I'm so addicted to Baldur's Gate 3 that I'm watching this video WHILE playing the game 🗿
Dude same
i'm either playing the game or watching videos about the game or watching people play the game. my life has been consumed
I'm having withdrawals but I need to work 😂
I farted when I read this comment.
I surrendered my life to Larian
I really respect your refusal to save scum, I wish I could do the same. I even played as the dark urge to force myself to be more chaotic and evil, but i'm kinda hindered by my inability to be mean to the poor pixel people :(
Also your game reviews are always so great, you really manage to get the right balance between showing gameplay and talking about the game!
Thanks! Yeah I'm definitely saving the dark urge for another playthrough cause that'd be too rough for me on my first playthrough haha. It's been interesting though, many many things have gone wrong and there's been quite a few full party deaths but it makes the things that work feel awesome :)
I only save scum if it's something extremely inconvenient. For example, if I'm playing late in the night and I just want to do some exploration and accidentally started a fight with like 10 enemies, I'm just like, nope, not in the mood right now, and I reload. There's also something that happens in act 3 that was out of my control that the game did without my involvement that really annoyed me so I also save scummed that. But yeah, no shame in save scumming lol.
I plan to not save scumming for my evil playthrough to see how it goes if I accidentally antagonise everyone. In the current playthrough, though, I wanted to see what the player could do as a good character as much as possible, so yeah, save scumming all the way.
I had no trouble with my dark urges until it got me to bury a super cute kobold alive. I felt real bad afterwards but I've seen the consequences of refusing the urge and compared to that I guess it was sad, but managable >
Dont worry, because Durge is way better as a story for the good, redemption story goes hard.
I'm so addicted to BG3, I one day just thought "shhhh tadpole, we're not throwing my phone in the river. We still need it." When I had an intrusive thought.
Funny how the idea of "instrusive thoughts" seems to have really taken root in the public mind the past decade or so. I thought I was genuinely insane having them in the 1990s when there wasn't even any sort of official terminology for them.
Never figured myself for a mindflayer infectee though.
we're all mindflayer infectees :) @@SotiCoto
Intrusive thoughts really do fall into three category.
A) Funny
B) Scary
C) I need a therapist/exorcist.
I always feel bad pushing enemies in to the abyss because then I can't loot them to see if they had something shiny
Ah, a fellow Chaotic Lootful, I see. 🤝 😄
Remember children: passing on a loot is a sin, but shoving a meatsack ( !! potentially, unknowingly !! ) full of shinies off the cliff is absolutely sacrilegious and immoral behavior!
There's a loading screen tool tip that specifically addresses this quandary.
FYI: if you push the Giant Phase Spider down the hole in its lair, you can loot it in the Underdark section.
I don't think I've ever cackled so loudly watching a BG3 clip as I did when that cultist fucking dove in front of that barrel at just the right moment
If I'm playing singleplayer, I savescum so much because I have this intense need (one might say a Dark Urge) for the story to go my way and to essentially have a fairy tale ending. If I'm playing multiplayer with my friends or family however... a lot of our revivify scrolls are gone because of pushing each other off of cliffs, setting traps for each other, the Iron Flask, fighting to see who's build is better, one of us finding an alternate way in and trying to unlock the door via lockpicking while the other engages in some minor barrelmancy to open the door, the Iron Flask, just explosions in general (I pushed my step-brother into the Bibberbang), and just plain ol' fuckery... and the Iron Flask. We're actually really good in combat, we're just bad at collective common sense. Needless to say our bodycount is a lot higher than my singleplayer playthroughs.
I had Asterion cast a spell to put the children to sleep, and I congratulated myself for developing a tidy solution to that moral dilemma. Then Halsin killed one of the sleeping children, waking the other up. The fight ended with me chunks of dead child scattering through the air as I realized the non-lethal option doesn't apply to crossbows.
