Nice job. F___ (forget) the spring, it will be an ongoing consternation. Add some mass to the opposite side of your latch and let gravity be your best pal.
Wesley, you have good mechanical aptitude, your videos are easy to follow along, and you have a watchable quality. I would therefore make this recommendation: Change the format to copy what Norm Abrams does: Show the finished project at the beginning of the video, and THEN show how you made it. You will get people hooked at the get go. Thanks for the retractable casters design, most excellent.
Agreed Eric, absolutely. It would be brilliant if all who make projects would show completed jobs at the START of the clip. Instead, so many show a brief image or even worse, nothing at all. What about a five second introduction of what it is, what it does, how it works and then the making? This is part of the magic of video which so few seem to understand. So many spend so long talking to the camera and not enough time showing relevant details of their project.
Happy Thanksgiving! I made it to the hardware store already and picked up a proper spring. Also, I'm well aware those tacks were horrible. I couldn't see what I was doing. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! This is beautifully simple. Was looking for something like this and thought up some complex cam type system until I decided to look on RUclips. Thanks for the inspiration Wesley
I see you own the worlds single best belt sander!! I too am the proud owner of that Harbor Freight gem! It won't die no matter what I do to it, that includes setting it on fire when I got sparks from metal down inside a pile of dust in the housing! Thumbs Up from me!
Great! You got me to the aha! moment on my design problem. I have a lower shelf in the way on a retro-fit design. Now I see how I can lock the system at right angles to my first thoughts.
My table weighs somewhere around 300 lbs and currently I have fixed casters that touch the ground only if I deadlift one end of the table 10 degrees, so this is a very welcome idea. It will certainly save my back! You have a new subscriber.
Holey poot!! I was reluctant to build this caster set for my latest bench project because I didn't want to putz around with the locking mechanisms I was finding... This, however, is PERFECT! :O
Watched all of click spring, ave and this old Tony. I like your style. Not that I would ever want ave to change, I think its nice to have something I can watch with my young boys :)
Great build Wes! The only thing I would do different would be ditch the spring and use some eccentric weight since gravity always works all the time and never breaks (yet). Keep up the cool vids!
Love that table top system ! And the retracting castors I've welded for 25 yrs in the trade and built many projects at home in my garage and so could have used a system like that for fitting Great build 👍
Hi, I just discovered your channel! I’m not in metalworking, but I really like the way you present your work and edit your videos. A pleasure to watch! Subscribed! Great work!
By far the most elegant and simple-to-build design I've seen, and I intend to shamelessly steal it for every table and big tool in my upcoming workshop build-out. Many thumbs skyward to you and your creepy-ass moth sponsor.
Some of that reminds me of the old saying my welding instructor used to say to me:: " a grinder and a little paint will make a welder what he ain't''". When je looked at some of my welds! 😉 I've (hopefully) improved since those days...I really like the idea and am probably going to have to copy that, but just may have to make the table top a bit thicker.
Very cool! I think I will use this idea on a table in the future. Thank you for sharing! You may have better luck with that spring lasting if you use an extension spring in place of that compression spring.
Hey Wesley great vids. Just a tip for the bandsaw. If you saw your flatstock on the flat it will be more square and should help avoid blade wander. Thanks for the vids.
OMG... I just subbed because I see you use a Pica Pole to measure with as well! Bravo, sir! I don't know why more rulers don't have the hook on the end.
Great design ,great style of presentation. Nice moth action at end! I am working on similar for a table that won't move much but needs to be easy to do so. Love the auto lock mechanism..i was looking a more complicated ratchet mechanism. Yours is way better. Now wheres my huge metal saw?
i am about to attempt this, my only concern is putting that kind of weight on the casters at an angle to lift the table, as well as the the arms used to hold the casters down under load.
hahaha..the struggle is real. Been there, done that. I even have to change to few spring type just to make it work but for other assembly. Maybe i will try to make this for my workbench...
A simple solution would be to design the catch with more weight to the left of the pivot, then the catch will automatically swing to the right. No spring required
Felicitaciones muy buen trabajo desde Uruguay, con su permiso se lo voy a copiar. Me podrías decir las medidas de la plancha perforada superior largo, ancho y espesor . Gracias
New subscriber here. Enjoyed the videos and especially your wit when replying to some of the comments. Do you have a video on creating/assembling the welding table top? I looked around but did not see it.
I enjoyed your welding table build and the subsequent caster project. The caster mechanism is a really good design which I may modify to allow a timber work bench to become mobile. However your welding is considerably better than your Antipodean accent. Whilst my Australian accent is genuine my welding could be described as bloody awful. I have liked a number of your ideas. I have subscribed to your channel. Thank you
Just saw this, sorry. RUclips is weird about reply notifications. There's no real average. Costs vary greatly depending on the amount of metal bending, the types of lighting, complexity of the paint job, etc. If there's something you'd like to have made, contact me directly at wesleytreat.com with the details and I can put together an estimate. Thanks!
It was someone that had commented on "never had a taco" and you wished they were coming to town so you could take them to the "Greatest Taco in the World" or something to that effect. I grew up in Dallas (Oak Cliff) of course it was in the 60's & 70's. Of course Oak Cliff didn't have all the little mom & pop Mexican food places. We had El Chico and El Fenix but that was about it. I'll look for Velvet Taco
Nice job. F___ (forget) the spring, it will be an ongoing consternation. Add some mass to the opposite side of your latch and let gravity be your best pal.
I'll subscribe even though you already hit 20k... From what I've seen so far you deserve way more than that.
That means a lot, Jeremy. I always enjoy your videos. Great job on the belt grinder stand!
Praise from Cesar! Congrats!
Not Clickspring, AvE, the welder you ain't the filer you are!
Holy Schmidt! I agree

