For this year's Christmas giving, my family got two presents from Santa - one was thrifted and the other "new." I found a beautiful doll bed for my granddaughter, a pair of crocheted gloves for my daughter-in-law, a lovely handmade bowl for my son and a Three Musketeers book with illustrations published in 1956 for my husband. I had so much fun shopping at thrift stores and our local swap meet. I will definitely do it again and for future birthdays.
I think it is wonderful to thrift a gift for someone. I wish I could do that with my people, but only a few I could do that with. Mainly because I just don't know what they like enough to thrift a gift. Many of my family are minamilists, and they hardly want anything at all.
Myself and my family all love buying secondhand. It's great for the environment, sometimes you can buy things that you ordinarily couldn't afford new, and you can find some really unique treasures.
I love the Scottie dog sweater. I had Scotties the whole time l was married. I know longer have a dog too hard to lose them. I have family but l don't speak to them . My sister turned them against me. I only buy for my male friend. I thrift for my self. .
You found a lot of great items! I love the Lisa Frank things. When I was a kid I had all of the Lisa Frank items...I love her talent and designs. I think the back packs were great too!❄⛄
I thrifted a few gifts this year. My new granddaughter was born 2 weeks ago and was already too big for her newborn clothes so I thrifted a bunch of clothes, swaddle blankets, and a swaddler for her. I also gave my niece an almost new cat tree for her fur babies. I gave my 8 year old a thrifted hoodie as well. Next year I want to have more items on hand so I can give more gifts to people. I have always given thrifted books to my students for birthdays and sometimes Christmas when I was a head start teacher. Now that I'm teaching k-4 STEM rotations it is harder to do (I have over 400 students!!) but I really want to be able to give them something for their birthdays so I'm working on that as well. Lol
These are amazing finds! My favorite was the glass mixer bowl. I would love thrifted gifts but try to be mindful of others that may not feel the same way although I have thrifted books for baby showers. Question. How do you disinfect items especially plushies?
You found some really lovely items. The necklace is gorgeous. I"ll gift vintage / obviously pre-loved to those who love that kind of thing. For others, I'll purchase things still in packaging or, if in great condition, pre-loved items that can be added to a collection. I shop clearance quite a bit too. I love finding online deals from resource rescue kind of places (businesses who'll save stuff from being dumped etc)
How do you wrap these up and present them as gifts? The items inside the boxes might be in excellent condition, but giving a box that's tattered somewhat screams USED to me, and I don't want that...
In my area there are numerous thrift stores, but what I've found is the quality is horrible. I have thrown things away in better condition then what's in these stores. And what junk they do have is way overpriced.
I really don't understand how these are personalized gifts, when u there are not every option available to you at a thrift store. To me, it seems that you are hunting through old and used items, I'm hopes to find something that's possibly nice. The only way I seeing this as a good gifting idea if you are looking for something specific for a person that you know they want, and could only be found at a second hand store. Just saying 🤷♀️
@@ThriftedLiving Just curious if the people you gifted knew they were to receive a thrifted or 2nd hand item? Im not opposed to it at all, but I think I would be taken aback if gifted some of this stuff without the understanding that my gift would be thrifted. Some things you can tell, like a sweater in excellent condition or those two Live, Love, Laugh things that were new in the box. But the games and puzzles were obviously older and used. Again, Im not opposed to it if Im aware. What gifts did you receive in return? Id love to hear!

You can really tell how much thought went into every gift. Thank you for championing for thriftmas! From one thrifter to another

I thrifted from my own store of things. I have to downsize prior to a move to a retirement facility. So everyone is getting something very special!

These are personalized because I took time to think about what items people might want and searched for those items specifically.

@@ThriftedLiving Thats awesome!
I mean I do love thrifting but for Christmas just buy a new gift I wouldn’t want someone’s used stuff as a gift. Just my opinion!!!
I love thrifting gifts!
@@ThriftedLivingMe too. I practice gratitude.