I also am an addict to this game, and I do so much save scumming, for the sake of getting the play through I want, (and banging Shadowheart)
I'm just gonna play the game and see what happens. "Shadowheart disapproves" F8
0:55 They need to add in an option to allow players to hear those amazing outtakes to be opted in where they originally were meant to be.
Freedom in this game is so crazy. Never seen so many ways to play and win it.
I love that in the windmill you have two levers. One is the break one is the gas and you have the temptation to hit the release lever.
BG3 is one of very few games that you can play on the hardest difficulty and still not reload failed rolls because it's just so fun to see what happens. Sorry windmill guy.
The weird thing is that it's exactly like the studio's two previous games, Divinity and Divinity 2, but nobody ever really noticed those. Same gameplay mechanics down to the smallest detail, same character choices and customization, but they never really got much attention. Then they got the rights to make a new Baldur's Gate, and everybody freaks out about it.
Tips: choose race as drow or disguised using spell, you’ll experience full racism (NPC) outright attack you or likely to attack you) and favoritism. Drow can walk farther than other races in combat and has super dark vision
I've been playing drow and so far it's been good. Like normal people mention it but it never really seems to be an issue. But with the absolutionists it's a real benefit cuz they just let you in as one of their own. So far I only see benefits...
Did D&D ever incorporate penalties for darkvision races in normal daylight? Y'know... for realism. Logically speaking a Drow should have to wear welding goggles to leave the underdark... like I basically have to in real life.
I went to play Baldur's Gate 3, and I developed an addiction. Thank you! I needed this
I appreciate the princess bride reference
Whats interesting is that even your custom character can die permanently, and you get to play as one of the companion who survives.
Like what game does that? Even games that involve Permadeath automatically game overs if your character die. but in BG3 every companion can be a main player.
death isn't permanent though, in fact it's basically the opposite
I don't want to spoil this game for myself as I heard good reviews, I just came over to say great thumbnail dude :)
base game solo is solid 9/10, with friends either co-op/3-4man party even solo with mods the game becomes an legendary 10/10. Sadly act 3 is rushed and content got cut however the game definetly delivers! Cant wait for future patches and definitive edition
yes content got cut, but every game has cut content...and not just a little bit of cut content. Every game has massive amounts of content they filter out or cut.
@@Goblin1986p he's not criticizing it, Act 3 does feel like it has a decent bit less than the other two. It' still an awesome game regardless
Larian just said in a post that they are going to introduce cut content later on in another patch. If they come out with a definitive edition, which they are known to do, owners of the game will receive it for free. Basically free DLC, so it only gets better from here.
Your commentary is top-tier! Hope to see more BG3 content 😊
Bro, I just found your channel and I've been going through your videos and I gotta say, you are one of the funniest people and you deserve million subs (or even more).
dw, no spoilers here, but I "went with the flow" in act 3. I stumbled upon a situation where I had no clue what was going on. So I just went for it. Turned out to be a (later) part of a very important story line where the consequences of my actions were HUGE. I lost a lot of other choices by just doing whatever there but I don't regret it one bit! I was having real doubts on whom to trust and my naive actions ended up making the choice real easy because it accidentally turned certain potential allies into enemies.
what was the situation? i finished the game but im intrigued to know what bit is this
@@ninisdilemma SPOILER ALERT
The bit with the submarine, I found it without knowing anything about it but I promised myself not to reload and always just deal with the consequences of my actions :'). I actually was considering ruling WITH him (not sure if that is a thing outside of Dark Urge)
@@AgonizingDemise it is in a normal playthrough! but same i stumbled onto it by accident when that woman said one of her girls died or smth...... didnt reload :')
One of the best RPG's ever made
I knew the game was amazing when it let me pick up a goblin and use it to beat the crap out of another goblin.
counterpoint: if you dont have enough free time to realistically play through multiple times, absolutely save your game, play things out, and reload if it didnt work out good, if you lose the party member you like, feel free to reoad
_Lae'zel disapproves._
You guys want a cool detail?
