I recognized the Water Wraith's cave the instant I saw a cave entrance submerged in water. For me, "only blues allowed" is a HUGE wraith-shaped red flag
i was on the second floor and was like, "huh this music sounds like...." then realized the layout of the floor. Quickly went to recheck olimar's note and saw the rollers in the image (i was skipping over the notes and reading them after) and was like "ah, im in danger"
something i dont see people talk about is the music of engulfed castle, i love that the theme doesnt start right away, and slowly starts to sink in as the water wraith gets closer and closer to spawning
Especially since they made squad movement stupid in this game. You basically NEED oachi so you don't go insane just trying to move around a map. They made other pikmin controlling aspects even worse than original pikmin 1 too. Like, they're more unresponsive, give up carrying an object even if there's room cuz they get stuck behind the object, have unpredictable interaction distances or statuses to interact, etc. 4 is beautiful and I love it. It's a close call but I still think 2 is my favorite. It's just perfect in every way. And, it has amazing mods like 251 and colossal caverns, which is infinite pikmin content
I lost some pikmins when trying to evade enemies because of the controlling@@Subreon. I miss to be able to move them using something like the C stick but at least you can move the camera easily
One cool thing about the Engulfed Castle is that it starts with regular cave music, but the Submerged Castle theme slowly fades in as the Water Wraith gets closer.
@@alexursu4403 here's the thing though. Emile had to work around 2's gacha mechanic, which isn't a factor this time, so he won't have to go out of his way for a bunch of random stuff later on, which means the playthrough will likely be more streamlined.
The moment I saw the name of the cave and the image, my Pikmin 2 anxiety kicked in. It got substantially worse the deeper I went into the cave especially seeing the pipe floor. Thankfully my dandori was good enough that I managed to get through the whole cave without seeing it until the end. This was probably the 3rd to last cave I tackled in Area 3 so I ended up getting Purples from the other caves in the area beforehand.
The only thing i dislike about this is that you can see the rollers on the image when first interacting with the entrance. If it was just olimar's message, a random image of the cave and the name the PTSD would hit so much harder upon hearing the music and seeing the waterwraith drop
i never played pikmin 2 but with the reputation the water wraith had for itself, lead to me having a small panic when i saw the rollers in the cave's log picture yet somehow despite me taking long enough for it to spawn on every single floor because i refused to move on without 100%ing everything, the only pikmin deaths i got in the whole cave were to a dwarf bulborb who got lucky while i was distracted trying to dodge the wraith would probably have been a lot worse though if it weren't for oatchi being able to carry your whole squad in a much smaller space
its a lot simpler in 4 than 2. He’s less aggressive in the levels - I think they set it up like that because you have fire/poison enemies with only blue pikmin so the wraith is meant to spawn to kill them
I JUST BEAT PIKMIN4 yesterday it’s definitely the best I’m a fellow pikmin veteran been playing this series my whole bacc when we had no idea there was gonna be a countinuation I can’t wait for pikmin. 5

