Really enjoyed this convo. Good criticisms of DuckBricks and Faber here, though personally I think the 2020 Meso frustration over Faber's image teases at the time were super overblown. Maybe I'm just more detached than some BIONICLE fans, but it was incredibly obvious to me at the time that Faber was just inspiring creativity in the fans with the vague imagery of what a G3 could look like and if anyone thought he'd be directly announcing official hints to a real G3, I think those people were incredibly naive and forgetful of how little promotion Faber did for G2 until after official announcements. I find that whole tide of anger against Faber spurred by Meso to be a bit less justified than the situation here, where it seems like he just took a liking to a wealthy RUclipsr and they traded sensationalist favors with these leaks instead of dropping them for the BioMediaProject archivists. It's a weird disappointing situation.
Yeah I was semi casually paying attention to that back then. It was around the time i was in College so i wasn’t keeping track. I do think for those that weren’t paying attention it was a lot easier to mislead them into thinking it was something else i will say that. But Meso is best known for enabling Bionicle nihilistic dooming so i would not be surprised at all if he was fanning the flames to aid the backlash (intentionally or unintentionally).
Appreciate the discussion about the idea of "Leaders of the Bionicle community." I came across someone invoking that idea on the Bionicle reddit a few days ago, so I'm glad to know I'm not the only one annoyed by it. Everyone complaining about the "Bionicle leaders" needs to understand there's no election, no formal office, none of that. The 'prominent voices' (I think that's the term you use in this ep) are just people who happened to make content that was popular with those of us who are still left. Also, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but there actually are similar ideas in the Star Wars fandom about community leaders. The other day I saw some people suggesting that prominent Star Wars youtubers should form (you guessed it) a council for shaping how the fans discuss lore. From my experience, the desire to have some sort of leadership/hierarchy appears to be a relatively common phenomenon in fandoms.
@@thecaveofcreatures1728 sheep looking for a shepherd. those people can wish all they want but the truth is a group of 10ish youtubers can’t speak for a vast community with a variety of opinions especially since division is so prominent these days. if it’s so wanted then why doesn’t it already exist? i do believe there have been attempts in other fanbases but its never gone anywhere much like the current and past “council” for Bionicle 😂
Listened to this whole. I missed quality BIONICLE podcasts, most of pur fandom talking heads are so unlikable imho. Not chill, dusingenuine, you know. This felt like listening to mature straightforward acquaintances, not some pricks. Unbelievable how Duck screwed this opportunity up, and sad. I like and respect both folks, but my opinion of Christian soured when he pushed a giveaway that required people telling of their first BIONICLE, and hashtagging him. Dozens if not thousands of people participated, advertised his account, but he never gave away what he promised. He then said something about not being available to ship those sealed sets he promised, but I'm not buying this at all, and he never gave away anything else instead. Just got a free ad campaign from a bunch of folks.

The thing that im praying for is that Farber gonna sit together with the Community to complete the so called missing link between G1 And G2 . That and offically realese of the Makuta G2 Set or a G2 Vahi . In other things ,great Episode.
thanks for watching! in terms of the link between g1 and g2 that was determined by the g2 story team which faber was not apart of. they did reuse some ideas from faber’s original g2 pitch such as hinting at the g1 vahi’s existence.