Before you kill the Duergar hunting party in the Underdark beach, you can talk to Sovereign Glut in the Myconoid Colony and use his skill to ressurrect the Bulette that was hunting you.
Hell, you can use him to kill the Bulette too, he hits like a mfkin truck.
Nice, now an excuse for a 4th playthrough :)
It a very good year for video games. So many game of the year contender.
That thumbnail is chefs kiss
I didn’t have speak with animals and I got fucking jumpscared by the 25 ac killer frog.
You had me all the way right up until "it's definitely better than the golem game"
The only thing keeping me from experiencing this masterwork is its immense 100 Gig download size. My internet is absolutely garbage, and I cannot drive; it's up to my brother rn, as my mom is recovering from vertigo.
I just finished my first complete playthrough with 3 friends...
Multiplayer can be so chaotic at times, feels close to tabletop.
Im just chillin', tradin', suddenly combat and I hear "I just talked with that person and he threatened me so I threatened him..." pretty much xD
Giving the owlbear egg as a dragon egg in multi-player.
Barb, that's mix maxed with 8 wis, 8 int, and 8 char.
Difficulty check 21.
Rolls a nat 20.
Everyone: yells and screams. Good times.
The thumbnail for this video is probably the best I've seen all year.
One of us! One of us! One of us!
I...have been...such a good lad. My first playthrough I've been a genuinely good boi vengeance paladin. Even fighting the Dark Urge origin. But brother let me tell you...round two?
I AM the intrusive thoughts. ***We killin' everybody except Minthara and Scelaritus and SCELARITUS IS NEGOTIABLE***
I love how you narrate the game dude lol!!! Pls keep this up
Nice to see some love for minor illusion, a much underrated spell imho.
I misread brake release, as brakes, which resulted in that flying gnome. Classic BG3 moment for me.
Yeah same
I just want to know where this video's clip art with shadowheart, laezel, and the mindflayer as a meme came from. LOVE IT I NEEDS IT
Haha thanks I just drew it yesterday. Took a few hours but it was fun :)
@@therealcyanman It's entirely the reason I clicked.. it's fantastic
amen... btw you can shoot those giant fiery braziers and make them fall down, don't need as many barrels that way!
"Call me Anakin Skywalker cause im about to murder some kids" 😂😂😂😂
"I appreciate that you can't just go monkey brain style" This man obviously hasn't played a strength monk with tavern brawler while being drunk.
This game is THE BEST RPG ever made. Why? Because i always saved scummed to get the game i wanted.
But if you do that in this game, you are gimping yourself.
Best rpg ever and game of the year. Period.
That frog fucked me up man
the frog is heavy i left him alone since i did not killed the hag and the curse never gots banished from that little fellow
Every proper BG3 player either plays Drow or Scally. This is the law of the land.
my heart is too weak not to savescum, BUT you have inspired me to make a separate save for specifically no scumming... just AFTER I finish my main playthru :)
hell my dark urge save will be the one with no reloads, fuck it B)
Those goblin kids have a true crackhead energy. Cracks me up everytime.
I almost save scummed the Volo surgery. Then I didnt. I was laughing so hard I woke up the house.
1:15 this moment makes me want to dry my eyes playing this
The thumb nail Pic is incredible!!
Pfft, I'm not savescumming. I'm just... roleplaying as a chronomancer
I'm only here for the thumbnail. Nicely done.
MORE BALDURS GATE 3 VIDEOS seriously tho your commentary and gameplay is hilarious
My party was run over was a huge boulder yesterday and today they exploded off from a cliff. Best moments of my run love this game.
4:55 I love that we actually have to murder the goblin kids 🤣🤣
Me waiting for an update that adds goblin race, Hexblade Warlock, Swashbuckller Rogue and Jojo Monk: i want to cause problems and have the power to absolutely avoid most consequences.
