little ol me was rocking Patagonia. Why? There jackets were much more functional than northface etc.. I want the world to know that Patagonia has definetly fell off with there workmanship. Perhaps it’s not their fault. Maybe the products, cotton, fleece, down, etc… fell off making Patagonia feel cheap. At any rate, as a customer for decades, Patagonia is definitely not the same. Oh well.
