I got this one at release, and me and a friend played through the grand campaign up until dec 44 (then covid shut us down). It is quite an interesting setup, with basically three distinct fronts at the start of the game. In the north, the Soviets are trying to hammer through the mountain passes of the Carpathians. In the east, it's more of a skirmish game, where the Germans are trying to make an orderly retreat before huge but slow moving Soviet forces roll onto the battlefield. And on the Romanian-Hungarian border, the Soviets easily smash through the axis defenses, but are then hampered by huge logistical problems. It all then culminates with the endgame in and around Budapest. Before this one, I have tried Reluctant Enemies and Sicily. And I think Hungarian Rhapsody is the most interesting of the three. But also the most time consuming.
I'd be interested to hear what you think of this one. How would you place this among other OCS titles? I should read the game specific rules. Hmm. Late war OCS, hmm?