Don't you just love the untoggleable Autolock feature that both makes certain enemies a joke you can No-Brain them and makes fighting others a pain in the rear because it can lock onto things you don't want it to?
Submerged castle was TERRIFYING, probably because the pikmin get stuck everywhere and the water wraith was a lot smarter. Now he’s just a wonky guy and the pikmin know how to turn corners (for the most part)😻
People forget we had the almighty swarming input in 1 and 2. Drive the swarm like you would when rushing a sleeping bulborb’s rear and you’ll be just fine. Now it’s an endgame tool in 4 and it’s harder to use because you have to hold the camera input. Oof.
I think its been well over a decade since I played Pikmin 2 so I completely forgot that they had a cavern where you started off handicap (not being able to use the pikmin you needed to) it was only when the wraith appeared that my PTSD kicked in and remembered you get the purple variety at the end of the cavern . This was also the cavern where I lost the most pikmin so far 30 to a suicide bomber which I also forgot was a thing
i was screaming at my screen to use oatchi's charge to attach all of the blue pikmin onto enemies, especially when he was throwing blue pikmin onto the mushroom chrysanthemum one by one
Engulfed castle is sooo easy. You can just have oatchi take care of all the elemental stuff, and he can easily outrun the water wraith, if you even see him. Also, no Bulbmin.
The Waterwraith managed to get stuck in the corner between the rebar archand the entrance to the next level for me on Sublevel 4. Was constantly afraid it was going to break free, but it never did.
There are so many good callbacks in this game, primarily based around reworking stuff from the first game. Seeing how purples were reserved until the water wraith cave was a big win as well. Still, he is rather slow isn't he? I don't think it would be a stretch to speed up the meme ghost a bit, that or you may as well send him down from the get-go and remove his tracking so he doesn't just camp an apple after everything in the floor is dead.
oatchi does make this a lot easier, unsure if they extended the timer or if my panic made me never encounter him until the fight, this olimar log and the (kind of a joke) night time smoky prog are 2 things that made me feel genuine fear in 4 when I saw they were back for the first time the auto lock is screwing up because you have motion controls on also not buying shop upgrades?
my first reaction seeing flintstones flubber - oh god no not this guy! But in the end I kinda liked the cave. I hated it in Pikmin 2 but in this they push you with blue pikmin and straight away you have fire creatures. you need fred flubberstone to help you defeat the creatures to complete the levels. Yes he’s still a threat but fairly mild compared to the original

i like to collect everything in a cave, evne corpeses and materals (cus i was always upgrading) and when i got caght half way through level 4 by the wrathe i let the pikmin in a safe spot while i had oatchi collect everything else, becasue the wraithe cant one shot him and he keeps carriing whatever he picks up after he gets hurt
What I don't understand is that I've seen so many pikmin veterans and newcomers playing this cave but almost NOBODY uses glow seeds to have glow pikmins, like, even in the original submerged castle you were given up to 40 bulbmins to deal with the elemental hazards, people should pop 20/30 glow pikmins.
Wasn't expecting water wraith when I played. I was trying to skip through sublevels because I knew if I could get to the other side I'd be able to bring different pikmin. Went to get the castaway and halfway to the ship the demon spawned. Never left a cave so fast.
My first encounter was horrifying but easy as long as you can get all the treasures furthers to him and than drag him away from the other treasures and it becomes really easy
I had the same exact experience on lvl 4 lol. I actually ended up getting it stuck by the entrance to the next floor, so that made it easy to collect all the treasure.
Sadly the cave telegraphs his presence a little too much. For me the biggest give away was the preview of the first floor with the fiery Bulblax near the water. (Having to kill it with only blues in pikmin 2 is a very memorable experience, the entire submerged castle is a very memorable experience)
When I kinda saw the leeks and saw that the waterwrath is coming back I just what until Pikmin 4 was out and got to that cave I just speed ran getting everything until floor 4 wend I saw it I got everything on the floor and got to the final level and kill waterwrath my heart was pounding
If you enter the exit it allows you to use or bring in any color however if you 100% and have the purple onion the cave is useless. If you don't have the onion you can speed run to get purples at the bottom
I didn’t even know the water wraith could spawn in on other floors, I beat the castle not seeing it til the showdown. I was slightly disappointed cuz I thought they just didn’t commit to the whole thing
I wish you couldn’t use oatchi in the submerged castle (water wraith) or the ultimate testing range (man at legs) bc it made it too easy (and less effective ultra spicy spray bc winged pikmin defeated the man at legs really quickly with ultra spicy)
Ikr. They even made the breadbugs less annoying because you can dig up the things they took! I honestly still haven’t killed the giant breadbug because I want that to be the last thing I do in the game.
Ive 100% completed this game. Ive never played pikmin 2 and let me tell you the ANXIETY i had in this cave was insane. ENDGAME spoilers: Although when having to beat it again further in the game when you have to option for purple pikmin its weak sauce. In the finale it was honestly the easiest floor and there was two of em.
I finally beat pikmin 4 so now I can actually respond to this lol, yeah I got a little scared when they first appeared in the last cave, then I remember I had 50 purples on hand
I didn’t find this cave, so my first encounter with Mr. Steamroller was in the final cave. Before then I saw the signs, I heard about engulfed castle being here, but was like “Naw, they wouldn’t bring him back.” Then I got to floor 16, saw the narrow corridors that haunted the original, and my heart sank. I about had a panic attack, when the second one, that I didn’t hear, flanked my rear as I beat the first one.
@@EricTheChampion5393in that floot i got everyone on Oatchi and stood in a corner of the room you land in, and then waited for them to come to me so i could obliterate them with 30 purples. Part of why the Waterwraith is so much worse in 2 is that you actually have to deal with purples being slow, in 4 you can just ride Oatchi and not worry about slow pikmin or the consequences of having a large squad that's easy to hit.
i love how we got the og 3 (red, yellow, and blue) the og 2 (purple and white) the last 2 (pink/winged and grey/rock) and the new 2 (ice/cyan and glow/green) so we have 9 different pikmin not counting the 2 dogs (oatchi and moss) which can semi be counted as pikmin having the leaf tail and the leaflings that you save

