@@cammackey thanks so much, brother. This means the world 🙏
In my opinion, you two are the two best on RUclips. Thank you, guys, for your work and effort to motivate people all around the word
@@Kleslye2 ah, man. thanks so much!
Beautiful work friend! I was watching the part where you said you hated gear and in contrast, seeing that lark m2 makes me believe that you appreciate gear that makes life easier, but who doesn't? Fantastic job brotha!
@@rapbisnar hey, thanks bro! Haha, yeah, I'm being a little tongue in cheek. I absolutely love the results that gear affords. I just hate when gear complicates things. The heft, the dying batteries, the clutter etc. My dream is to have a crew handle all the gear, me with nothing but a little director's monitor
@@ScottJeschke I hear you! A crew is the answer. You know what they say, you wanna go fast, go alone, you wanna go far, go together. Looking forward to watching your other videos brotha, have a good one 🔥
@@rapbisnar Ive never heard that quote, but that's a great one! Thanks so much, man . Appreciate you watching and commenting
This is great inspiration for a beginner like me. Just a question, do you feel like the cool light from the door window with the blinds is taking away from the warm sunlight thing you are going for? Would it help realism with another warm light hitting that from outside?
@@skyscraperphilosopher8476 thanks! Yeah, if I had more lights, I would do something about that. Didn't have enough. There were powerful though. My thinking is that sometimes there's a general cool ambiance in either the afternoon or morning, but certain spots get a streak of harder warm light. So that spot outside could have a bush behind it for instance. I know I'm making excuses a little, but my rationale is that it's possible for it to look this way depending on what's actually going on outside. But yeah, ideally I'd have another big bright light there
@@ScottJeschke thanks. I got some pretty bright 2k tungsten lights, but only relatively weak LEDs (Nanlite 200) so this is a perfect scene for me to take advantage of those tungsten lights. Question is if I should buy a gel to bring the tungsten to 2700 k for that extra color contrast... Would you have bothered with that or just keep them 3200K along the daylight LEDs?
@@skyscraperphilosopher8476 I don't think you would need to CTO them. Could always just warm up the camera, and cool off the fill light to compensate
@@ScottJeschke Agree. I guess it would be better to get all the output of the tungsten and rather gel the LED fill lights if necessary. Thanks for taking time to reply
Love this format.
I thought I was the only one constantly wandering around the house, turning the light in different directions, only making it worse each time. Shows real suffering of cinematographers.
haha, happens to the best of us! Thanks!
Dang! Commercial was so good I tried to skip it. Nice job man.
@@matt.gillispie haha, thanks man!
Very professional cinematography/color grading, always learning from you! What lens did you use?
Thanks so much! So glad to hear. I used just a Rokinon 35mm F1.8. love that focal length
He deserves more than a million subscribers ❤❤❤ if you agree with me like my comments

I know. I’m sorry. I couldn’t resist.
@@cammackey bahaha oh nooo 😂. I walked right into that one
I just stumbled upon your video Scott, and let me say you’re quality is amazing! I’m learning more about filmmaking and lighting scenes and you explained everything clearly for me to understand.. earned a sub🔥👏🏾btw.. what’s the motorized slider you are using for the "hero" shot🤔
@@kidd0x2 hey! Thank you so much for these kind words. It's a neewer slider

Ive never said this before to a man on youtube except for Lewis Plots, but you're the second, I LOVE YOU. SUBBED. Easiest sub ever.
@@goodgamingcompany1117 haha! Thank you so much. Lewis Potts is great company to be in 🙏❤️😎 thanks for the sub, and welcome to the channel
What’s your A cam? I use the same series lights and gear, but do RUclips with my iPhone. Making the jump to camera and love this look!
@@dymonmein thanks! Sony FX3 for A, FX30 for B. Custom film emulation LUT for look
Your videos have taught me and inspired me to rethink my approach when on set and I’ve seen a huge increase in my quality! Thank you for all the effort you put into these videos!
Ah, man. That's so awesome to hear 🙏 thanks for this kind feedback. Glad you're learning and growing from this stuff
Am i crazy or did you shoot some shots with anamorphic lens or anamorphic adapter? Or it barrel distorion made in davinci?
No anamorphic :) some 16mm wide angle shots though
Amazing work 👌🏽 may I ask what motorized slider you used? 😅
@@buck2rite1 thanks so much! It's a neewer one

Hey Scott! Thank you so much for your videos! I'm starting my channel over to be more like yours! What an amazing visuals you bring!
And man, for one of the key points to make better videos, can you help me with a question about haze? The device you used to haze the ambient, is it a simple smoke maker or is it a specific hazer? Do you think I could use a smoke machine to do the same? And what liquid do you use and where do you buy it?
Thank you so much!!
Hey, thanks so much! It's a ulanzi handheld smoke machine. I think it's not haze actually, but smoke. More like a mini smoke machine.. or a vape to be honest. Smoke machine will have the same effect. Just louder and takes longer. Haze machines look the best but are more expensive and not as quick.
great job. and i don’t know if you've heard of setalight though i think you might like it.
@@jehfbfjwe5933 Thanks so much! I had not heard of it. Looks really cool though. Will check it out. Thanks for the recc!

@@welchworks ah, thank you so much 🙏 means a lot
Are We getting a color grading tutorials?
@@danielamao_ I should do some color tutorials at some point! This one would be a bit boring though. Mostly Just my LUT w minor tweaks to contrast :) most of the heavy lifting done in camera
@@ScottJeschke Ahaha, I would really love to watch one. I've always been drawn to your videos, especially because of your lighting and color grading-emphasis on the color grading. Beautiful work, by the way!
@@danielamao_ thank you so much, man! That is great to hear. trying to release my LUT soon! Just haven't had the time to package it properly yet. Hopefully in the next month because I know a lot of folks are eager to use it. It def does a lot of the heavy lifting
I just wanted to ask this after a few of your other videos before I smash all my gear to pieces, as I don’t get anything close to it. :) It would be highly appreciated if you could give some guidance on that, too. Great content. I love it all.

@@framesetapp thanks friends! Used frame set to storyboard this one :)
I liked the near live approach to the setup! I've been really liking the "chiller" style videos overall with RUclips lately.
@@-austinsmith thanks, man! Yeah, they seem to be doing better w audiences. I think the over heightened/edited videos kind of had a bad sugar crash in the past few months. And I'm okay w that.. less work ha
👏👏👏
Thank you for taking the time out to do this.
@@lildrej my pleasure! Thanks for watching
If I understand your intentions correctly, it would have been nice if you could've put some CTO on the door window. Loved seeing all the thought you put into lighting the scene. Looked great.
Also, you totally missed the opportunity to say, "Where this light really shines..."
Had to look up the quote though, and now I want to watch E.T. again.
@@chris_sparrows yeah, CTO on the door would've been nice. Alas, I didn't have any. I'm gonna BS and pretend there's something like a patio umbrella blocking the hard direct son, and casting blue Shadow light into the house ;)
Ha The number of times that pun comes up in these reviews 😂
Love this video! thank you for bringing us such amazing work!
Thank you, Tammy! You're so welcome :)