Stopping the kids ala Anakin Skywalker because they are the biggest threat in the room made me laugh so hard.🤣😆
saying no to the icepick IS save scumming. i have one eye now btw
best thumbnail ever
That frog kicked my ass
I am so consumed by this game when Gale went on about how important these artefacts are I accidentally paused the video trying to skip his ramblings lol
I love the gale slander
Nice video
I have to point out that using the Auntie Ethel quest as an example of "making hard choices" is really the worst example possible example, the quest literally forces you into doing the worst for no good reason.
For me I just chose to leave and say no to the very clearly evil witch, so I don't even know what happens. Mostly because that choice spooked me because the game has no chill when you make dumb choices lol
@@therealcyanman Fair enough, I could give context but I really can't with out spoiling it, tldr: The game just forces you to act like a cartoon villain or do the obviously bad thing and gives you no other choice for no good reason, you either do that or leave the quest unfinished, the role playing game forces you to act one of two ways and nothing else with no good reason.
@@rafaelsousa5 thats not true at all. the "fight" gives u plenty of chances not to kill her. even an extra dialog option when she falls below 20% hp
tf ur talking abt? the game doesnt force u to anything. its more of a parody, bc if u do the "obvious" good thing the story slaps u in the face for ur naivety to approach the quest like that.
not killing her actually gives a great reward just fyi and is even more satisfying from a rp pov
maybe u should think abt why u sided with the "poor maiden"
@@dead4419 And you should properly read my comment before going on a rant with so much confidence, I never talked about killing anyone did I? Nor did I touch on your so called "maiden". And I did clearly said "or leave that quest unfinished" so I am talking about the end of the quest, killing or not killing Auntie is not the end of the quest, hell the good option there would be actually killing her from a RP standpoint, especially in my case since I was running Paladin.
Now for the actual topic at hand and what I was actually talking about (spoilers for this quest ahead):
You are given 2 options, either raise her dead husband, which is clearly not a good option since the staff is a trick and won't actually revive him, just raise him as a zombie or and this is what grind my gears: you show the staff to the pregnant woman, break it in her face and then proceed to give a shit eating grin cartoon villain smile.
So yes the game either forces you to take the bad option or be a dick and nothing else with no good reason, there is no reasonable reason to not let me just not tell her about the staff and break it off screen, the game even stops you to, it literally forces you into those 2 paths with no in-between or choice.
Maybe you should take the whole situation into consideration instead of just assuming "killing bad" is my problem, especially when the subject is a hag.
It's a thing to just not let me revive him with a scroll for obvious reasons, I don't want a cheesy good ending or anything, but not having an option to just not be a dick and or try to help her in some other way is just bad quest design, especially when there is a similar situation later where you can try to convince someone out of trying to revive their parents the same way.
How so? You can kill the hag and save everyone. You can even save the people in the mask. You can save the sister and choose to either raise her husband as a zombie or break the wand. You can do many different things in that quest.
The combat is so engaging
Omg, you could be a comedian. Is been awhile I enjoy RUclips video. The barrel fail is epic! I can’t stop laughing! Pls do more.
One correction, there is one unkillable foe, the true BBEG, Mol the Tiefling. He cannot be killed. Game actively encourages you to kill goblin kids, yet one Tiefling punk is untouchable
I should hope so, Mol is my best friend even if I can't tell if they're a boy or a girl.
Me? Save scum? Never!
(Presses F8)
The thumbnail had me crying laughing lol
The first thing I did when I picked up rotten food was eat it and get poisoned 10/10. Edit: I also tried to use magic missile on that frog once I realized it's AC was like 30 and yeah... it reflects projectiles. Also it doesn't have any xp or loot if you do succeed in killing it... It exists pretty much entirely to give you like a single garnet if you kill the hag first, such a disappointing frog. Edit2: Screw ettins, that's all I gotta say about those. Edit3: For the record I didn't reload saves when I messed up and Wyll super died because I hit the green button which evidently is the bad one. Whoops. I also was over the moon as somebody told me they can take Astarion out of my camp for me, lol. I immediately hit long rest and sent that smug jackass who tried to bite me IN MY SLEEP on his way.
