Absolutely love you. You're just so not who you think a quilter would be. This is not meant to sound racist or however you want to take it, in today's world. But you wouldn't think a black, male, Marine, would be a quilter. I ♥❤❤❤ your quilts. Always watch your vlogs, more than once, alot of times. It is so true what you say about scrappy quilts and so much fun to do and create. Keep up the awesome quilts and content you put out.
Sir! The algorithm Gods sent this vid to me today for a REASON. New subscriber and new quilter at 60 yrs old. Love your attitude. Thank you for your service and for touching our hearts.
My wife and I live full time in a tiny RV. We have fallen in love with the quilting world. A couple of our subscribers have recommended that we follow your channel. We are so happy that they pointed us your way. :) This channel is exactly what I have been looking for. :)
I am an Army vet with PTSD as well and I couldn't agree more with the patience and focus and peace that quilting brings. Especially when you need that break. Thank you so much for creating and reaching out to all the vets who need something in their lives to bring peace. I love that I can focus and not have to follow rules, even when working a pattern, yet I end up with something to show for it. Thank you again, keep quilting.
“ no traffic lights, do it your own way” LOVE IT! Thank you for your service, and keep on quilting sir! It’s fantastic therapy, for anyone who has suffered any type of trauma. Do it your own way!
I HAVE BEEN QUILTING SINCE I WAS 5 YRS OLD, MY MOTHER SEWED AND MADE QUILTS. I LOVE MAKING SCRAPPY AND CRUMB QUILTS. I AM GLAD TO SEE YOU MAKING QUILTS IT WARMS MY HEART. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
You are the man!!! Love to see your passion over that scrap bin. Love love love your videos and your messages. Thanks for your service, thanks for the videos, and thanks for making it ok to need help or just find a friend that gets YOU! So many veterans need to hear your message. Prayers and hugs to you for inner peace on the days it’s not so easy. Your outlook and positive attitude is soooo needed in this crazy world. 🤗🙏🤗🙏
I am so happy that I found you online. I am a 100% service-connected, disabled veteran due to trauma that happened while I was in the Air Force. I still have therapy once a week, but I have started to learn how to quilt and it is a very good form of therapy for me. Thank you for your service and thank you for sharing your talent!
I am married to a 30-year Marine, and I love it that you are able to find your happy place while quilting. Though I have never served, I, too, find peace while quilting and I am going to try your no-rule method of using scraps. Thank you for your service.
I COULDN'T AGREE MORE!!! Whenever I'm in my sewing/craft room stitching away, there's just nothing more satisfying and comforting. It really relaxes and is a great way to veg, listen to music, and be constructive. My room is my happy place! And here I thought is was just me. LOL! It's wonderful to be able to do your own thing, "make your own rules", and enjoy your alone time. I could stay in my sewing room from morning 'til night, no problem. And with the window open and cool breeze blowing in, it's that much more enjoyable. Thanks so much for sharing this video! Thanks for your service to our country!
Just found you and your quilting today. I am so happy I did. I never knew about this scrappy quilting until today. Im 87, be sewing since grade school, and was married to a Marine. Semper Fi. Lost him now and the sorrow is deep. My love of sewing is my bridge to peace and mindfulness. All these years I threw away my scraps or I would have a mountain of them. :} Well for the next 80+ years I am going to save them and make beautiful things. Thank you.
Thank you for your service to our country. My husband was a vet and now that he has passed, I need something to do. I have sewed for a long time but just needed some inspiration to get started again. Just seeing what you have done has inspired me. I think a quilt with these pieces would be wonderful and would stop being wasteful. Thank you for helping me to see that I can still do something without my husband being with me. As he would say Semper FI Brother.
Thank you for your service. I'm a Navy submarine spouse and I sew because it's therapeutic. You are so inspiring & your scrappy blocks are amazing. Thanks again!
Love it. As a lifetime crocheted, and a beginner quilter, you amaze me. I was diagnosed with PTSD five years ago, and my psychiatrist suggested I try new crafts, or watch other people craft on RUclips. When I have a panic attack or nightmare, I watch one of your videos with no sound, captions on. It helps. It gives something to think about, a new thing 3try the next time I'm doing good. I made a quilt using this video.