Clever design, great attitude you have, too. And yeah, that is a spooky-looking moth.
Happy Thanksgiving! I made it to the hardware store already and picked up a proper spring. Also, I'm well aware those tacks were horrible. I couldn't see what I was doing. Thanks for watching!
Notwithstanding the crappy spring, I would call that an elegant solution. Nice job!
Your video sponsor is more interesting than most on RUclips 😃
Not tricks, gimmicks, no BS.. and some awesome talent....sir you have a new subscriber!
Awesome! This is beautifully simple. Was looking for something like this and thought up some complex cam type system until I decided to look on RUclips. Thanks for the inspiration Wesley
Slick job. I really like how it all worked out. Very clean

Still binging your videos! I love that your humour matches your skill perfectly - thank you!
Best tacos are here in Mexico! But amazings welding table. I'm starting in the welding world. Thanks for sharing!
Holey poot!! I was reluctant to build this caster set for my latest bench project because I didn't want to putz around with the locking mechanisms I was finding... This, however, is PERFECT! :O
This was a really great solution. I love how simple that catch was.
Nice and simple. The best designs tend to be like this.
Nice job Wesley and you did use a compression spring but who can argue with success, the table is a great idea.
Your effort is always top notch in my book. Happy thanksgiving
Watched all of click spring, ave and this old Tony. I like your style. Not that I would ever want ave to change, I think its nice to have something I can watch with my young boys :)
You made it!
23k so far, & the year's not over
I love that you don’t edit out the struggles. Haha. Great project
I’m very impressed. Nice job
I think I would have lost patience with the spring and realize that the clamp works just fine when I need to move it lol. 😝 Great design.
Great build Wes! The only thing I would do different would be ditch the spring and use some eccentric weight since gravity always works all the time and never breaks (yet). Keep up the cool vids!
Nice simple clean solution to the problem
Love that table top system ! And the retracting castors

Great build 👍

Great going Wesley. Simple and very effective!
Congrats Bro. It worked well.
By far the most elegant and simple-to-build design I've seen, and I intend to shamelessly steal it for every table and big tool in my upcoming workshop build-out. Many thumbs skyward to you and your creepy-ass moth sponsor.
Some great engineering to finish of the project. Nicely done!
I clicked Like for the Clickspring impression. I subscribed for the great content and ideas!

