On Elisa's blog, she had mentioned that she had felt like someone or something was watching her. The night she went missing, she had said on her blog that she was going out; and that she hoped no-one followed her. My theory was that Elisa saw whoever it was, and tried to confuse them and get away by hiding in the elevator, going to random floors etc. No idea who she was talking to though. Maybe trying to ask someone to come into the elevator with her so she was safer? It did look like she was beckoning someone.
edit: if you're here in 2024 to tell me information that was in the netflix series please consider this was 5 years ago and i have since watched said netflix series

If i were the owner of the Cecil Hotel I'd make sure that the button to the 10th floor was removed or something since removing the 10th floor all together would be more trouble. No 10th floor, no elevator game.
It's actually pretty rare these days to find a hotel with 10 floors supposedly because of the elevator game or so I heard
Sometimes hotels remove the 13th button on the elevator because of superstition around the 13th floor

Another really creepy thing abput this is that tank she was found in was like apperently really hard to open you had to have like proper acess to get it open
The other thing was they said when they went to check the tank it was closed, so either she got in and closed on herself or someone else closed it

I've heard this story before, and I've always thought it was extremely interesting~ more details I've heard, though, is that the door on the water tank was actually closed (and extremely heavy to lift from outside or inside it) not open. When she was found a little over two weeks later, she was naked in the water tank with her clothes and some personal items floating in the water with her, and when her autopsy was FINALLY released 4 months after her death, and after many delays, it detailed that she suffered no physical trauma. Aside from all that, the water tanks were detailed to be pretty tall and were standing on cement blocks, so the only way Elisa could have gotten into the tank was by use of a ladder--and none were found when the police came to search for her.
I haven't heard of the Elevator Game before this video and good lord it sounds terrifying LOL but if that IS what happened to her, she must have died a very sad way :T
Otherwise, I personally think it's a manic episode (though it doesn't explain how she got into the water tank). Her autopsy said that she had small traces of some of her medicine that treated her bi-polar disorder and her depression, but she also had small traces of a couple other drugs--ibuprofen and an allergy med. Plus her alcohol level was 0.02%. There's also story that her autopsy was checked as 'accidental' with a date stamp, but three days later, it was changed to 'undetermined' and signed off on.

I remember visiting my grandmother at the hospital some years ago. Upon leaving from the visit, I used an elevator that was double sided. I pressed the key for the ground floor/entrance. As I'm waiting to get to my floor the elevator stops and the doors behind me open. I turn around to this pitch black room faintly lit by the elevator lights. I see metal slabs with what looks like bodies with sheets over them. I was petrified. I dont know why I felt something else could possibly be in that room, but i slowly reached for the button to close the elevator doors not wanting to disturb anything. Never been so scared/uncomfortable in my life.

5~once on the second floor don't get out
6~press button for sixth floor
7~once on the sixth floor press for the second floor again
8~once on the second floor press the tenth floor
10~once on the tenth floor press the button for the fifth floor
11~at this level a young women would enter *at any moment DO NOT look or speak to her*
press the button for the first floor
if the elevator begins to go down to the first floor exit as soon as the doors open don't look back (something went wrong)
12~if you reach the tenth floor you can decide whether or not to get out or not.
if you choose to leave the lady will ask where are you going. do not speak or look at her
you would know if you're in a different world because the only person there is you.

People are afraid of different things. Won't criticize anyone for that. I just want to note that elevators are incredibly safe nowadays. It would be almost impossible for them to break and fall. Too many back-up brakes and safety engineering for it to happen. You're in far more danger of slipping and breaking your neck falling down the stairs than an elevator breaking and killing you. Virtually all deaths from elevators are maintenance people working on them.

Anyways, so occupy myself, I looked out the car, and not so strangely, I saw another car. but... there was someone inside. Why was this strange? 1. The car was off and there was nobody but that person inside. 2. they were staring directly at me and 3. it WAS me.
I don't know if I was imagining it, but I could swear I saw myself, only paler, in the car staring at me. I moved, expecting it to be some weird reflection. But even if I moved, it stayed still, staring. Staring. Staring.
My dad finally came back, I said something to him, which I don't remember, looked back at the car where the person had been, and they were gone.