A drow character that actually acts like a drow would lol
I’ll stop save scumming when I stop having themed play throughs.
that picture of the video haha nice!
Leave Gale in the portal,or cut his hand off if you are dark urge!
This is why triple A games makers are shift blaming and crying saying you can’t expect high quality games like this from us and lower your expectations
Just because of the thumbnail you got a subscriber
Curently in act 3. Some bugs but nothing serious since there are always multible ways to resolve a situation.
Also stabing someone from behind is way easier when you see they line of sight with [shift].
I played from premiere. Now I got 145h played in this moment. Sooooo... That say how I love this game
"Feels so "mmh!", it makes me go "mmh!". 😆
I have to live with bad outcomes irl. Let me save scum Rick!
I gotta say this about the thumbnail, it think it should be Shadow heart holding back Lei’zel not the other way around.
I just hate how OP the npc’s are, there’s no reason I should have my ass beaten by some small ass walking brains early in game
new subscriber the content is freaking hilarious
Oh, the Narrator outtakes)
i got a runepowder barrel that does 10d8+36 force damage in a massive radius, if i ever see an enemy that approaches me the wrong way they get to go boom
More! More Baldur's Door!
Source on the thumbnail? It's hilarious
I drew it haha
@@therealcyanman Did you upload it anywhere? I want to add it to my wallpapers. Great video but I can't stop thinking about the sad mindflayer
Oh and after failing 6 50/50's to unlock a chest at advantage, 2 of which were nat 1's (12 fails and all I needed was 11 or higher, that's like a 5/20000 chance or something)
Every single character moving forward of mine is a halfling, probably with lucky feat and 2 levels divination wizard for portent.
I think a lot of people are misinterpreting the anti-save scum stance as some kind of snobby "you're playing the game wrong," thing, but really it's just people who have experienced how incredibly reactive the game is and want to share that with people who may be underestimating it. The game really does do things that years of other games will have conditioned you to not even think are possible. There are so many ways around obstacles that failing something just makes the narrative go in a different direction. The results of failures might not be as immediate as something like Disco Elysium, but they add up and interact with one another. The effect of this is that the game becomes so much more exciting because there are actual stakes.
This game is making history. for me the most important RPGs of Modern Gaming are Skyrim, The Witcher 3, Divinity 2 and Baldur's Gate 3. two of Which are Larian games. I know Divinity 2 is technically a CRPG but even though, this says a lot.
WoW is N1 still. QQ more now! xD
Lost that eye twice so far
I did not expect a reference to the godhead 5:50
Baldies Door is probably the best game I've played in the last 10 to 15 years.
Some boss fights have their own background songs
I was perfectly fine save scumming after I insta died almost immediately and had to painstaking reloot a bunch of stuff. My policy is, if the game is willing to insta kill me at every turn, I'm willing to save scum.
The THUMBNAIL 😂
I only save scum for rolls. If I make the wrong choice in convo or in battle I suck it up and live with it 😂
Not reloading a save isnt an option when youve done or said something that turns the entire room hostile. (like most things you can do or say)
Like anything you do or day to Voss the lvl12 Gith, he will have your party slaughtered by lvl6 giths. Only way I've ever gotten past is rolling 2 nat-20s and casting detect thoughts. That one took some savescumming since the only other alternative is getting slaughtered for 10 minutes while crying.
There are multiple other options to get through Voss without getting killed. Having good charisma, using intimidation, warlocks wizards and sorcerors have lower dc to resist the detect thoughts, so on and so forth
Alternatively, being a level 5 party with good teams comp and murdering the githyanki
Let me make a home and turn into a bar for my friends and it'll be the new fallout 4
Prais the Absolute!