Very nice love the clickspring reference
I cannot understand how you don't have more subs... A+
Very cool! I think I will use this idea on a table in the future. Thank you for sharing!
You may have better luck with that spring lasting if you use an extension spring in place of that compression spring.
Perfect video to watch on Thanksgiving!! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing the idea/video! Good job!
congrats on 21k dude!
Had to give the thumbs up when you went all clickspring with it... G'day
Muy chulo y practico su sistema de ruedas retractiles.
Hey Wesley great vids. Just a tip for the bandsaw. If you saw your flatstock on the flat it will be more square and should help avoid blade wander. Thanks for the vids.
I misread your name as Whiskey Treat this morning. Guess who didn't get a drink last night!!
Dude; I would have stopped at the clamp. You amaze me.
Watching Feb 2019 @ 54K Subs. Got your 20K and just kept going. Well done.
Cheers from B.C.
Great and very Simple(st) idea..Appreciate it as an engineer.
OMG... I just subbed because I see you use a Pica Pole to measure with as well! Bravo, sir! I don't know why more rulers don't have the hook on the end.
I use that ruler probably every single day. 👍
Desde Ecuador te saludo y me ayudas mucho con ideas geniales
Great design ,great style of presentation. Nice moth action at end!
I am working on similar for a table that won't move much but needs to be easy to do so. Love the auto lock mechanism..i was looking a more complicated ratchet mechanism. Yours is way better. Now wheres my huge metal saw?
I love the creativity, thanks for sharing it with us.
That's a great solution.
No problem enjoying the videos and I'm from Texas
Thumbs up just for the Clickspring reference! Great channel - thanks!
very good! hopefully I may copy/modify some day.
i am about to attempt this, my only concern is putting that kind of weight on the casters at an angle to lift the table, as well as the the arms used to hold the casters down under load.

Thumbs up for the nod to Clickspring! Also, subbed!
Pneumatic belt Sanders are great.. just thought I'd throw that out there 😉
Good job ,so nice and handy candy
A simple solution would be to design the catch with more weight to the left of the pivot, then the catch will automatically swing to the right. No spring required
Like the Raincap on an outdoor Generator/Machinery Exhaust Pipe.
You, sir, are a delight.
Awesome videos as always man! I’m hoping to get welding table top soon then I will be rewatching this videos like crazy.
Nice work
So smart! great job
Great video! Love your comical style and well designed builds :)
Love your video.Happy Thanksgiving and keep up the work.
Great solution! Now to work on that heel-toe technique...
That is an awesome idea. I'm going to have to copy you! Thanks!
Please do! Good luck!
Just found your channel it's a great idea, love it. Thank you
Why doesn't this guy have 500K subscribers yet?
john jones they're on their way
Very inspiring.
Very clever
Great video quality
Hi Wesley love you videos and your humour,I think you used a compression spring rather than a tension spring ,p.s was that the moth going wee . G

Hi, thanks! I don't have one on the top, sorry. CertiFlat has tutorial videos over on their website, though:
weldtables.com
You are a genius!
Bueno
Well done!
I laughed very loud at the clickspring joke.
hilarious
Me too. I thought I was the only one
Awesome stuff! Thanks for sharing this cause I just might use it for a lathe stand.
You just reminded me that we haven't had a Clickspring video in a while. :( I need my Antikythera mechanism fix....
You can never have enough Clickspring engineering porn.
Been looking to build the same thing! Subscribed! Thanks for the video and great idea!
Hey looks like you have the same horizontal vertical band saw. Mind telling me what blade you are running? Thank you
I bought this one a couple of years ago and it's still cutting pretty well: amzn.to/2lCBV6Z
Wouldn't it be kool if you could rig up an exhaust fan that would kick on when you start weld
Your videos are very entertaining! Great build. : )
Awesome update dude...
Nice job 👍🏻 and very funny videos

NICE !!! 👍
Hey great channel glad I found you. Next time I'm in Tx at my sisters does the same offer stand, I too am a taco virgin, (uk). Subbed.
Great stuff
2:33 Oh great idea. When do we get to see a giant, rusty, neon clock sign? :D
I'd love to do a big clock. Just waiting for somebody to order one.
Wesley Treat, Maker of Things That brings me to the question: How much does one of your signs cost on average?
Just saw this, sorry. RUclips is weird about reply notifications. There's no real average. Costs vary greatly depending on the amount of metal bending, the types of lighting, complexity of the paint job, etc. If there's something you'd like to have made, contact me directly at wesleytreat.com with the details and I can put together an estimate. Muito bom ótimo parabéns e obrigado
What is the name of the pen that you use and where did you buy it?
You'll find a link in the video description. Thanks!
What size bolts do you use as "bench dogs" and what size holes on the welding table?
The holes fit 5/8" or 16mm hardware. See ruclips.net/video/NP2wWQG1vlI/видео.html for how I made the clamps.
Nice!
Great design, did you drill all the holes in the top or did you purchase predrilled from a supplier? Be a Maker, not a Taker! keep it coming
Thanks, Rich! The top is from Certiflat. There's a link in the description.
