How can you take anything seriously from someone that says it's been a while since any Dutch player has excelled in the PL? There's currently 22 Dutch players in the PL including Virgil Van Dijk, Gakpo and Gravenberch at Liverpool, Mickey Van de Ven at Spurs, Nathan Ake at City, Timber at Arsenal. That's 5 Dutch players in the top three current teams.

Then goes on to say @2:04 that it's been along time since a player has come across from the Dutch league and did well. He must have forgotten Suarez at Liverpool too who came from Ajax, as did Gravenberch. All the players I mentioned have played in the Eredivisie, except VVD who went to Celtic from the SECOND division. I'm not suggesting they're on the level of Van Persie or Bergkamp, but they're certainly successful.

Maybe there hasn't been a player who has absolutely smashed it at one of the top clubs, but the top clubs aren't the only teams in the Premier League, so you can't say there is such a thing as a Premier League level player. Ugh, British sports journalism is such biased trash, love to throw in just the statistics to push their agenda, but leave half the facts out. Feyenoord has the 3rd biggest yearly budget, quite a bit behind PSV and Ajax, so a way lower salary cap. Most expensive player Feyenoord bought was a little over 8 mil (last season), where PSV is in the area of 12-15 and Ajax around 20-30 mil. Conference League Final in the 1st season, winning the league in the 2nd, and the cup in the 3rd (finishing 2nd in the league with more points than previous year), with players transfer values growing massively, is a great achievement with the financial disadvantages Feyenoord has.
Also love how the arrogant English seem to have something against Dutch players and coaches, eventhough both LvG and Ten Hag got a (smaller) trophy (even with the terrible management and underperforming, schoolboy error making instagram diva's at ManU). When was the last time an english manager won the PL again? I think I was born around that time.

  • @DerekTJ
    @DerekTJ 10 дней назад

I think it's a red herring, or non point to declare that Dutch mangers haven't had success in England.
You have to dig down into the reeds to see.
There haven't been many Dutch managers to draw on as a sample size anyway.
Success(league title?) only happens at the big clubs. Since the first Dutch manager in the EPL, there has only been six different league winners, and only two of them clubs have had a Dutch manager.
There has only been Van Gaal, Jol, Ten Haag, Hiddink (briefly) and Gullitt who've had jobs that could have success.
But here's the surprise - four of them have won cups:
    Gullit - FA Cup (+ a final)
    Hiddink - FA Cup
    Van Gaal - FA Cup
Ten Haag - EFL Cup (+FA Cup final x 2)
    I'm a Liverpool fan btw.

Nunez has improved a hell of a lot since he first arrived but so he should be 89mill however, we all know in vital games he wasn't selected by klopp in starting 11, klopp didnt trust him! especially if jota was available, so there is question marks over him.

I don't think Slot has to come in and succeed right away if success means winning a title or a cup in his first season. Klopp wasn't able to do that in his first season even though the players Slot will inherit are far better than than the players Klopp inherited. I do think if Slot can get the team to qualify for the champions league while making a deep run in all competitions then that would be a great start for him at Liverpool. Slot will need time and the players will need time. Up the Mighty Reds.

When EtH was appointed at Ajax, the club was doing fine financially. They'd had 2 down years result wise, but still ended up in the top 3 in the Dutch league.
When Slot started at Feyenoord, they were not financially stable and apart from the 16/17 season, they hadn't won anything in 20 years. Even in the 16/17 championship season, they didn't play fantastic football and really only won the league because Ajax and PSV screwed up more than they did.
Slot turned things around. He made Feyenoord play an attractive type of football, which was consistent throughout the season. It resulted in some big sales, which made the club financially stable after almost 3 decades of having to pull rabbits out of the hat to be able to keep going.
Slot has done an amazing job at Feyenoord, and this is coming from a PSV fan.

@@taand4725 You missed the point and start a different debate. He was top 3 when ten Hag had won the double in the same season. Psv and Ajax were poor the season after when he got the title. This season he didn't defended his title and he didn't won a double so Eth has more prizes. Eth's playstyle was and is recognized in Europe and he was and is considered as an Elite manager. Please read and stay on the topic .

    • @ClippingPodcasts
      @ClippingPodcasts 14 дней назад +1

I think it’s unnecessary to start comparing the two.
I do see the point that Slot basically won everything ETH won during their time in The Netherlands, as well as Slot having less training experience than ETH which is (seemingly) more impressive.
What I don’t agree with is saying: “ETH had it easier than Slot because of more resources etc.”.
Taking Ajax from a club that was not feared in Europe and always underperformed in CL to a feared club that was onto winning the biggest European title and also being absolutely untouchable in the domestic league, is at least as impressive lifting up a club like Feyenoord to being a top 2 club and reaching a conference league final. They’re both impressive and it’s not worth it to compare both situations.
Just because Ajax had resources, doesn’t mean it’s easy. If it was easy why didn’t anyone do it before?
You could also say now: United was in a worse position when ETH got appointed than Liverpool is now… And then start comparing that again. It’s no use. Let’s judge them as individual managers.

    Under Klopp, Liverpool finished 8th, 4th, 4th, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 2nd, 5th and 3rd.
That is an average position of 3rd/4th over 9 seasons.
1 title win in 9 seasons
1 CL win in 8 attempts, lost 2 finals.
2 EFL cups in 9 attempts, lost 1 final.
1 FA cup in 9 attempts
    Lost in 1 Europa final.
While Klopp has been magnificent in making Liverpool a force again, there were more losses and heartbreak than success.
If Slot were to maintain Liverpool's trajectory with the current squad, then a top-3 and a title race with a cup thrown in, would be expected.