You'd find combat much, *much* easier if you used Oatchi's rush instead of throwing pikmin. It is actually stupidly broken.

Sadly the cave telegraphs his presence a little too much. For me the biggest give away was the preview of the first floor with the fiery Bulblax near the water. (Having to kill it with only blues in pikmin 2 is a very memorable experience, the entire submerged castle is a very memorable experience)
I was able to beat the cave without seeing the water wraith untill the boss fight. I don’t know how I did it but I am NOT complaining!!
I feel having oatchi help carry some of tge treasure would be a big help
When I kinda saw the leeks and saw that the waterwrath is coming back I just what until Pikmin 4 was out and got to that cave I just speed ran getting everything until floor 4 wend I saw it I got everything on the floor and got to the final level and kill waterwrath my heart was pounding
this version of the engulfed castle being the last cave most people do and it is extremely nerfed from its original version its kinda sad
If you enter the exit it allows you to use or bring in any color however if you 100% and have the purple onion the cave is useless. If you don't have the onion you can speed run to get purples at the bottom
You don't even need to speed run. You can skip straight to the final level and get to the purple candypop
I didn’t even know the water wraith could spawn in on other floors, I beat the castle not seeing it til the showdown. I was slightly disappointed cuz I thought they just didn’t commit to the whole thing

I wish you couldn’t use oatchi in the submerged castle (water wraith) or the ultimate testing range (man at legs) bc it made it too easy (and less effective ultra spicy spray bc winged pikmin defeated the man at legs really quickly with ultra spicy)
There is a dandory trial with 2 water wraith that spawn at start of trial u have to complete in 5 minutes

Ive 100% completed this game. Ive never played pikmin 2 and let me tell you the ANXIETY i had in this cave was insane.
ENDGAME spoilers:
Although when having to beat it again further in the game when you have to option for purple pikmin its weak sauce. In the finale it was honestly the easiest floor and there was two of em.
I finally beat pikmin 4 so now I can actually respond to this lol, yeah I got a little scared when they first appeared in the last cave, then I remember I had 50 purples on hand
I didn’t find this cave, so my first encounter with Mr. Steamroller was in the final cave. Before then I saw the signs, I heard about engulfed castle being here, but was like “Naw, they wouldn’t bring him back.” Then I got to floor 16, saw the narrow corridors that haunted the original, and my heart sank. I about had a panic attack, when the second one, that I didn’t hear, flanked my rear as I beat the first one.
@@EricTheChampion5393in that floot i got everyone on Oatchi and stood in a corner of the room you land in, and then waited for them to come to me so i could obliterate them with 30 purples.
Part of why the Waterwraith is so much worse in 2 is that you actually have to deal with purples being slow, in 4 you can just ride Oatchi and not worry about slow pikmin or the consequences of having a large squad that's easy to hit.

i love how we got the og 3 (red, yellow, and blue) the og 2 (purple and white) the last 2 (pink/winged and grey/rock) and the new 2 (ice/cyan and glow/green) so we have 9 different pikmin not counting the 2 dogs (oatchi and moss) which can semi be counted as pikmin having the leaf tail and the leaflings that you save
I have a question if you beat the boss and the cave is not at 100% the water wath come back un normal levels
