- James Dalton was one of the toughest and skilled hookers to ever play for South Africa. He became the first choice hooker for the Springboks in 1995 after the retirement of the legendary Uli Schmidt.
Dalton was technically astute and brought physicality to a Springbok pack that dominated in the late 90's. He has one of the best win percentages of any Springbok.

Quite an interesting guy he liked confrontation that's for sure(1995 Canada) but his try in that legendary Tri nation match in 1998 was a good point for him.
Played against James, sometime in the late 80`s, when he got suspended for headbutting a player in a first team match between Athlone boys and Jeppy boys high. It even made front page news, because the students refused to go to class until he was venerated. Never forget in!
Headbutting when Jeppe played Athlone was a gold star on a monday not a suspension.

"struggling Crusaders" gee that's not a phrase you hear much, maybe never again.
How good was Honiball (excuse my kiwi spelling)so skillful and tough as, on his day no peer.
The Brits rave about Wilkinson, but a player is only as good as the threat he poses to the opposition, Larkham was deadly but always outside Gregan, DC either had a Black or red and black pack in front of him, Honibal could play outside anyone or behind whoever (although a Green and Gold pack is huge and fearless).
