I love this Alice! Many textures, yet doesn't look too busy or overwhelming. Great work! I've been doing a botanical drawing challenge this month to practice different type of plant drawings and I am right there with you on loving the green. Normally its not one of my faves either.

When she said that gray is not a fun color and it’s boring, my felt my heart shatter a little bit. Gray is my absolute favorite color!!
Gray is one of my favorite colors as well. I adore it for clothing and for home decor. I just meant that if it was a one marker challenge with gray, it wouldn't' be very challenging because it's basically just a black and white image haha. I should have phrased it better!

even using one marker you still manage to make it look so pretty and pleasing and you incorporated so many techniques and that gave the whole drawing a lot of depth and life
HHAAA this piece turned out beautiful! I love how the background turned out and the succulents look beautiful. Just goes to show how versatile alcohol based markers are: you can do a lot with even just one colour. This definitely gave me some new ideas and reminded me of techniques I haven't used in a while. Thanks for making this video!
people who "police" these types of challenges are missing the entire point. the point of this challenge is to test your creativity, which is something that us artists should be doing all of the time !! no one wants a drawing w zero contrast/texture, which is mostly what'll happen if the artist does what most of those people are saying to do lmao

I don't think anyone is missing the point. If you call it challenge then your inviting people to critique. I'm all for being creative and challenging yourself, but don't make a video and call it a challenge when it's not.
yes testing your creativity within the bounderis of 1 marker without any outside changes to the marker color other than layers within this specific color. this is the point of 1 marker challenge, ofc mixing it with alcohol isnt cheating, its just missing the point of the challenge XD
plus u can alwyas be creative within the given rules, and if the artist is creative enough he can follow the rules and create something epic with texture and contrast. XD

Love this! I enjoyed how creative you got with the ONE marker and explaining the way you viewed it as if this was one of your few supplies and using what else you had. That is what true art is about!
I really like those w&n markers, the inks and colors are great, just as good as copic as far as shading and the colors are a little better, prismacolor markers have beautiful inks too
It turned out great and i love the group of succulents at the bottom! Very effective.

Fabulous. Just fabulous. What an absolutely delightful final product. I love how you have used such limited supplies to create light and shade as well as pattern texture.
You should do a one color challenge where say for example you pick pink then you can only use pink but you can use crayons, marker, oil pastel, e.t.c
Glamorous Girls like only one shade, or just one color? If the challenge was just one shade, it would be harder to match different mediums.

This is gorgeous, I know I'm late finding the rubbing alcohol trick out but I'm gonna get my promarkers out and try this! Loved the picture and loved how you used other mediums to accentuate!

Five years ago this came up on my recommended videos, it looked interesting so I watched it. I remember seeing this and thinking “wow this is so beautiful! I wonder if I could do this too” it’s now five years later and I love making art, I’m still not the best at it but this video is the reason I found my passion.

I do not comment on every "catchup" video but I learned the most from a painting class when we had to create a painting using one color or monochromatic was/is the term and I think you did a GREAT Job! and 1 marker is harder than 1 color!

Before i had markers i had tried the 3 color challenge with my colored pencils, a d i enjoyed it so much i did it twice! Then i saw this a d was like what? How?! And the way you handled the challenge was just remarkable, and imspiring! Looking forward to trying this challenge myself once i grow more accustomed to my new markers. :)

Since you really liked the rubbing alcohol you should do a challenge where you can only do that technique with any markers you want just a suggestion you don't have to do that but I think it would be cool to see

This is so creative! Most people would never think about the different ways you used one marker but still had so many different tints, tones, and shades!!
Hey, great work you just gained a new subscriber. Since you are using alcohol and are constantly attempting to create a darker shade with the one marker in certain areas, what type of paper did you use for this challenge and recommend in general for these type of markers or copic markers.

Wow this is amazing. I have recently aquired alcohol based markers (ohuhu) and ive also used the rubbing alcohol technique cuz i only have 40 colors. I want to do the one marker challenge so this is good advice.
TBH I never actually thought of using rubbing alcohol! It's a great idea, I'm totally gonna use that in one of my drawings...!

I’m glad you got green because it’s my favorite color and not many artists use green as a base color. I really liked the finished piece it had a vary soft feeling and really showed the depth green has most people don’t think of these shades when I tell them it’s my favorite color and it’s hard to explain I usually just say a baby leaf green I think I will just show them this video the next time I have to explain it.

8:00 me right now, thinking of buying markers for the first time to do quick value studies but... do i have to buy _all_ the greys and then _carry_ them all around or can i buy one light (or medium) one an darken (or lighten) it as needed, how dark _can_ one single marker get?

I really like the idea of using one marker as well as the alcohol. I kind of felling bad or lazy right now so your drawings really bring inspiration to me personally! And one last thing, can i ask what kind of white gel pen do you use because i'm having problems with finding the pen that i like which effective and work well with black markers.... Thank you for your video!!!
I'm a SUPER basic drawer I only use sketch paper, a mechanical/wooden pencil, an eraser, and a blending tool.

Thankyou! I figure the challenge is the "one marker" challenge, not the "one art supply" challenge! Plus, Baylee was the one that created the challenge, and she's also the one that used this technique in her Sharpie challenge and said she sees it as a medium - like water is to acrylic paint! So I'm going off her hahaha!
HulloAlice well, my dad back 50years ago had his art finals (for like France BAC, with are final exams of high school, and he forgot his pencils so he had to borrow some. A girl have him only ONE and it was pinkish (purpleish) and he got 18/20 by making different shades

It would've been a cool idea to transform those blotches from the rubbing alcohol into dandelions. It turned out super-awesome!! 💜
I think there are two ways to approach this and all art challenges: you either respect all the rules to a T in order to make it challenging and produce some mediocre art in most cases, or you bend the rules a little, if you really want to make the piece awesome.

Baylee didn't find out that rubbing alcohol could blend Sharpies FIRST. A lot of other people have used that technique for a long time. other than that the piece turned out great.
I had just never seen someone use it so that they were essentially using rubbing alcohol like paint! SUCH a cool idea! I just figured I would give credit to where I saw the idea, which was on her channel :) It's definitely a cool technique regardless, I really liked it! And thankyou so much!!! I myself have never done the one marker challenge and I have to say not bad Alice not bad at all. I love the rubbing alcohol trick. I myself use a colorless blender to transfer the ink and have the same effect.
