    I almost brought this one but went with the TR profile rig instead. Boy I’m glad I did. The versatility with a profile rig is almost endless. You can side mount your shifter. You should of got some small T nuts with the shifter. Just make your self a bracket out of some alloy angle from Bunnings.
    Thanks for sharing

    Really great review. I own this exact cockpit and agree with everything you've said (apart from the stuff on the shifter and handbrake mount which I don't use so I can't really comment). I exclusively drive open wheel, prototype and GT cars using a Fanatec CSW v2.5 and CSL Elite pedals with load cell brake. I have really enjoyed using this rig. As mentioned in the review, it handles the styles of cars I'm into driving extremely well and it looks fantastic as well. It's a really sleek looking cockpit. I also reckon the seat is very comfortable for my 6ft 84kg body size. The main negative for me is also the castor wheels - they definitely do the job in allowing you to move the rig round but the locking mechanisms are crap, basically. Once you're seated in the cockpit it's not an issue but it's sometimes a bit too easy to move the rig when hopping in and out. I'm wondering whether I look into some third party options for this or perhaps Trak Racer will release some better ones and offer existing customers a discount. Overall though, the rig is great and I'd definitely buy it again if I had my time over. 8/10 for me as well.

    I don't know the configuration parameters of the DD1 used in this review but if your intention is to use 100% of the dynamic range of your DD base (podium / SC2) keep in mind that you are going to suffer a lot of flex in the cockpit.
    The same flex is going to occur in the pedal platform if you intend to use high brake forces. The pedal platform is going to flex no matter what.
    If your intention is to have no flex in your cockpit, go for an aluminum profile model or similar.
    I had to learn it the hard way.
    Aesthetically the TR8 is very nice, it is just not suitable for high performance equipment.
    I hope they can fix all the structural problems in future versions.
    Best,
    Miguel

    • @joshuahahn1996
      @joshuahahn1996 3 года назад +1

      @@marczamp4737 Can only speak for EU pricing, but the RS6 is more expensive than the Simlabs GT2 already, the TR8 is a bit cheaper than Simlabs P1X (their top spec 8020 rig). And simlabs is already a bit more expensive than building it yourself (paid 400ish€ for a rig with monitor mount without having to cut profiles myself).
      Might change depending on region (considering they are from Australia), but price is their only selling point depending on region.

    As much as I like your channel your review is far from complete. Have a look at sim racing garage. I would like to see more about the flex and other issues addressed in this specific rig. Your camera is only pointed to your face and shows a game not the rig itself. I don’t want to see the game or your face I want to see the rig.
    Can’t you make a small clip showing the pedals? So we know it still flexes? Can’t you make a larger video of the movement of the dd?
    Thank you

    • @LukeVesty
      @LukeVesty 2 года назад +1

      I own this rig and use CSL Elite pedals with a load cell brake and a CSW v2.5 wheel base. Yes, the pedal plate flexes under very hard braking perhaps 5 degrees or so. It does. But honestly unless you're actively looking at the pedal plate while braking you just don't notice it while driving. And this is coming from a finicky stickler for details. Honestly it just doesn't affect the driving experience. As for the wheel base there's zero flex in my experience (again, using a CSW v2.5 which will be comparable to a CSL DD for max torque). If you want absolute rigidity just get an 8020 profile rig but be prepared for the assembly journey and the more industrial aesthetics. Many will prefer this and that's fine. But if the burning question is: is there noticeable flex that affects the driving experience my answer would be a resounding no.

      @JonJon-dk3nh 3 года назад +1

      @@MRSPORTYTRUCKER Yep no flex on mine with a Fanatec DD and the Simetik DD mount either. The only downsides I can think of is if you buy a Simetik K2 + all the mounts - shifter mount, tablet mount, monitor mount and maybe handbrake mount and keyboard mount it ends up at a similar price as a 80 20 rig. Also I'm not sure if a Quaife Pro Sim H shifter will bolt to it whereas on a 80 20 it will. I want that shifter!
