I love the nickname “doubting disorder”. It so accurately describes OCD. No matter what answer you give it, OCD keeps saying, “What if?” It just never stops.
Yea anytime I get that familiar doubt I jus label it ocd and continue on. The ick may stay for a few mins but I do not have the energy anymore! ERP is seriously life-changing.
Whenever OCD tells me «What if?» I have started replying with «So what?». It helps, although the imaginary worst case scenario might feel very scary at first, but eventually the fear starts fading…
Why you gave character to OCD ?. OCD is something we do with a thought. Its not an external being to say us something. Its just overreacting brain trying to save us from a danger. Only thing work for me is doing nothing. I stop wanting to control everything and my OCD has gone. It was not easy, too much hard work but doable guys. Just focus on your actions instead of thoughts and never seek %100 for anything. Only god knows something with %100 certainty. You wanna be god ? Its impossible.

Short and to the point. Very accurate statement. I'm like that. I seek reassurance then doubt and maybe misinterpret what was said/message etc