I had to retire early due to ill health from a 30 year plus career of being a registered nurse. Quilting / sewing even hand sewing and crochet have really saved me and given me purpose. I’m so pleased that quilting helps you with your PTSD. I love scrappy quilts. ❤️❤️
Dude, first of all, thank you so much for your service! My step father was a marine, in Vietnam, so I understand the things you still deal with... he found model building. And kept up his sniper skills with a pellet rifle which he used on the moles that kept tearing up the lawn. He even shot a raccoon (that was trying to climb down the chimney) through the eye and killed it with that gun! I really hope you never need that sidearm again... And I'm so glad you found quilting to get you out of your tough spots! Keep up the good work!
"Scrappy Quilters Know!" Love, love, love that! You need to make a quilt with that saying on it. It would be fabulous. This video had me smiling all the way through. Thank you!
I'm a veteran, I served in the Navy. I started quilting years ago, but took some classes several years ago and I just love it. I love scrappy quilts became of all the color and the fun surprises you can get. Enjoy quilting and thank you for your service.
It feels sooo good to see a man join us women in the quilting world! My husband served in the Army and my uncle was in the Marines, they served in Vietnam. Thank you for your service and God bless you.
Fellow No LOAD Marine checking in. SFMF. 30+ quilts done since 2008. Nothing better in the world than just cutting and sewing frantic while listening to a podcast, or a TV show.
Thank you for your service. I love using all my scraps. I made 4 quilts out of my brother's clothing for His Wife, Daughter, Mother-n-Law and a pillow for another brother. My Brother Mark was a Marine. He died 3 years ago. I still have scraps that I will make myself something to remember him. Keep quilting.
For some reason scraps are my favorites. theres something about the effort to not let any waste get by. Even the loneliest of fabric pieces can brighten a quilt and someones day. Don't tell my wife I was a little tender there lol
I'm so glad I came across your channel. I've been feeling really overwhelmed and creatively stuck, but now I feel so inspired again. Thank you so much! It's great to see a Marine who quilts and sews. :-) I struggle with severe anxiety and depression and find that sewing really helps me. I live in the United Kingdom but born in South Africa. :-)
Love the sound of a vintage singer sewing machine. They have the counterbalance wheel and it is a soothing sound, especially treadle. Soothes the soul. ☺
Liz, sad to hear about your dad but glad quilting rescued you like it did me. It keeps me sane. Tell your husband Semper Fi and thank you so much for watching. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Quilting is great tool to have in your belt. You are so right! Depending on what pattern or NO PATTERN at all, quilting/sewing can quiet the mind as well as give you tie to think. Using up all those scraps to make blocks or just repurpose them into a large piece of fabric is really mindless sewing and can really be just what we need some days! I have to agree with you that the scrappy quilts have so much more personality & are super fun to make. To keep scraps manageable, because we all know they can get a bit overwhelming if we let them pile up, simply make it a point to spend a day or two each month to sew scrappy blocks & make your own "layer cake bundles". Love your tutorials! Keep them coming . . .
I love scrappy I used lots to make many thing. Just like teddy bear. Doll clothes. Make up bag. Pot holder or hot pad etc... Also my son was planning joined the Marine next yr when he turn 18.. Thank you for your service.. God bless you❤☺
Love this and your reasons are so dang true. Quilting is most definitely my therapy. I very often recommend quilting for therapeutic reasons to people of all ages and genders. When they tell me quilting is for girls / women you are the first male quilter’s name right out of my mouth. Love & support you. Thank you for your channel and encouragement. REally Big HUgs ! ! ! ! 💞
yes!! this is exactly what ive been looking for! all the other scrape quilt videos look so neat and perfect. I use to sew everything by hand using fabric from old clothes and blankets. I lovely old lady donated a bunch of old fabric scrapes for me to use with my first ever sewing machine so i can make quilts for the homeless. I can't wait to utilize every little scrap!
Can't believe how much we have in common. I have the same machine and I love crazy, scrappy quilts. I thank you for teaching me how to use the walking foot, I'm making crazy quilt Christmas stocking for family members and the walking foot has saved my sanity!
Thank you so much I really really appreciate you talking to us all about scrap quilting, because you make so much sense to me, and I’m sure everyone else too. I can really relate to what your saying to us all, and your attitude is really really awesome too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
first thank you for your service.....i also build with lumber, i find it so similar, more men should try this...scrappy quilts are so great, they're my favorite too. i just finished a tee shirt quilt for my daughter, the memories in both are precious. i also use fabric from clothes. pulling weeds triggers the same relaxation, our minds are diverted from our stress
Sir, thank you for your service. I’m currently making a scrap quilt as a high school graduation gift for my grandson.