Me and my friend once player the elevator game. My auntie, April (my friend) and I went to the doctors. My auntie wasn't feeling so good. When she was in one of the doctors rooms we asked if we could walk around. She said be back by 3:15! It was now 3:00. We didn't have much time. I ran to the elevator with April and she did all the button pushing. We stopped at the 5th floor but nobody hopped in with us... We went straight up to the 10th floor. Everything seamed normal. We walked around for a little (3 or 4 most minutes) we hopped back in the elevator and went straight back down to the 2nd floor. There was auntie worried like heck. She started yelling. We both looked at each other and wondered what was going on... I stared at the clock at the wall... It was 5:48... I have never been in an elevator since that incidence... I have always just taken the stairs...
I remember when my cousin Savannah had a hotel birthday party I went to. I can't remember the name of the hotel though. I was spending the night there and I kept hearing strange noises..like soft knocking at the door and I saw several shadowy figures spread around the room,one by the door to the hallway,one sitting in a chair in the corner, another looked like it was peeking from under the bathroom door,and one all white figure staring from in the window from the parking lot,we were on the first floor so it was looking straight in the window. I felt a bit paralyzed and finally got the guts to wake up my aunt keisha, who was sleeping next to me. I told her about all of the figures and she said she couldn't see anything..and she even looked out the window and I could still see it,but somehow she couldn't...so she went back in bed,then she tapped my shoulder,and said she sees them now. We tried to go back to sleep,Aunt Keisha falls asleep easily,but I don't. So I was waiting to dose off a bit longer than she was. The worse thing was,when I first saw the figures it was three AM,and an hour later they were still there. Finally the morning came and we told all the other twelve girls and three boys about it,and they said the saw them too,they described where they were and what they looked like,and it was identical to my description...we left imediately. I kind of remember the hotel being named after a type of leaf..but we never went there again. That was one of my scariest hotel stories ever.

About a year ago I was in my class learning about history, and a teacher put on a slide of a young girl that was probably 13, about my age at the Time, called Leahe on the board, I was taking notes when I heard a dramatic gasp,followed by a girl in my class that stood up and yelled, "it's her! It's Monica's sister, the one from my dream!" Alarmed I stood up and told her I don't have a sister, and that this girl lived in a long time ago, so we couldn't possibly be sisters, but then the class started mumbling and a small boy told me I look just like her, and it was true, we had the same heart face shape, the same almond eyes, and the same small, slightly upturned nose, my teacher was just ignoring the chaos, staring blankly at the board, when I noticed the girl from earlier, curled up in a featus position, rocking on the ground in the corner, I called out her name and she just looked at me, but they weren't her eyes, they were mine, or rather Leahes. The whole class was silent, when suddenly a A track of a young girls voice, MY VOICE played through the speakers, and I'll never forget what it said. "Dear diary, mother has been ever so horrid as of recently, she took Liam out to get some cracking for supper and left me all alone with mam' bugsby, our new nanny, I went into fathers study, see if he had returned home from the excavation site in Hampshire, only to find mam' bigsby crouched at the fire throwing in my rose thorn, and cherry blossom bark.
What are you doing?! I screeched in horror, but then she spoke in the voice of Rosetta, the village witch, "come child, I must tell you something." She grumbled "Monica, is your sister." but she sounded muffled, and there was a strange unfamiliar growl and a noise like a horn in the distance, " Monica elles, you must seek her in this life and the next, you two MUST reunite, my babies, you must be together!" She yelled before slumping into the ground! Could it be true? And then the tape cuts off, I went home that day and NEVER told anyone, but when I asked my friends about it the next day, they told me we had maths yesterday, not history.

I think if Elisa was playing the elevator game she might have been caught between the two dimensions/universes. So no one knew she was there and got on the roof and in the water tank. (if she was disoriented she may have not even known she was getting in the water tank, but sh may have also just wanted it to end if she couldn't get back correctly and felt hopeless) But when she died she may have come back to our reality.

She may have been having an episode of psychosis as a side effect of her medication. She was probably taking an antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication. Both of those can cause an episode.

If you're off your medications and your at the peek of your mania and haven't slept for two weeks you can. Try not sleeping for two weeks and tell me that you wouldnt hallucinate and become delusional. The medicine helps keep people even so they don't bounce from an extreme high to an extreme low, which probably is what happened. She was bouncing along like a bouncy ball and she had enough.

my cousin's friend came over and I got to hang out with them it was night we got back from ice skating. We ARE OBSESSED WITH PARANORMAL THINGS! Anyway we played the picture game (look it up) i got too scared then I went out the room they did the ritual. They were done and got the demons away. They let me know I could go in. They looked at the pictures. And we saw a ghost behind the friend. I went outside to investigate my cousin went with me we heard a voice we ran inside. We went to bed. I woke up i heard somebody saying my name nobody was there. I ran to my cousins room. We are safe now

I spent two weeks in this hotel once when I was homeless in LA and I never knew it had this creepy past. It had a very beautiful lobby well kind of except you could notice all the chips and lack of care for keeping the marble as beautiful as it once was in the room I stayed in was a king size bed where you had to share the bathroom down the hall with everyone else on the floor. I never felt creepy while there I didn't even know it had that kind of pass.
