Hi, guys! I was supposed to play subscribers’ pieces in this week. But, I think that I have to wait for more pieces from subscribers. In addition, until now, I have not come up with content for it. So, I had to play another piece “Nocturne Op. 55 No. 1. Typically, Nocturnes are really hard to play well. I hope that you guys can enjoy this piece. Thank you so much for your support!

For people which want to know this piece, I attached editor’s comments here. [A: 0s, B: 3min 3s, C: 4min 9s, D: 4min 26s][The chief subject A-B is bipartite and betrays a gloomy, melancholy mood. We may be permitted to represent to ourselves in fancy a wanderer, who goes his way solitary and sad, after taking leave of his beloved home and all his dear ones. The secondary subject is also bipartite. Its first part “B is March-like in character, as if the wanderer had resolved henceforth to go on more courageously. The second part “C grows steadily more passionate and excited. At C begins a fragment of the chief subject, but after a few measures it passes over into a closing part D, in which the base for a while retains its old motive, though accelerated in pace, and abandons it only when it no longer seems able to follow the right hand as it hurries ever more lightly and swiftly away. The last measures sound like; “Thank God - the goal is reached.”

I feel like this piece is for someone who got rejected from somene or something, and part A is the person walking down the street with their head down, kicking garbage and stones as they walk. Part B is the anger as they realise what could have been, sparking panic and inability to think clearly. Part C is a resolution, where in the end they realise that not all is lost and life will go on.

Chopin’s music is like a waterfall with those trills, jumps, and fast arpeggios.
Chopin can incorporate Melancholy, Joy, and Grace.
By all composers, Chopin is my favorite not because of how challenging it is to play his works, but
The emotions Chopin can incorporate into each of his works.
Chopin adds that sense of style and finesse while maintaining that specific feeling.

I'm studying this piece currently and this is my favorite interpretation of it. I usually listen to a dozen different versions of something I'm studying to soak it in and get a a reference. This is very subjective when we talk about top pianists. But in this nocturne it's astonishing to me how better Kassia's performance is compared to famous concert pianists interpretations I listened to. Makes me rethink this stupid bias people have (including me) which is to be predisposed to admire big names and see their rendition of a piece as canonical.

God I LOVE this song. It’s weird how it always follows me one way or another. I suddenly get a rush of melancholy every time it plays. It sticks with me endlessly playing in my mind. Rick and Morty is one of my all time fave shows and then when Blonde Redhead song plays for evil Morty I froze…knowing I knew the song, driving me mad wondering how I knew the melody. Then some digging I finally knew why. Then Interview With The Vampire s1 e3… I freeze, tear up, just engulfed in a melancholic trance….just weeping. Clenching my chest. Feeling the pain just by those hauntingly beautiful notes. A state of bittersweet sadness and bliss. You have to be a philistine not to feel this song. Not to embrace its beauty. Its sadness.
