First video of yours that I have watched and am really impressed with the quality. The ability to shift the focus onto the train car as you were riding by was really cool. The crane scene was awesome and really captured how amazing the area you were traveling through really was. Haven’t been there yet but now I want to go! Well done.
Thank you very much, I appreciate it!
At the end of the month a friend and I are going to bike this over the course of 2 days. This video has got me really fired up.
That's awesome! You are going to love it.
God I love this trail, and this video. You've captured the essence perfectly. I live right next to the Landing Lane access and ride down to Princeton regularly. This is truly one of NJ's hidden gems!
It really is. I live nearby too and walk/ride the towpath any chance I can get.
Great video. Read your write up. Much respect for the stealth camping along that route!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed both of them!
Great footage, awesome vid !
Thank you!
Great bikepacking tour of the d&r!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful job! Well done and thanks!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Great footage!! I love this trail. I have only ridden the feeder canal so far.
Thanks! You should check out the rest of it it if you get the chance. Lots a great scenery to see.
@@MapsWithNoRoads Definitely! I want to ride from Philly to NY sometime and will be utilizing the D&R.
This would be a great video to show people who call NJ a Sh!thole state. Awesome adventure and thank you for sharing.
As someone who grew up outside of NJ, I agree. It's amazing how low-key beautiful this state is! Then again, I'm cool with keeping anyone who says that away.
@@MapsWithNoRoads It really is amazing! I have had a love hate relationship with this state most of my life, but I think a lot of it had to do with outsiders and what they thought. I have gotten over that the more I explore. You are right though if they don't like it, don't come here and find out different. Hahaha thanks again for sharing.
Thanks for the tour! Looks great
Thanks for watching!
Just moved to highland Park right by this trail. I used to ride the small 3.5 mile greenway in Woodbridge and I'm so stoked to finally have a long bike trail to explore! I'll be doing the same as you. Camera n drone in backpack time to explore! Awesome footage n nice edit 👍
Thank you! Enjoy exploring the trails!
@@MapsWithNoRoads so I finally got my new mtb and went on the d&r trail and I gotta say it was cool but I can tell the from the flooding it really messed up the trail it made it hard to pass on bike. Have you rode the trail since the flooding? Ii gotta say again this video was so well done! I have a dji spark we're you flying the mavic?
@@ianrice1778 They've fixed the trail now. I live in New Brunswick right next to the trail and go on it several times a week. Ida messed it up pretty bad, but they've done a great rehab on it!
I found your D&R canal video very informative as i plan to bike this route. Are you able to share how you accomplished the video recording and tools used for the woundful vediography.?? This wld be helpful for my journey memories.
Glad you enjoyed it! I used a camera called the "insta-360" to capture most of the shots. Its a camera that films in 360 degrees and then you edit the frame in post. Hope that helps!
Very impressive.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Just came across this trail while doing some online searching and then found your video and write up about it. Really informative and enjoyable!. If I wanted to do an out and back, how is the parking and can you safely leave a car for several nights? Thanks!
Hmm, great question. I was dropped off on the towpath just North of Frenchtown, and then took the train home from New Brunswick, so I didn't have to worry about leaving a car. I know a lot of spots along the canal don't allow overnight parking, so that might be tricky. However, you could probably park on the street in Frenchtown without a problem.
@@MapsWithNoRoads thanks. I would be driving from out of state, so am scouting out ahead of time.
Hi man, your trip was really amazing. You did a good job, nice images and video. Next month I gonna ride this way and your video will be a inspiration. I have a question about hosting. Did you stay in hotels or camp in the area?
Thank you! There was only one official campsite on the route at Bulls Island, but it was closed at the time. So I did some stealth camping in spots I thought no one would mind/notice. There's more details about it linked below if you are interested. Good luck!

@@MapsWithNoRoads after I wrote you I found the link to your diary and I like even more. Thanks again for sharing your experiences and congratulations for the job, really great.
How did you connect to the battle monument in Trenton from Washington crossing?
The D&R towpath actually goes right through the heart of Trenton before it turns north the Princeton.
I wonder if I can find hotels easily.
Are you using a insta360 or a gopro max?
I used a Insta360. It's a fun little camera. The ability to shoot everything and then frame later is actually what made me want to try video making on top of the blogging in the first place. You should check out my first video on climbing Cascade Mountain to see what I'm talking about. I just put in in my pack and let it do its thing.
Perfect! Can I post on my Channel citing you?
Absolutely!
@@MapsWithNoRoads Good afternoon and thanks for your kindness!
Di you camping on the road?
Not directly on the road. Had to find a few spots to stealth camp. There more info on this trip here if you are interested:

Are there very many good camping spots along the main canal?
Not really. There's Bull's Head Island, but that is very close to the start of the trail. I had to get creative with a couple of stealth camps to make it work. Here's the full writeup of the trip if you're interested:

@@MapsWithNoRoads Cool man, thank you very much!
